speedy delete of Kong[edit]

On 29 Oct you rejected my speedy delete of Kong (band). You stated that an assertion of releasing six albums amounts to an assertion of notability. I disagree. The music notability criteria state that albums are relevant for notability if they are released on "an independent label with a history of more than a few years and a roster of performers, many of which are notable". No such assertion was made in the Kong article; on the contrary it strongly implied that the albums were self-produced. I find no assertion that any notability criteria are met. Rather, the article actually called the band "undeniably obscure". I don't know how a group can be both notable and "undeniably obscure." Since the article asserted no notability criteria and went out of its way to assert obscurity, speedy seemed like a no-brainer to me. If you disagree, fine. I don't plan to revisit the issue. Please be aware that the threshold for speedy deletion is far more precise than the threshold for deletion. A band that does not meet WP:NMG should be deleted, but only when the article makes no assertion of notability whatsoever should it be speedily deleted. You remain entitled to list the article on WP:AFD and I encourage you to do so. Stifle (talk) 19:49, 1 November 2006 (UTC)[reply]

MedCab cases[edit]

Hi, I notice you have a couple of old MedCab cases that seem to be inactive. Can you check with the participants and close the cases if need be? --Ideogram 14:57, 2 November 2006 (UTC)[reply]

Thanks for the message, I'll try catching up to that shortly. Stifle (talk) 13:45, 4 November 2006 (UTC)[reply]
Just so ya know, I'm not a party to the medcab case you left on my IP talkpage [1] (regarding Wikipedia:Mediation Cabal/Cases/2006-10-27 Metropolitan Atlanta Rapid Transit Authority, I'm the work IP of Kylu, the mediation cabal coordinator. Thanks for doing such a good job though! 207.145.133.34 21:37, 4 November 2006 (UTC)[reply]

PCSX - Patent Nonsense[edit]

I never tagged PCSX as nonsense, I tagged it as copyright infringment. I didn't use the correct copyvio tag, however I noted the reasoning in the discriptor. The origional author removed my delete because tag and user:80.41.241.145 tagged it as nonsense. I still feel this article fails to establish its notability and have tagged it as such. RichMac 23:40, 6 November 2006 (UTC)[reply]

My bad, sorry for the wrong message. I've proposed that the article should be deleted. If you agree you can add the {{prod2}} tag. Stifle (talk) 21:10, 7 November 2006 (UTC)[reply]

Re: Unprotection of Bachmann Thomas and Friends[edit]

Dear Stifle, I noticed that back on 11/4 you removed the SProtect on the Bachmann Thomas and Friends article which had been SProtected 2 weeks earlier due to breach of 3RR. This is just to let you know that since the SProt was removed, myself and Discospinster have started to revert on this article again, 3 reverts and/or removals of stuff which breaches What Wikipedia is NOT since 11/11. We will leave it a little while but if this starts to become a problem again, could you look at SProt'ing the article again, or possibly going for a full protect? Thanks for your help. Thor Malmjursson 13:22, 15 November 2006 (UTC)[reply]

I've semiprotected the page again. May I please ask that in future you would avoid using edit summaries to give messages, carry on debates, or give warnings? It is not the purpose of edit summaries. Thanks. Stifle (talk) 15:30, 23 November 2006 (UTC)[reply]
Apologies for that, Stifle. The only reason I had been doing it is that I had seen other people using the edit summary for the same purpose, and I was not aware of a policy or such which referred to the edit summaries to find out what I should have been doing. Sorry again, and I will limit it purely just to actual summaries of edits in future. Thor Malmjursson 00:57, 24 November 2006 (UTC)[reply]

Re the Speedy Delete of Nephew (band)[edit]

I would be grateful if you would read the rules for Speedy Deletion more carefully, and act with more circumspection in future. Nephew are and have for a number of years been a significant band in Denmark (album currently number 2 in DK chart, current single in many Scandinavian top tens for the last couple of months); the article was put up at the time of the release of the new album because it was fairly obvious to even the dimmest lemming in Sweden that it was going to make a big splash: serious MTV play time exposure for a very radical video shoot. The fact that Google knew little or nothing about them is not always a criteria for critical assessment particularly de re subjects which the average US citizen knows nothing about. Moreover Simon Kvamm's involvement in the band already reinforced their position as significant players in Denmark & Scandinavia which if you had followed the links you would have seen. Sjc 11:50, 19 November 2006 (UTC)[reply]

The version of the page that was deleted did not contain any of these assertions of notability, or any citations to back anything up. I maintain that my deletion of the page at the time was correct, and further that the current version clearly establishes how the band is notable and should not be deleted.
Please further note that I am neither Swedish, Danish, American, nor a lemming. :) Stifle (talk) 15:15, 23 November 2006 (UTC)[reply]

MARTA cabal case[edit]

You closed the MARTA cabal case. I felt that when you accepted the case that me, AuTiger, AmazingRacer and Kokayi had all made our cases prior to your acceptance on the cabal page and the MARTA talk page. I for one did not respond after you accepted the case because I was waiting for you to respond to my concerns (I didn't have anything new to contribute to the discussion). In the interest of continuing to work on the article I would apprecaite it if you could review the case and the talk page and contribute some suggestions to facilitiate the discussion to help us through the impasse. Also AmazingRacer was part of the second cabal case that was closed, but he was never added to the first case which you chose to mediate. He might have more actively participated if he had been included. I sincerely appreciate any help you can provide. Biomedeng 17:08, 20 November 2006 (UTC)[reply]

