Disambiguation link notification for March 8[edit]

Hi. Thank you for your recent edits. Wikipedia appreciates your help. We noticed though that when you edited Municipalities of Iceland, you added a link pointing to the disambiguation page Manager (check to confirm | fix with Dab solver). Such links are almost always unintended, since a disambiguation page is merely a list of "Did you mean..." article titles. Read the FAQ • Join us at the DPL WikiProject.

Iceland-related edits[edit]

Thanks for the personal appreciation you posted on my talkpage, for some of my latest contributions to some topics in the Icelandic field of Wikipedia. For sure I also appreciate your inputs, and the recent good debate we had at Talk:2008–2011 Icelandic financial crisis. Unfortunately my ties to Iceland (and knowledge about Iceland) is very limited, and when adding material I am in most cases entirely dependent of an automatic browser-translation of Icelandic web-material. Lately, I however caught interest to dig into the political and financial affairs affecting Iceland, since the Icelandic financial crisis erupted in 2008. The fuel behind my latest contributions for Wikipedia in this field, was (as you also suspected) a boiling frustration I had, when experiencing a great difficulty to find some easy accessible and accurate/neutral in-depth references formulated in English about Icelandic affairs.

I am indeed a Dane as you presumed, but live in Copenhagen, and only an "expert" to the extend of having a habit to research rather deep into various matters having ignited my interest. In my daily life I am working as a technical analytical engineer (graduated from Denmark's Technical University), who opted to supplement his education with a bachelor degree in Business Economics (from Copenhagen Business School). As such I don't have expert status within a certain field. My expertise is limited to my analytical skills. If you need my help/input to check/analyze for the completeness/accurateness of certain Wikipedia articles about Icelandic financial affairs, you are always welcome to contact me. But unfortunately this is probably the only Icelandic corner, where I can help and contribute. Currently, I also have an increased personal interest to follow how the economic-political topics develop in Iceland, particularly in the light of the severe financial crisis you were hit by in October 2008. I have a perception that we in Scandinavia + Iceland + Faroese Island all share the same basic Nordic mindset and cultural/historic values, and this is probably also why I tend mainly to have high interest to follow/contribute to articles about all sorts of economic/political developments in the Nordic countries. As a pro-European Dane, I also tend to have a high interest/knowledge about economic-political affairs within EU, which is the second corner I currently also attempt to help cover at Wikipedia. Best regards, Danish Expert (talk) 17:52, 14 April 2013 (UTC)[reply]

Icelandic presidential elections[edit]

I really see no need for the template - to answer your point about common appearance, all the tables already have a common appearance - i.e. the wikitable format. See for example 1968 and 1980 - they are already identical. This is also a format used across most election articles, so is more consistent than a template created for a specific country.

In addition, the appearance of the template is also poor - the heading having to be over two lines because the width has been set as too narrow. The wording is incorrect (words after slashes shouldn't be capitalised), and I also see no need for the links at the bottom. Number 57 17:25, 18 October 2013 (UTC)[reply]

Hello, S.Örvarr.S. Just to let you know, when you want to redirect a category, you should use the {{Category redirect}} template rather than the #REDIRECT keyword. Your administrator status on the Icelandic Wikibooks[edit]

Hello. A policy regarding the removal of "advanced rights" (administrator, bureaucrat, etc.) was adopted by community consensus in 2013. According to this policy, the stewards are reviewing activity on wikis with no inactivity policy.

You meet the inactivity criteria (no edits and no log actions for 2 years) on the wiki listed above. Since that wiki does not have its own rights review process, the global one applies.

If you want to keep your rights, you should inform the community of the wiki about the fact that the stewards have sent you this information about your inactivity. If the community has a discussion about it and then wants you to keep your rights, please contact the stewards at m:Stewards' noticeboard, and link to the discussion of the local community, where they express their wish to continue to maintain the rights.

If you wish to resign your rights, you can reply here or request removal of your rights on Meta.

If there is no response at all after approximately one month, stewards will proceed to remove your administrator and/or bureaucrat rights. In ambiguous cases, stewards will evaluate the responses and will refer a decision back to the local community for their comment and review. If you have any questions, please contact the stewards. Proposed deletion of List of salaries of heads of state and government[edit]

The article List of salaries of heads of state and government has been proposed for deletion because of the following concern:

Un-sourced, mostly empty list.

While all constructive contributions to Wikipedia are appreciated, content or articles may be deleted for any of several reasons.

You may prevent the proposed deletion by removing the {{proposed deletion/dated}} notice, but please explain why in your edit summary or on the article's talk page.

Please consider improving the article to address the issues raised. Removing {{proposed deletion/dated}} will stop the proposed deletion process, but other deletion processes exist. In particular, the speedy deletion process can result in deletion without discussion, and articles for deletion allows discussion to reach consensus for deletion. Article upgrade assistance request (Pre-translation stage)[edit]

Seasons Greetings,

This is in reference to a relatively new umbrella article on en-wikipedia named Ceremonial pole. Ceremonial pole is a human tradition since ancient times; either existed in past at some point of time, or still exists in some cultures across global continents from north to south & from east to west. Ceremonial poles are used to symbolize a variety of concepts in several different world cultures.

Through article Ceremonial pole we intend to take encyclopedic note of cultural aspects and festive celebrations around Ceremonial pole as an umbrella article and want to have historical, mythological, anthropological aspects, reverence or worships wherever concerned as a small part.

While Ceremonial poles have a long past and strong presence but usually less discussed subject. Even before we seek translation of this article in global languages, we need to have more encyclopedic information/input about Ceremonial poles from all global cultures and languages. And we seek your assistance in the same.

Since other contributors to the article are insisting for reliable sources and Standard native english; If your contributions get deleted (for some reason like linguistics or may be your information is reliable but unfortunately dosent match expectations of other editors) , please do list the same on Talk:Ceremonial pole page so that other wikipedians may help improve by interlanguage collaborations, and/or some other language wikipedias may be interested in giving more importance to reliablity of information over other factors on their respective wikipedia.

This particular request is being made to you since your user name is listed in Wikipedia:Translators available list.

Thanking you with warm regards Mahitgar (talk) 05:48, 24 October 2015 (UTC)[reply]

English variety[edit]

Hello, I noticed you changed back my edit on Þingvellir, where I changed the word 'centre' back to 'center' after you had changed it from 'center' to 'centre'. Is there a good rationale why the variety of english was changed? If there is, great, otherwise, it should stay in the variety of english that the article was started in (in this case 'center'). Thanks! 2A02:C7D:CA32:CC00:E419:7819:979C:7E91 (talk) 06:28, 24 December 2016 (UTC)[reply]

As far as I know all Iceland-related articles use British English. I don't know who came up with that on Wikipedia but I guess it must be related to the fact that Iceland officially prefers British English and it's closer to the United Kingdom.
