Per your question, at Wikipedia we are writing for a general audience which means we are not writing specifically for patients or for doctors. This page discusses things in more depth [1]. Thus we do not typically use the term doctor or patient. In many places people other than doctors treat these conditions. It however is a bit of a judgement call as I have been told it is easier to understand text when it uses these terms rather than just stating the fact. As a translator as long as the meaning is there I will leave calls on style and tone to you.
