From Wikipedia, the free encyclopedia

Hi, on September 24, 2008 you removed a page on an American Hip-Hop Producer/Rapper/Photographer/Blogger "Oddisee" who resides in Washington D.C. The reasoning behind the removal was as follows: "While this artist has worked with notable people, I do not believe that this notability is inherited or transferable. Lacks non-trivial coverage by reliable third party publications and fails WP:MUSIC guidelines too. JBsupreme (talk) 05:43, 10 September 2008 (UTC)"

I would like to request that the page be re-uploaded, or that you email me the content of the previous page. Oddisee is a rapidly growing artist from Washington D.C. who has recently toured Europe with Blu, Exile, and Fashawn (three artists who have their pages still available on Wikipedia). Since the time of removal, Oddisee has released several successful projects that have gotten huge recognition internationally (Diamond District -- In The Ruff was on DJ Premiers top 10 of 2009, and was on the 'top ten' list of many Hip-Hop artists). He has received a lot of media coverage from Websites like "The Stand", "IllRoots", "Vimby", "UGHH" (etc...), since the removal of the page. Most notably, his "Diamond District -- In The Ruff" album along with his "Traveling Man" and seasonal instrumental albums have all received a lot of coverage from several Underground and Mainstream Hip-Hop websites, by simply searching "Diamond District In The Ruff" on Google, several reviews and interviews appear.

If you could please email me the contents of the previous page, and allow me to re-edit the article with viable information from valid sources, I will truly appreciate it! I will email you on "user.stifle@gmail.com" directly after posting this message.

Thank you for your time and cooperation.

I'll userfy it to User:Iambicdc/Oddisee for you. Stifle (talk) 18:58, 10 April 2010 (UTC)

Do me a favor, and remove the page again.

Request for Comment on the Edit Filter talk page

Dear Stifle, One week or so ago, I applied for the edit filter 'view only' rights - this was basically to try in the future to suggest updates to some filters available especially in the NPP area, which I quite often patrol. With respect to the same Xeno replied on the Edit Filter talk page that if some trusted users could vouch for me, he could look at the granting of the permission. You were the administrator approving my account creator status - beyond that, I have interacted with you rarely. As I had left a note on users Phantomsteve, Chzz and deliriousandlost's page requesting them for comment (as I have interacted with them considerably on the ACC Tool) I wanted to request you to kindly leave your comment on the Edit Filter talk page discussion about how you find me as a trustworthy/untrustworthy editor with respect to edit filter view rights. Whatever your views might be, I would appreciate your comments. Warm regards. ♪ ♫ Wifione ♫ ♪ ―Œ ♣Łeave Ξ мessage♣ 09:37, 12 April 2010 (UTC)

Stundra's images

Seeing as both Skier Dude and Quadell seem to have vanished, there are few experts on image copyright available, so perhaps you would review the contributions of Stundra. All his recent images seem to be claimed taken by him and tagged as public domain. Some of the people images are of people who died in 1971 and earlier, even some of the older uploads. Authorship and licence appear to be false. What are your thoughts; should they be sent to WP:IfD? Thanks ww2censor (talk) 15:34, 14 April 2010 (UTC)

I'd first present him with the reasons why you think his images are not properly tagged, and give him an opportunity to come clean and get the images deleted or tagged properly, failing which list the whole lot on WP:PUI. Stifle (talk) 15:41, 14 April 2010 (UTC)

Centro de Investigación y Desarrollo Tecnológico en Electroquímica

Hi Stifle. I have rejected your speedy deletion request regarding Centro de Investigación y Desarrollo Tecnológico en Electroquímica. This is a tricky one, but I think that being a public-funded research organisation would be a credible enough claim of significance or importance for the article at least to require discussion at AFD. This organisation sounds awfully like the Max Planck institutes in Germany, which I would certainly consider to be notable. Best wishes, Rje (talk) 11:46, 17 April 2010 (UTC)

Cf. Google News / GN Archive about sources for Bernat Quintana, who seems to be actually notable, as well as sourceable. It's certainly not my subject, nor my language, but even for me it was easy to do it, so I suppose you could have equally well. Sanctions

Stifle, thanks for dropping a note about sanctions. I'll read them. Tuscumbia (talk) 13:33, 19 April 2010 (UTC)

Saxstudio, who seems to be a spokesman for Black, posted four links to 3 articles and a user talk page this afternoon. I've reverted two of the articles, but left the main Black article alone. I posted a note on Saxstudio's talk page asking them to not to that again. I've subsequently read the links, and it's not four links to four articles, it's four links to the same article posted on four websites. If you've got a chance, would you mind reviewing them and determine if they're helpful on the page. From my view, they don't help with the article. Thanks! Ravensfire (talk) 00:49, 20 April 2010 (UTC)

