In your recent close, you say "already a move review underway with regards to Pan (genus)", I am not aware of any review (as the proposer of both moves it would be nice to know). What am I missing? cygnis insignis

Or was, when I checked. Help me to understand what is going on, if you see what I am overlooking. There was no notification on this, I proposed the first and subsequent RM and followed all the discussions as they sprang up. There was an extensive discussion before I proposed the move. I notified every other discussion of related changes and proposals, in fairness to those who already had a say. The discussion you linked has (or had) limited participation. Would the decision to reverse the move just be presented to the surprise of those who had already participated in a discussion that was thought to be closed? The objections in the first discussion were very clear, they did not want the second discussion to happen, those who favour a multi-move discussion opposed my single-page RM for the same reason: they favour the arrangement prior to the first move and didn't want the title to be available (but think every link to that page was wrong). Everybody seems sure of their opinion, which is fine with me because I don't need to favour one or the other, and note I while opened the second RM I preferred another solution and no firm opinion on other options. Cygnis insignis, a move review is a procedure by which an editor challenges the closure of a requested move discussion. The person who starts the requested move must first attempt to gain clarification on whatever it is in the closing statement they find to be incorrect and if it cannot be reconciled, a move review is started. Users then discuss whether the closure was acceptable per closing instructions. It is not common practice to notify all of the users who took part in the requested move discussion because the move review is not about whether the page should be moved or not, rather it is about whether the closer correctly determined the consensus of the discussion. At the time of my closure of the second RM, the move review concerning the first RM was still active. I hope this clears it up for you, please let me know if you have any further questions. That does clear things up, and I should have realised that would be the sensible approach! I don't think anyone is at fault in this, but there is a lot discord in whole business and I prefer to accept some responsibility for putting this in motion. Manual page swaps

Declined Draft:Executive Office for United States Attorneys

I made some updates so that the Department of Justice is more clearly referenced with respect to paraphrased or directly copies content. What should I do about bulleted information that is pulled directly from the Federal government website. Do I need to cite every bullet if it comes from the same page? Hi again, sorry for the delay. Yes we can settle it down here. Then I should let you know why I though the closure was not proper: In ictu oculi's oppose was mainly based on 2011 Iran assassination plot, which was actually 2011 alleged Iran assassination plot. There are 3 more oppose comments; One for Icewhiz with the other two being "per Icewhiz" adding nothing to the arguments. You may see that, as the admin said, "the summary of those articles [brought up by Icewhiz] was insufficient, and amounts to synthesis of content where it instead claimed that the term "alleged" was no longer used." Later Icewhiz said fresh sources where saying it as a fact, but you can see that even fresh sources are caution with attributing the incident to Iran and instead use terms like "alleged", "claimed", "accused" and etc. That said, I think the arguments raised by the users supporting the move (me, Kraose, Saff V. and Kraose) were convincing. I suggest you install User:Writ Keeper/Scripts/deletionFinder.js. It adds links to the deletion log and previous XFDs if they exist. Draft rejection Ernest Walker Simons

Hello. I received an email saying that my new article was rejected, but you did not say what part was in violation. It referred to my use of supposedly copyrighted material. I am not sure what could possibly be copyrighted, since virtually any references to this man you will find on the Internet were written by *me* (his findagrave.com bio, etc.), and if they were not from my own written sources, the references are from works at least 100 years old, now in the public domain. There is very little written about him. Where is this copyrighted material? The photo is mine as well. Please point out the offending passages if you will. I am still very new at this, and the secret code speak here baffles me.

Thank you. Changes can be easily made here. I suspect that work is far out of any copyright, and it was not actually pasted from anywhere. I had to transcribe it from the 100-year old book. Would it be sufficient to simply leave those passages in an article simply and place quotation marks where appropriate? It’s not a big deal for me to reword it here obviously, but I would like to know for future reference, and I also have a similar article up for review concerning the Simons factory.

