User sandbox contains unconfirmed game / Are unconfirmed game titles be in user sandbox(es)

This help request has been answered. If you need more help, place a new {{help me}} request on this page followed by your questions, contact the responding user(s) directly on their user talk page, or consider visiting the Teahouse.

I know that unconfirmed game titles, example The Sims 4 (unconfirmed at posting time), is subject to speculation by community users at large, however, since The Sims 3 was nominated for Good Article recently, but due to issues within the article, The Sims 3 failed to meet standards (see The Sims 3 talk page) and I was wondering, since I am redoing The Sims 3 article offline, later to user sandbox for critiques, may I be allowed to start the preliminary stages of The Sims 4 (working title; at this posting time, unconfirmed by EA Games / Maxis while a representative confirmed in early 2009 or 2010 that production of the next generation of an E.A. Flagship Franchise is in production; source Twitter account by EA Games, yes I know unreliable). Since the latter, EA Representative, eluded to the production of Flagship of an EA Franchise is currently being produced, so in essence, may I start, as a preliminary phase, start the process of The Sims 4 article in my user sandbox without being flagged for unreliable and/or unconfirmed game title that is purely speculation mode without having actual EA Press Release to cite / reference to? If I am allowed, should I flag it as working title or something else? Or wait until the actual Press Release of EA will release in the future? This is basic worded topic and if you are confused or unsure, please leave questions below and I'll answer them when they are here. Thanks. Sundogs Wikia UserPage 03:44, 23 March 2013 (UTC)

See the answer below - you can start to prepare a page about a future game in a sandbox or userspace draft page, provided it is likely to become an article in the reasonably near future. JohnCD (talk) 10:25, 23 March 2013 (UTC)

Possible / How To: Multiple Sandboxes

This help request has been answered. If you need more help, place a new {{help me}} request on this page followed by your questions, contact the responding user(s) directly on their user talk page, or consider visiting the Teahouse.

Another innocent question, are we allowed to have multiple sandboxes? The reason is, I would love to edit more here on Wikipedia and I am a member of several Wiki Projects and I don't feel to clog up one sandbox with vast amount of article rewrites. And so, question being, saying like this way, on the main User sandbox have the articles topics that I am working on (such as The Sims 3, World Championship Wrestling, [[Kevin Keller (comics}]], and so on and have individualized articles topics that have good article nominations failures that needs to be rewritten on here with link to the users sub sandbox for that article, like The Sims 3 or World Championship Wrestling and so on. Another question regarding the sub sub sandbox, for example in this exact area reason is the game play of The Sims 3 being asked to be split of into its own article like other video game play article (see The Sims 3 talk page or over on my sandbox and tell me if I am allowed to make a sub sandbox or a sub sub sandbox? And lastly, how would I create these sub sandboxes? Is it like creating a User_talk:Sundogs/sandbox/Article_Name title? Thanks. Sundogs Wikia UserPage 04:56, 23 March 2013 (UTC)

Yes, you can have as many sandboxes as you like. They don't have to be called "sandbox", though if you like you can call them "Sandbox 1", "Sandbox 2" etc. Any page which starts with "User:Sundogs/" is a sub-page in your user space. A good way to make one for a draft article is to go to Help:Userspace draft and fill in the title: that will make a sub-page for you. It is a good thing to put {{User sandbox}} or {{Userspace draft}} at the top, to make clear that it is not an article.
Read WP:User pages for what you can and can't do in them. Attack pages and advertisements are not allowed and may be speedy-deleted. Article drafts are fine, and don't have to obey article rules like notability and verifiability, as long as they are actually being used with a view to making a proper article in the reasonably near future, but made-up fantasies and things that don't seem to be going to be a useful article may be nominated for deletion at WP:MFD.

Hello, I'm Jeff G.. I noticed that you recently removed some content from Talk:The Sims 3 with this edit without explaining why. In the future, it would be helpful to others if you described your changes to Wikipedia with an edit summary. If this was a mistake, don't worry, the removed content has been restored. If you think I made a mistake, or if you have any questions, you can leave me a message on my talk page. Thanks,   — Jeff G. ツ (talk) 18:56, 23 March 2013 (UTC)

User created Navigation Boxes

This help request has been answered. If you need more help, place a new {{help me}} request on this page followed by your questions, contact the responding user(s) directly on their user talk page, or consider visiting the Teahouse.

Is it possible without getting into trouble to have user created navigational boxes on sub-pages? If it is would the listing on my sandbox be sufficient? Thanks Sundogs Wikia UserPage 18:12, 28 March 2013 (UTC)

I don't think I understand the question. Sub-pages of what? Firstly, all navigational boxes are user-created - who else would create them? Secondly, templates such as navigational boxes should usually be in the Template: namespace, with some rare exceptions such as userboxes which may be kept in userspace. If the template is to be used on articles, it definitely belongs into the Template: namespace. You may create a draft in a sub-page of your userspace, but when it's ready for use, it should be moved to Template: space. Huon (talk) 22:53, 28 March 2013 (UTC)
Sub-pages found off of my Username (i.e. User:Sundogs/The Bourne Identity (novel), User:Sundogs/Jason Bourne, User:Sundogs/The Sims 3, User:Sundogs/World Championship Wrestling and others that are found on my sandbox). As far as user created navigational boxes is merely a link to the pages that I am working on (based on User:Sundogs/sandbox pages that I linked to from there) without going to my sandbox each time to look at the other pages that I am working on. Sundogs Wikia UserPage 23:09, 28 March 2013 (UTC)
So basically you want a navbox that lists your userspace sub-pages? I don't see any ojection to having that in yet another sub-page of your userspace. We also have Special:PrefixIndex/User:Sundogs/, though. Huon (talk) 23:20, 28 March 2013 (UTC)

