Welcome[edit]

Welcome!

Hello, Stevegarfield, and welcome to Wikipedia! Thank you for your contributions. I hope you like the place and decide to stay. Here are a few good links for newcomers:

I hope you enjoy editing here and being a Wikipedian! Please sign your name on talk pages using four tildes (~~~~); this will automatically produce your name and the date. If you have any questions, check out Wikipedia:Where to ask a question or ask me on my talk page. Again, welcome!

PS. It's generally not a good idea to create an article about yourself. See Wikipedia:Vanity for further explanation. Friday (talk) 14:42, 28 September 2005 (UTC)[reply]

Auobiographical articles[edit]

Writing about yourself flouts WP:AUTO. WP:AUTO is not a hard, fast policy that can never be violated, but it's something we encourage avoiding, and autobiographical articles are usually subjected to much greater scrutiny than otherwise. → Ξxtreme Unction|yakkity yak 17:20, 19 December 2005 (UTC)[reply]

I'll just reiterate this. You should not write about yourself on Wikipedia. Haakon 13:03, 29 August 2006 (UTC)[reply]

Wrong. "Another person obsessively monitoring his own biography is Wikipedia founder Jimmy Wales, who has edited it frequently"

The entry I reinstated about myself was one that I did not originally write. The note on the deleteion says, "17:20, 30 August 2006 Pdelongchamp (Talk | contribs) (→History - removed steve garfield link spam. the "year of the blog" statement would need to be recognized by a -notable- source and not just by the author)"

This video blog post is an important point in video blogging history.

Re vlog[edit]

I'm sorry if I seemed a little harsh, but it looked very blantant to me. I didn't know there was extensive discussion and consensus on the talk page, since I haven't followed it. To me it just looked like you exchanged a reference with one from yourself, out of the blue. I hope you will use the edit summary in the future to explain your edits, like you always should. That would have completely dodged any misunderstanding, though it does not excuse my rudeness. Thanks for your contributions to Wikipedia, and I always look forward to another Carol and Steve Show.