Nothing wrong with posting them on talk; adding more than one link to the same content to a [Wikipedia] article is unhelpful and should be reverted. Stifle (talk) 08:15, 20 April 2010 (UTC)
Thanks! Appreciate your willingness to step in the middle of things on that article. Ravensfire (talk) 13:14, 20 April 2010 (UTC)
Is it actually proper for Wikipedia to host links to off-wiki attack articles dedicated to stalking an editor in good standing? They're factually challenged, they provide a completely biased and unbalanced presentation of Black's viewpoint, and there is an obvious unwillingness to comply with Wikipedia policy. Can you help me understand how having those links posted all over talkpages is appropriate? //Blaxthos ( t / c ) 18:22, 20 April 2010 (UTC)
I checked the relevant policy and there doesn't seem to be anything prohibiting it. Stifle (talk) 21:32, 20 April 2010 (UTC)
Isn't the actual relevant policy WP:TALK? I see several points in WP:TPNO that seem directly on point, and I certainly don't think fomenting the sort of behavior we're seeing off-site as being in the spirit of Wikipedia's goals. //Blaxthos ( t / c ) 00:08, 21 April 2010 (UTC)
I can see reasons for and against. Perhaps WP:ANI is a better venue, because I'm not certain how to take this forward. Stifle (talk) 08:06, 21 April 2010 (UTC)
Acknowledged. Would it be too much to ask that you bring the concern to ANI directly? I feel that my involvement as the "headliner" in the off-wiki attacks, as well as the intended target of the stalking/attempted outing, may color the request in such a way that it isn't taken as seriously as it probably should. Thanks! //Blaxthos ( t / c ) 10:38, 21 April 2010 (UTC)

You need to complete the email template at WP:CONSENT and send it to permissions-en@wikimedia.org. Stifle (talk) 19:21, 21 April 2010 (UTC)

We can do that later to suit the system. I'm on a deadline now, but happy to look at that form next week. Obviously no one filled out such a form for the existing image--which you can use--but it is fuzzy, I have sent the email with the permission and posted it here. If WP needs a proper form, I can handle it next week. Right now BTW, researching 1870-1920 immigration to Ireland. Original records are vague. A bit fascinating. BTW, for my sake, I do not need the entry pretty or sparse, with a cover that is fuzzy or sharp, as long as the text is not inaccurate. Thank you to all those sending emails. I appreciate them. Among those received was a suggestion just now that in addition to posting the IBM color graphic, we also post the Holocaust-era documents from concentration camps, internal correspondence and so forth. Some of these originally ran in the Sunday Times and many on TV. Numerous Wikipedians, including Stifle, now have a copy of zip which includes a variety of pdfs and gifs, some English some German, that might be useful since they are explicit. This is the same zip distributed to my various Continuing Legal Education courses and Business Ethics lectures. I do not know how to upload the zip, but I am happy to grant permission on the form previously mentioned. Or if anyone wants their own copy of the zip for review to help improve the article under discussion, just contact me via inquiry@edwinblack.com. Hello Joe. Thank you for the offer to upload. However, I cannot participate in this process by editing, adding, uploading and so forth. I do not wish to edit in, self-promote on, or even be visible in Wikipedia as it stands now. However, while I cannot participate in the process, I can serve the process. I entered an account in my real name only to correct errors about me and my work and to stop the wholesale actions which have already been written about elsewhere and do not need to be recited here again. My approach is to provide whatever information you need to be correct, informed and better--books, documentation, information, notification, correction--whatever works to improve articles out of inaccuracy. I do not need articles about me and my work to be complete, up to date, pretty and so forth. If they are, okay. I always react to misinformation and false information with genuine information. As I stated, I prefer I be absent from these pages. But I am happy to help you and others in the process so what you do have is factual and balanced. I am happy to say that through the efforts of you Joe and many others in big and small ways--Sam in Geneva, even Andries (yes I have been watching your work) and many others in Latin America and Europe--the situation has stabilized and moving in the right direction away from what others have called Cherry-Picking, Policy Shopping and Civil POV Pushing. I see better text right now. So, Joe, I will grant you and all others on Wikipedia the authority to upload documents, better pictures, and provide citations when you need them to improve your articles that touch on me and my work. I do this every day and have done it every day for many years with students, History Day projects, ordinary individuals and so forth and I am happy to do it here. I do this through email or the phone and anyone can ask me anything. I would like to add that once we move off this topic, and move on... I am happy to be a passive resource to other Wikipedians on any topic in my portfolio: energy, Iran nuclear, Abrahamic religious history, eugenics, transportation, Jewish communal, alt fuel, movie music and other themes I focus on. I do this every day ten or fifteen times per day and I am backlogged months with reader requests. Anyone can contact me at inquiry@edwinblack.com and I will try to prioritize your email. Let me not fail to thank many Wikipedians both with names and without who have been so helpful on Wikipedia and offline, and I thank my staff who have helped me keep up with the fast pace on so many pages.I have learned something about Wikipedians in recent days. There are some very bad apples in your barrel--and every barrel in society. But there are many more wonderful, powerfully intellectual minds, fighting for a good purpose of broad knowledge in a profoundly imperfect structure. To these men and women, you have my respect and thanks and if I can help you persevere, I shall. Edwin Black

Adding Machine Prop delete

I am changing your PROD for The Adding Machine: Collected Essays to a full WP:AFD. My interpretation of your rationale is you allege the topic is fictional or the book does not exist, and/or you're trying to set some sort of precedent for deleting a book article based on lack of sources. Such topics need AFD debate. I will notify you when the AFD nomination has been updated. 23skidoo (talk) 20:10, 30 April 2010 (UTC)

  • AFD nomination is now located here. You are of course invited to expand upon your opinions as to why this article should not exist. It's worth noting that the AFD nomination automatically adds a section with third-party links to sources regarding the topic (this is a new feature, I think). 23skidoo (talk) 20:19, 30 April 2010 (UTC)
