Ways to improve September 17, 1969[edit]

Hi, I'm Babymissfortune. Sullay, thanks for creating September 17, 1969!

I've just tagged the page, using our page curation tools, as having some issues to fix. The album's notability is being questioned.

The tags can be removed by you or another editor once the issues they mention are addressed. If you have questions, you can leave a comment on my talk page. Or, for more editing help, talk to the volunteers at the Teahouse.

Babymissfortune 16:27, 9 January 2018 (UTC)[reply]

Hello, Babymissfortune. While I have no idea how could a popular studio album by a Grammy-winning artist be in any way NOT notable, I have noted your message and will start contributing to the article in a jiffy. Regards, Sullay (Let's talk about it) 16:30, 9 January 2018 (UTC)[reply]

Voting Coordinators for WikiProject Nigeria[edit]

Hi, the election for the post of coordinator for the WikiProject Nigeria has began. The election will be conducted using simple approval voting. Any member of the project may support as many of the candidates as they wish. The candidate with the highest number of endorsements will become the lead coordinator (provided he or she is willing to assume the post); the next highly voted for candidate as assistant coordinator. If you feel you have what it takes to be a coordinator, you're encouraged to nominate yourself here. The voting page is here. Regards, Mahveotm (talk) 17:58, 19 January 2018 (UTC)[reply]

Sources needed for Days of the Year pages[edit]

You're probably not aware but Days of the Year pages are no longer exempt from WP:V and direct sources are required for additions. For details see the WikiProject Days of the Year style guide. The article about the person you added to February 25 did not have any source that I could add to this page to back up your addition so this change has been reverted. Please do not restore it without providing a direct reliable source. Thank you. Toddst1 (talk) 21:32, 14 February 2018 (UTC)[reply]

Managing a conflict of interest[edit]

Information icon Hello, Sullay. We welcome your contributions, but if you have an external relationship with the people, places or things you have written about in the article Lammin Sullay, you may have a conflict of interest (COI). Editors with a COI may be unduly influenced by their connection to the topic. See the conflict of interest guideline and FAQ for organizations for more information. We ask that you:

  • avoid editing or creating articles about yourself, your family, friends, company, organization or competitors;
  • propose changes on the talk pages of affected articles (see the {{request edit}} template);
  • disclose your COI when discussing affected articles (see WP:DISCLOSE);
  • avoid linking to your organization's website in other articles (see WP:SPAM);
  • do your best to comply with Wikipedia's content policies.

In addition, you must disclose your employer, client, and affiliation with respect to any contribution for which you receive, or expect to receive, compensation (see WP:PAID).

Also please note that editing for the purpose of advertising, publicising, or promoting anyone or anything is not permitted. Thank you. Toddst1 (talk) 21:33, 14 February 2018 (UTC)[reply]

Hello, Toddst1. I didn't know it was that serious to choose my username based on a writer I am fond of. Do I need to change my username in order for the article that has been here for two years not to vanish? Is it prohibited to have a foreign surname (e.g. Hemingway) as your username? I don't receive any compensation for any of the articles I've created, not am I trying to advert, publicise or promote a writer who's been dead for almost 14 years. I just chose my username after his surname. Had I known what a great problem it were to bring me in the future, I certainly wouldn't have done it. Regards, Sullay (Let's talk about it) 21:50, 14 February 2018 (UTC)[reply]
Your user name is fine, aside from implying that you might be related. Toddst1 (talk) 21:51, 14 February 2018 (UTC)[reply]
I chose my username simply because I am an avid fan of his work, Toddst1. I cannot prove that it isn't my surname by any other way than by giving you my personal details; showing you my passport or something alike. If that's the only way to prove you whatever you think needs to be proven, I shall certainly do it. Regards, Sullay (Let's talk about it) 21:55, 14 February 2018 (UTC)[reply]

A tag has been placed on Lammin Sullay requesting that it be speedily deleted from Wikipedia. This has been done under section A7 of the criteria for speedy deletion, because the article appears to be about a real person or group of people, but it does not credibly indicate how or why the subject is important or significant: that is, why an article about that subject should be included in an encyclopedia. Under the criteria for speedy deletion, such articles may be deleted at any time. Please read more about what is generally accepted as notable.

If you think this page should not be deleted for this reason, you may contest the nomination by visiting the page and clicking the button labelled "Contest this speedy deletion". This will give you the opportunity to explain why you believe the page should not be deleted. However, be aware that once a page is tagged for speedy deletion, it may be deleted without delay. Please do not remove the speedy deletion tag from the page yourself, but do not hesitate to add information in line with Wikipedia's policies and guidelines. If the page is deleted, and you wish to retrieve the deleted material for future reference or improvement, then please contact the deleting administrator. Disambiguation link notification for February 27[edit]

Hi. Thank you for your recent edits. An automated process has detected that when you recently edited Africanus Horton (crater), you added a link pointing to the disambiguation page Creole (check to confirm | fix with Dab solver). Such links are usually incorrect, since a disambiguation page is merely a list of unrelated topics with similar titles. (Read the FAQ • Join us at the DPL WikiProject.)

