Use of the word recent

You just added a paragraph to Climate change in Africa with the phrase The recent drought in many African countries. Do keep in mind that many Wikipedia pages are not regularly edited and that words like recent can quickly lose meaning. Will there have been a recent drought in Africa in ten years? The preferred way of saying this is the 200x-201x drought in many African countries.
