June 2016[edit]

Information icon Hello, I'm Amccann421. I noticed that you recently removed some content from Stanton Samenow without adequately explaining why. In the future, it would be helpful to others if you described your changes to Wikipedia with an accurate edit summary. If this was a mistake, don't worry; the removed content has been restored. If you would like to experiment, please use the sandbox. If you think I made a mistake, or if you have any questions, you can leave me a message on my talk page. Thanks. I understand why the information was removed and based on the flimsy sourcing, it should be removed per WP:EXCEPTIONAL and WP:BLP. I didn't get that at first either. It appears that someone is trying to WP:RGW on that article. If editors persist in adding that information to that article, @Ssamenow: should seek WP:RFPP right away and maybe discuss the situation on WP:ANI. I've added it to my watch list and will try to keep an eye on it as well. @Amccann421:, perhaps you can help here too. Toddst1 (talk) 20:53, 13 June 2016 (UTC)[reply]

July 2016[edit]

Information icon Please do not add commentary or your own personal analysis to Wikipedia articles, as you did to Stanton Samenow. Doing so violates Wikipedia's neutral point of view policy and breaches the formal tone expected in an encyclopedia. Thank you. ThePlatypusofDoom (Talk) 01:17, 5 July 2016 (UTC)[reply]

Managing a conflict of interest[edit]

Information icon Hello, Ssamenow. We welcome your contributions, but if you have an external relationship with the people, places, or things you have written about in the article Stanton Samenow, you may have a conflict of interest (COI). Editors with a COI may be unduly influenced by their connection to the topic, and it is important when editing Wikipedia articles that such connections be completely transparent. See the conflict of interest guideline and FAQ for organizations for more information. In particular, we ask that you please:

  • avoid editing or creating articles related to you and your family, friends, school, company, club, or organization, as well as any competing companies' projects or products;
  • instead, you are encouraged to propose changes on the Talk pages of affected article(s) (see the {{request edit}} template);
  • when discussing affected articles, disclose your COI (see WP:DISCLOSE);
  • avoid linking to the Wikipedia article or to the website of your organization in other articles (see WP:SPAM);
  • exercise great caution so that you do not violate Wikipedia's content policies.

In addition, you must disclose your employer, client, and affiliation with respect to any contribution for which you receive, or expect to receive, compensation (see WP:PAID).

Please take a few moments to read and review Wikipedia's policies regarding conflicts of interest, especially those pertaining to neutral point of view, sourcing and autobiographies. Thank you. ThePlatypusofDoom (Talk) 01:27, 5 July 2016 (UTC)[reply]

Request to eliminate Samenow controversy section.[edit]

I am the son of Dr. Samenow, representing him.

The entire section "controversy" should be axed as it was not added by a neutral source.

It appears to have been added by one Mike Volpe (see: https://twitter.com/mikevolpe/status/744164168845135872) who is portraying his biased opinion - sourcing his own biased work. Volpe has a clear agenda, which can be easily determined by searching "volpe samenow" on Google. Volpe has gone to great lengths to disparage Samenow on numerous websites.

Volpe's reporting on Dr. Samenow has not been vetted, sanctioned or published by an objective source.

Volpe should not be permitted to edit Dr. Samenow's page, as he is not neutral and seems to be out to get Dr. Samenow.

Obviously, given my relationship to Dr. Samenow I have a conflict of interest, but so to does Volpe...so I respectfully ask he (and/or his surrogates) not be permitted to edit the page and that the "controversies" section, which he added (and stated such on Twitter), be removed. — Preceding unsigned comment added by Ssamenow (talkcontribs) 03:02, 14 July 2016‎

Mr. Samenow, Thank you for declaring your connection to the subject. I have marked this request as answered here but have copied it verbatim to Talk:Stanton_Samenow where it can be more appropriately addressed and is (as of this writing) still a remaining edit request.
Beyond this, please see Wikipedia:Contact us/Article problem/Factual error (from subject) for a general overview of ways to get problems fixed (as well as an email address). You can also mention specific problems on Talk:Stanton_Samenow (which I have done for you in this case).
The email address is info-en-q@wikimedia.org. The first thing you might be asked to do is to privately establish your identity.
Best regards, Toddst1 (talk) 06:43, 14 July 2016 (UTC)[reply]