It's OK to remove this message. Also, to stop receiving these messages, follow these opt-out instructions. Thanks, DPL bot (talk) 09:19, 27 February 2018 (UTC)[reply]

Famousbirthdays.com as a source[edit]

Hi Sullay. I noticed that you recently used famousbirthdays.com as a source for information in a biography article, Shawn Fonteno. Please note that there is general consensus that famousbirthdays.com does not meet the reliable sourcing criteria for the inclusion of personal information in such articles. (See Wikipedia:Reliable_sources/Noticeboard/Archive_153#Is_famousbirthdays.com_a_reliable_source_for_personal_information). If you disagree, let's discuss it. Thanks. --Ronz (talk) 16:48, 9 March 2018 (UTC)[reply]

Orphaned non-free image File:Astrud Gilberto's Now.jpg[edit]

⚠

Thanks for uploading File:Astrud Gilberto's Now.jpg. The image description page currently specifies that the image is non-free and may only be used on Wikipedia under a claim of fair use. However, the image is currently not used in any articles on Wikipedia. If the image was previously in an article, please go to the article and see why it was removed. You may add it back if you think that that will be useful. However, please note that images for which a replacement could be created are not acceptable for use on Wikipedia (see our policy for non-free media).

Note that any non-free images not used in any articles will be deleted after seven days, as described in section F5 of the criteria for speedy deletion. Thank you. --B-bot (talk) 17:51, 17 March 2018 (UTC)[reply]

Canta in Italiano (Astrud Gilberto album)[edit]

Were the problems fixed? You didn't get a response to your help desk question.— Vchimpanzee • talk • contributions • 21:41, 26 March 2018 (UTC)[reply]

Hey! According to the talk page of Canta in Italiano (Astrud Gilberto album), no one has edited the article after me, so no. It's sad how no-one here seems to speak Italian. God knows how many articles there are with foreign language written all f'd up. Regards, Sullay (Let's talk about it) 07:12, 27 March 2018 (UTC)[reply]

Hi, I'm RonBot, a script that checks new non-free file uploads. I have found that the subject image that you recently uploaded was more than 5% in excess of the Non-free content guideline size of 100,000 pixels. I have tagged the image for a standard reduction, which (for jpg/gif/png/svg files) normally happens within a day. Please check the reduced image, and make sure that the image is not excessively corrupted. Other files will be added to Category:Wikipedia non-free file size reduction requests for manual processing. There is a full seven-day period before the original oversized image will be hidden; during that time you might want to consider editing the original image yourself (perhaps an initial crop to allow a smaller reduction or none at all). A formula for calculation the desired size can be found at WP:Image resolution, along with instructions on how to tag the image in the rare cases that it requires an oversized image (typically about 0.2% of non-free uploads are tagged as necessarily oversized). Please contact the bot owner if you have any questions, or you can ask them at Wikipedia talk:Non-free content. RonBot (talk) 17:07, 7 June 2018 (UTC)[reply]

AfroCine: The Months of African Cinema Continues….[edit]

Greetings!

Thank you very much for signing up to participate in the Months of African Cinema global contest/edit-a-thon, and thank you for your contributions so far.

It is already the middle of the contest and a lot have been achieved already! We have been able to get over 200 articles created in over seven (7) languages! The figures soars to up to a thousand, if Wikidata entries are included. Furthermore, there have been about 5 in-person gatherings of Wikipedians in different countries across the world to create articles about African(a) cinema!

We are very excited about what has been achieved so far, but your contributions are still needed to further exceed all expectations! Let’s create more articles before the end of this contest, which is this November!!!

  • Article suggestions can be found here. You can also add to this list.
  • Some notable reliable sources for African cinema can be found here. Again, this list needs expansion.
  • Interested in Wikidata translation? check out the Occupation Drive, which is being led by Wiki Loves Women, in support of the contest and the project!
  • Please remember to list articles you have created or improved in the Article Achievements section of the contest page, so that they can be easily tracked.

Thank you once again for being part of this global event!

Kind regards.--Jamie Tubers (talk) 22:50, 10 November 2018 (UTC)[reply]

December 2018[edit]

Information icon Hello. Some of your recent genre changes, such as the one you made to Deep Purple, have conflicted with our neutral point of view and verifiability policies. When others disagree, we recommend you seek consensus for certain edits by discussing the matter on the article's talk page. Thank you. Egghead06 (talk) 11:09, 4 December 2018 (UTC)[reply]
