Drosera dielsiana
[edit]Hi there,
Regarding the article Drosera dielsiana. Whilst all contributions are very welcome, all information must be backed up by reliable, solid references - we can't just say "My own personal knowledge", otherwise I could create an article saying I was president of America.
I hope you understand; please read WP:REF, WP:V and WP:RS for more info.
If I can help in any way, please leave me a note on my talk page.
Best wishes, -- Chzz ► 20:57, 29 March 2009 (UTC)

Hello, Sundewman. Welcome to Wikipedia! I noticed you've just joined, and wanted to give you a few tips to get you started.
Good luck with editing; please drop me a line some time on my own talk page. There's lots of information below. Once again, welcome to the fantastic world of Wikipedia!

Hi, Aaron! Nice to see you again. If you don't recall, we met briefly at Nathan's CP gathering last year (I missed the spring gathering this year). I wanted to welcome you to Wikipedia and also explain why User:Mgiganteus1 and I have been removing the link to your site. It's a really great site, but Wikipedia has some pretty strict policies, which I'll hopefully explain here. First, it's considered a conflict of interest to use your own site as a reference or external link. We're also discouraged from using our personal websites as references; see Wikipedia's definition of a reliable source. Now, I do use Barry Rice's website sarracenia.com as a reference since he's a known expert in the field, so there are exceptions. The important thing here is to note where you got that information in the first place for your website. When you wrote that D. adelae is usually grown in cool temperatures, you gave a range - where did those numbers come from? Can we cite that source; does it pass WP:RS? If it was a personal observation, you should note that Wikipedia does not allow original research to be published. I should also mention that Wikipedia is not an instruction manual so shouldn't usually contain how-to guides for their cultivation. I usually stick to describing their habitats in their native range. Anyway, I hope this helps. Let me know if you have any questions and take a look at the WikiProject where we coordinate our efforts: Wikipedia:WikiProject Carnivorous plants.