I have reopened it and you may join any parties you wish. However, if there is no activity in the next week I will close it again. Stifle (talk) 19:21, 24 November 2006 (UTC)[reply]

Deletion of user & talk pages[edit]

Hi Stifle, regarding [2] and [3]. Would you mind restoring the pages? Bhouston signed comments all over the place, linking to these pages. They should redirect to the pages for his most recent username. The absence of these pages is causing confusion here. Thanks, Kla'quot 06:59, 23 November 2006 (UTC)[reply]

As the user involved has left Wikipedia I am not sure that restoring these would have any effect. Can you explain more what is going on? Stifle (talk) 15:33, 23 November 2006 (UTC)[reply]

Sure. For example, there are pages like this: Wikipedia:Requests_for_arbitration/Israeli_apartheid#Statement_by_Bhouston with statements by Ben. If you click his name, you should get to a page from which you can access a "User contributions" link. Right now if you click his name, you get to nothing. Kla'quot 17:08, 23 November 2006 (UTC)[reply]

OK, I've restored the page. Stifle (talk) 19:19, 24 November 2006 (UTC)[reply]

Sorry, it's me again. I hadn't realized that the user actually feels it's important to have this page deleted for privacy reasons. Could you please delete it again? Kla'quot 03:01, 4 December 2006 (UTC)[reply]

Done. Stifle (talk) 21:22, 4 December 2006 (UTC)[reply]

Image:Shnafflehund pup.jpg[edit]

I tagged this image as a speedy which you removed. I can accept that I may have categorised it incorrectly. I still believe that it should be deleted. What do you suggest? Regards LittleOldMe 17:06, 29 November 2006 (UTC)[reply]

You could list it on WP:PUI if you think the license is fraudulent, or list on WP:IFD if you think it is of no use in an encyclopedia. Stifle (talk) 18:41, 29 November 2006 (UTC)[reply]

I am going to nominate Roland Abeysekra for deletion, but I've seen you acted before so it wasn't speedily deleted. If we can't source anything its either original research or madeup. :et me know if I'm missing something. Drunken Pirate 12:50, 6 December 2006 (UTC)[reply]

No, I have no objections. I removed a speedy tag in this edit because the reason given was "Article is a little too POV; and, if he was really this notable, you'd think he would have at least one google hit?", which is not a valid criterion for speedy deletion. If you want to nominate it, go right ahead. Stifle (talk) 16:46, 6 December 2006 (UTC)[reply]

Your message to me re. speedy deletion[edit]

Yeah, that should have been {{prod}}, not {{db}}. My bad. Got a bit carried away, there... --stephenw32768<user page><talk> 18:21, 10 December 2006 (UTC)[reply]

I don't understand, why this redirect isn't delate. It's wrong gramar Stanisław J. Radziński ??? 18:30, 10 December 2006 (UTC)[reply]

Grammar is not relevant. There is a chance that someone might type this in or link to it in error. Redirects are cheap, so there is no reason to delete it. Stifle (talk) 19:09, 10 December 2006 (UTC)[reply]

Deletion for this page?[edit]

Hiya, I have been working on a page on wikipedia for the last 4 months about a group that has done a lot of pioneering work in Britain on creative activism/performance. Now it is up for deletion. I'm not quite sure why. As far as I can see I have followed the guidelines. I have just very factually given an overview of the work this organisation does and referenced info as much as possible. What can I do to make the article better? And who judges whether a group is 'Non-notable group' ? As far as I can see you have removed a box for deletion that User:Carl_Timothy_Jones added. Also, now I look at it, this user seems to have registered a few days ago and pretty much nominated all articles I've worked on for deletion. See: http://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Special:Contributions/Carl_Timothy_Jones

What can I do? WietsE 21:16, 10 December 2006 (UTC)[reply]

Telling me which article you're talking about would be a good start. You can also post on WP:ANI if you think someone is harassing/stalking you. Stifle (talk) 20:38, 11 December 2006 (UTC)[reply]

Speedy deletion[edit]

Regarding the article Taras Shevchenko - Corteo, which you tagged for speedy deletion with the reason "it is an article about a person that does not assert the person's importance or significance", I wanted you to know that I have removed the speedy deletion tag. This article does not qualify for speedy deletion because it says that he was in Cirque du Soleil, which is an assertion of notability. If you still want the article to be deleted, please use the WP:AFD process. Thanks! Stifle (talk) 13:23, 10 December 2006 (UTC)

It needs to be expanded not deleted. Bearly541 23:49, 10 December 2006 (UTC)[reply]
Then why did you tag it for deletion? Stifle (talk) 20:36, 11 December 2006 (UTC)[reply]
Tagged it for deletion because it did not have an external hyperlink, thus devaluing the article's credibility. Bearly541 00:57, 12 December 2006 (UTC)[reply]

Bauwens[edit]

Could I have access to the content of this page in order to add the content to the article on Michel Bauwens? — goethean 19:21, 13 December 2006 (UTC)[reply]

Moved to User:Goethean/Pluralities-Integration. Stifle (talk) 18:20, 14 December 2006 (UTC)[reply]

Thank you for the Barnstar[edit]

I apologize for not thanking you sooner, but I've been away.

Thank you again.
