Welcome![edit]

Hello, Steelers2018, and welcome to Wikipedia! My name is Ian and I work with the Wiki Education Foundation; I help support students who are editing as part of a class assignment.

I hope you enjoy editing here. If you haven't already done so, please check out the student training library, which introduces you to editing and Wikipedia's core principles. If this is the first article that you have created, you may want to read the guide to writing your first article.

You may want to consider using the Article Wizard to help you create articles.

A tag has been placed on Seven mass media requesting that it be speedily deleted from Wikipedia. This has been done under section A11 of the criteria for speedy deletion, because the article appears to be about something invented/coined/discovered by the article's creator or someone they know personally, and it does not indicate how or why the subject is important or significant: that is, why an article about that subject should be included in an encyclopedia. Under the criteria for speedy deletion, such articles may be deleted at any time.

If you think this page should not be deleted for this reason, you may contest the nomination by visiting the page and clicking the button labelled "Contest this speedy deletion". This will give you the opportunity to explain why you believe the page should not be deleted. However, be aware that once a page is tagged for speedy deletion, it may be deleted without delay. Please do not remove the speedy deletion tag from the page yourself, but do not hesitate to add information in line with Wikipedia's policies and guidelines. If the page is deleted, and you wish to retrieve the deleted material for future reference or improvement, then please contact the deleting administrator. A tag has been placed on Seven mass media, requesting that it be speedily deleted from Wikipedia. This has been done under section G4 of the criteria for speedy deletion, because the page appears to be a repost of material that was previously deleted following a deletion discussion, such as at Articles for deletion. When a page has substantially identical content to that of a page deleted after a discussion, and any changes in the content do not address the reasons for which the material was previously deleted, it may be deleted at any time.

Seven mass media[edit]

Hi. When someone reverts or deletes a contribution you made, please don't simply re-instate the content. In this case, the article was deleted after this discussion of its suitability. While you can make a case for the reinstatement of an article that has been deleted through the Articles for deletion process, you need, at the very least, to address the concerns raised in the deletion discussion before you proceed.

Looking at your draft (which I believe was what you added to the article), I see quite a few issues that make it unsuitable for Wikipedia in its current form.

  • Wikipedia articles are supposed to be formatted in a certain fashion; yours looks nothing like what a Wikipedia article is supposed to. Please see pages 7-9 of the Editing Wikipedia brochure for help on article layout.
  • You need to include properly-formatted inline citations. If you aren’t sure how to do this, please revisit the section of the training module beginning on this page. These sources need to be places immediately after the statements they support. Your sources should be reliable, scholarly sources - preferably peer-reviewed articles in scholarly journals or books published by academic presses. Your sources need to be about the topic - you can't cobble together sources about radio, print, television, etc. You need to find sources that are about this group of media, collectively. You also shouldn't go into detail that really belongs on the page about, say, radio - just summarize the relevant points and point the reader to the radio article to learn more.
  • You need to add links to other Wikipedia articles. Topics and terms that are likely to be unfamiliar to the average reader should be linked the first time they appear in the article.

Once you've done that, get in touch with me and I can see if there's some way to get the article topic reinstated. Do not try to do this on your own - it will simply be deleted again. Ian (Wiki Ed) (talk) 14:41, 8 May 2018 (UTC)[reply]