Hi Hugh7, the short answer is uggggghhhhhhhh! The detailed answer is that long quotes which are subject to copyright can be used under specific circumstances per WP:COPYQUOTE but it's generally favourable to slash the quote down just to the salient points to avoid a copyright dispute pre-emptively. Since I was translating and editing this draft based on the same title in Traditional Chinese (which is here) and Category: Television series by Daylight Entertainment, so probably my inexperience caused some reference mistakes. Also, because of the Great Firewall in China, it is hardly to find English references from Google or NYT covering about a specialized area in China. So the references I found are all from independent Chinese media and I am not very sure if it is okay... Draft Declined: CrazyGames (February 24) -- help with verifying traffic of a website

My article was rejected with the comment "SimilarWeb isn't significant coverage." I used Similarweb to reference the traffic to the website. What other references could I use to back this up? Or should I just leave the traffic out? I have many other references for my article and think this reference was the only problem.

Hi Alexander1803, the only citation which covered the website in any depth on the submission was SimilarWeb. My contention is that SimilarWeb documents traffic and doesn't actually show depth of coverage. Try finding major reviews from reliable publications and citing those. The references from De Morgen, Trends, and Emerce are newspaper articles, I thought they qualified as reliable publications. Is it because it is in the wrong language? How do I solve this? Hi Stenobook26, I appreciate the difficulty you're having, however, Wikipedia cannot accept content copied from elsewhere unless it is accompanied by a GFDL or CC-BY-SA license. I don't understand what 'no prejudice against speedy renomination' means, and that link is about deletion, not moves. I have read WP:NOTMOVED. This may be because 1. a discussion has fractured into several possible titles and none seem especially suitable, No. 2. or simply because equally strong arguments and appeals to Wikipedia policy and outside sources were found on both sides, without a clear winner in the discussion. Ythlev, I know that page is about deletions but it is, in practice, used in move discussion closures as well. "No prejudice against speedy renomination" means you can start a new requested move with the same rationale and ping the users who contributed in the previous discussion and the closure of the resultant discussion will not take into account the speediness of the renomination. As I have said, we do not relist discussions ad infinitum. I determined there to be no consensus for or against the move and closed it accordingly. Bio copyright rejection for Manuel Cortes Castaneda

Deletion of Draft:Al Pancho

Hello, Thank you so much for contributing to Wikipedia. It is an amazing site.

- I am writing because I created a new page (Al Pancho) and it was rejected for copyright violation twice and now I have been blocked from creating the page. - After the first copyright violation I explained that I had been given permission to reproduce some of the information (on www.alpancho.com). - The second violation was about www.discogs.com but that is the same information, which I have been given permission to reproduce. However, I was not given the chance to explain that and was blocked. That said, I do appreciate all the users efforts to continue to make Wikipedia such an awesome site :)

- It was also rejected because of whether Al Pancho is sufficiently notable. Al Pancho is a fairly well-known music artist. He has a link from a Wikipedia page. He has worked with a lot of famous music artists and smaller artists, all of whom have Wikipedia pages.

- I noticed he didn't have a Wikipedia page when I looked him up. So, I created one for him. I spent a lot of time learning the Wikipedia source code so that it was created correctly. I was also careful to write an unbiased article.

Hi SITH. My latest draft was flagged for copyright violations. I'm very confused as to what to qualify as a copyright infringement. I'm new to the process so I'm pleading ignorance here. The previous reviewer flagged concerns with tone and secondary sources that I sought to address, but there was no mention of concern with copyright. I stripped out an offending section and I've since added a large number of secondary sources as references but did not copy content or include content without a reference. Hello, I feel that the RM at Talk: Justin Gabriel could have been relisted another time. WP:RM says that discussions can be relisted up to three times. It even seems there was consensus to move the page. I know it's not a vote, but there was 4 supports and 3 opposes, 2 of the opposes being labeled "weak" by the commenters. The supports were backed by two guidelines, with opposes saying Gabriel might still be the common name. Hi Usimodo, just as a procedural point, thanks for disclosing your conflict of interest, I've just slightly altered the code on your userpage to ensure the box displays correctly. You can use the OTRS process to confidentially submit proof that the material used on her website is being used with her consent, or you can ask her to explicitly state on the website that the text is not copyrighted and is released under a free license such as GNU, GFDL, CC BY-SA. 1) Note that I disclosed our friendship when I first submitted the content for review on Nov. 25, 2018, where I stated, "This person is a neighbor and friend."
2) I think the simplest solution would be to have her state on her website that the text is not copyrighted and is released under a free license. I will discuss this with her.
3) If we go the route I describe in #2, the content of the Wikipedia page can remain as is, correct? I will let you know via this talk page as soon as we've solved the issue.

