You're user-name may be considered offensive (especially for people knowlegdeable in German); pray think about using another one Lectonar 11:19, 26 October 2005 (UTC)[reply]

Thank you for your anxiety, but if I'm not talking offensive, I don't think that there will be any problems. And actualy usualy I have problems with people not knowlegdeable in German ;)

Choosing a misspelled Nazi paramilitary rank (Sturmführer) of the SA that was also used as a regular rank by the SS as a handle is at least very poor taste and looks designed to offend a great many people. I have asked others for their opinions on Wikipedia:Requests for comment/User names. I would suggest that you commence editing under a new and less inflammatory handle on your own. Why do you think that you can comment my taste?
Wikipedia:Username#Inappropriate_usernames is why. See also Wikipedia:Requests for comment/User names. Alai 01:05, 7 December 2005 (UTC)[reply]
I'm not promoting some kind of hatred. This is my nickname for many years and there is no reason to change it. When I made my account, there were no conditions, so... with all my respect, DO NOT comment it. That's the end of the discussion.

Find a new name. This one's blocked. Thanks - David Gerard 22:14, 7 December 2005 (UTC)[reply]

Blocked? :) Yeah, sure. There is no reason for me to find a new name.
Indeed yes, blocked. Alai 05:08, 11 December 2005 (UTC)[reply]
Ok, guys, sorry, but your and my vision for FREE encyclopedia that everyone can edit are totaly different. Goodbye from me. This is MY nickname, it presents ME(for many years and not only in the internet. all my frieds call me Sturm) and it's my right to use it. And of course yours to block me. Thanks for the hard work here and good luck!
You wouldn't have been blocked for using User:Sturm (though that one happens to be taken). If your friends address you as "Sturmfu(e)hrer" in RL... then I'd better refrain from further comment. Alai 19:31, 13 December 2005 (UTC)[reply]
Of course, they don't call me Sturmführer. But the question is of principle. Can you explain me what's the actual problem in the nick? I'm not even writing in military articles.
I already pointed you to the relevant policy, above. Specifically, it certainly seems to fall under the category of "Names which refer to symbols of racial/ethnic/national/religious/homophobic hatred, including historical figures who are widely associated with such" and probably also "Names which refer to violent real world actions". The problem isn't with military articles, it's that such a name would be seen as a reference to Nazism, which is provocative in a any number of contexts. Alai 03:07, 15 December 2005 (UTC)[reply]