Your Wikipedia signature

Hello, Sundogs. The signature you have used recently, Sundogs Wikia UserPage, may not comply with Wikipedia's signature guidelines. It appears that the second part may be an attempt to link to your Wikia userpage. External links are not allowed in a Wikipedia signature. It isn't a definite violation because the link does not work as an external link. It links only to a page that does not exist with Wikipedia's standard output for nonexistent pages. Please modify your signature to comply with Wikipedia signature guidelines. Thanks, DocTree (ʞlɐʇ·cont) Join WER 16:49, 31 March 2013 (UTC)

Then it violates the Wikia signature policy to list Wikipedia related signature. Sundogs Wikipedia UserPage My Wikipedia Sandbox 17:18, 31 March 2013 (UTC)
YOU WROTE: I hope this new signature is up to date. However it DOES violate other Wikia sites that does not want to be cross promotional with Wikipedia. So, what is that best way to honor the Wikia sites that I edit at and Wikipedia site rules? Sundogs Wikipedia UserPage My Wikipedia Sandbox 17:15, 31 March 2013 (UTC)
I REPLY: Hi again, Sundogs. The new signature is good but you can drop the Wikipedia and just use Userpage and Sandbox since it will be understood that they are your pages on Wikipedia. A short paragraph that you are also active on Wikia pages with a link to your Wikia Userpage would be acceptable on your userpage if it isn't promotional or overly long. There are even a couple of Wikia userboxes (scroll down because they're listed alphabetically) that you may want to use. Take care, DocTree (ʞlɐʇ·cont) Join WER 17:43, 31 March 2013 (UTC)

Bringing up an issue about naming articles

This help request has been answered. If you need more help, place a new {{help me}} request on this page followed by your questions, contact the responding user(s) directly on their user talk page, or consider visiting the Teahouse.

Due to Wikipedia rules on naming an article, my main issue is the novel (or books) department that goes into film or another adaptation. For example, The Bourne Identity (novel), The Bourne Identity (1988 film), The Bourne Identity (2002 film), The Bourne Supremacy (novel), The Bourne Supremacy (film), The Bourne Supremacy (soundtrack), The Bourne Ultimatum, The Bourne Ultimatum (film), The Bourne Ultimatum (soundtrack), The Bourne Trilogy, Jason Bourne (franchise), The Bourne Legacy, The Bourne Legacy (film), and any other novel turn movie or other derivative form should be listed as disambiguate page. But some of the "powers at be" think otherwise. Please explain to me, who is a high functioning mentally retarded individual nearing 70 IQ to understand that The Bourne Identity (novel), The Bourne Supremacy (novel) different than The Bourne Ultimatum and any other novel franchise from novel into derivative form? Sundogs UserPage My sandbox 00:16, 3 April 2013 (UTC)

Edit: This includes television series as well like Big Brother, Survivor, The Amazing Race, Who Wants to be a Millionaire, Top Model, The Biggest Loser and so on. So why is it applied to derivative form? Sundogs UserPage My sandbox 00:25, 3 April 2013 (UTC)
I don't think there's a general rule; for each title we have to decide which subject - book or film - is the most relevant, and that gets pride of place. If neither is clearly the primary topic, the title without qualifiers is turned into a disambiguation page. That's what happened to Identity and Supremacy, while for Ultimatum the book was deemed more relevant. As I said, since it's decided on a page-by-page basis, we cannot expect consistency over an entire series. Huon (talk) 01:15, 3 April 2013 (UTC)
Hello Sundogs, I understand your frustration. There seems to be little consensus on how to name articles. Here are some pages on Wikipedia's policy on article names/titles which may have potentially useful information:
As you will see upon reading the above (especially the MOS Register of Article Title discussions), there has been considerable discussion over a long period of time about establishing conventions for article titles. These discussions haven't lead to many decisions, unfortunately. You may want to take some initiative to try to establish some conventions about article titles but I imagine it may be a tough task. Even as a simple editor, you have the ability to begin and moderate such an effort for change, especially on talk pages. I hope this helps respond to your question, at least a little. - tucoxn\talk 01:22, 3 April 2013 (UTC)

Re: newsletter

Hey Sundogs. You left a message on my talk page about 2 months ago about the WP:PW newsletter. I was inactive at the time, but in any case I haven't had anything to do with the newsletter in more than two years (around late 2010 IIRC) and it is my understanding that it is no lobger sent. Yes, my talk page was crowded – like I said, I was inactive and had better things to do than drop in just to make it more visually appealing for you. NiciVampireHeart 10:38, 2 June 2013 (UTC)