Ditikeni draft rejection - copyright

Good day, It has come to my attention that my draft article on Ditikeni was rejected, due to supposed copyright infringements. I would like to query this - firstly, I am not sure whch part of the article is being referred to. Secondly, the supposed copyrighted copy was originally included as a reference, but I was then informed I should remove the reference in favour of more broad, academic etc references that did not come from the source of the article itself. I am wondering if you can give me clearer instructions for how I can improve my page. It says that the page "included copyrighted content," however all of the content in this page was re-worded and re-phrased, and was not copied from anywhere directly. I understand that it may have similar content to the McGill Univerisity page mcgill.ca/sociology/faculty/eran-shor, however it was all re-worded and not copied directly.

How should I cite Eran Shor's research interests? Is it okay for me to only cite the McGill page, as his research interests are not found in other sources?

The list of publications is directly copied across, but per the guideline, that's okay as it's a common-knowledge standard-format list. My apologies for the decline. It is in the age category it would have been in had it not been declined i.e. its seniority is maintained, but there is no particular reviewing order. In reviewing the new pages feed I noticed Liquefied Natural Gas (LNG) in Canada and your ESSAY and NOR comment at the top. It appears to be a well sourced article and contains some encylopedic contant. However, I also see much duplication with the generic LNG page where it has a great deal of info unrelated to the specifics of LNG in Canada. She described icon painting as “an act of worship”, stating that the painstaking nature of the work gave her time to reflect and to pray. She often stated that it was not possible to be an iconographer without prayer.
Aside from the first, short sentence (whose origin I haven't investigated), the entire thing is filched verbatim from this web page. If Wikipedia welcomed material copied from other web pages, then the honest way to do this would be something like:
Sr. Aloysius began painting Icons in 1986. "[H]er [...] painting, Our Lady of Derry, marked her transition from artist to iconographer. Hello, talk page stalker here. You have to understand two things.
First, the text that you are recycling was/is PR material, designed to increase interest rather than describe or explain. Meanwhile, this is an encyclopedia, whose purpose is to describe or explain. Regardless of its copyright status, PR material is unwelcome here.
Need an illustration? Try "a new and unique brand of well-crafted and culturally relevant pop music". What (if anything) does "culturally relevant" mean? Which reliable, disinterested authorities have called it new, unique, well-crafted or "culturally relevant", and precisely where did they call it so? (Promoters are of course not disinterested.)
Secondly, if copyright isn't claimed (or if somebody says that material isn't copyrighted), that doesn't mean that it's not copyrighted. For text not to be copyrighted, it must be in the public domain (in the legal sense of this term, not in any more popular sense). Since it's obvious that this text is pretty new, in order to be in the public domain it must be explicitly donated to the public domain. Hello! I was trying to create a Meimeiwawa English Wiki page to accompany its already established zh-tw counterpart.

I understand that you're concerned about not enough secondary resources reporting on it directly, but a.) the Chinese page is already established and b.) a lot of the sources are not in English.

I have saved a new draft that mentions more citations, but they are in Chinese. Meimeiwawa is an established bilingual/multicultural company that exists in a country where there are very few "legitimate" English publications, so if you'll accept the Chinese sources that would be marvelous. If not, then I'll just hold off until more secondary English references come up.

Permission to Resubmit Draft: Hengameh (Singer)

Hello: I worked really hard on [[2]] and the page has been deleted due to alleged copyright infringement from two websites. Both websites have the same content, which is my (the artist at issue) biography. Both of these websites got these biographies from my former website which is no longer active. Would I still need to remove the content, despite me being the copyright owner? I put my biography out in the public domain for free use by anybody. Please let me know if this changes things or if I need to resubmit all together. If I do need to resubmit, can I please get the draft back in order to make the changes? Hi SBavafa, if you publish on your current website a copyright waiver notice and tag the text on Wikipedia with a free license tag that should be fine. You'll need to contact the deleting administrator for a copy. May I also recommend you declare your conflict of interest on your userpage using Template:UserboxCOI?
