SPhilbrick - This is the most complicated website I have EVER tried to use!! Please do what you suggested - moving the article to wherever it was you said, please leave me instructions on how to find it :) I wasn't sure about leaving an article about a t-shirt website on here either, but i came across one for Threadless, which is very similar to what SuperAwesomeYeah is, but SuperAwesomeYeah is donating all their profit to charity. SuperAwesomeYeah (talk) 17:57, 24 November 2010 (UTC)[reply]

Yes, it is complicated. I've been around for a couple years, and still find it confusing. Here's what will happen next:
  • You should consider whether you really want LauraMarieTaylor as a user name. If the answer is yes, we just have to sit tight while we wait for a bureaucrat to change your name.
  • There's a faster approach; you can simply register the new name (the reason for a name change is to make sure all your old edits are credited to your new name, but lets face it,there aren't that many.) Your choice.
  • If you do decide to register a new name, or wait until the rename occurs, I will move your draft to User:LauraMarieTaylor/SuperAwesomeYeah. I'll watch the new name creation page, but if I miss it, you can post here. (Even blocked users can usually post to their talk page).
  • If you decide you want a new name other than LauraMarieTaylor, let me know what it is at my talk page. I can see new accounts created, but there are several every minute, so I won't know which one is you. --SPhilbrickT 18:29, 24 November 2010 (UTC)[reply]

I have had my username changed now to LauraMarieTaylor, which I am happy with. So I would like to go ahead with amending and improving my article, and then having it checked. Can you please advise how and where to do this. Thanks! SuperAwesomeYeah (talk) 10:01, 25 November 2010 (UTC)[reply]

This user's request to be unblocked to request a change in username has been reviewed by an administrator, who declined the request. Other administrators may also review this block, but should not override the decision without a good reason (see the blocking policy). Do not remove this unblock review while you are blocked.

Request reason:

Was unaware I could not use my website name as a username

Decline reason:

you should be able to simply create a new account. This is quicker an easier than renaming an existing account and your block log doesn't follow you. HJ Mitchell | Penny for your thoughts? 20:22, 24 November 2010 (UTC)[reply]

Request reason:

I have put in a request to change my username to my own personal name, I didn't realise I couldn't sign up with the name of a website, please change my name and unblock me? SuperAwesomeYeah (talk) 17:33, 24 November 2010 (UTC)[reply]

Decline reason:

Procedural decline only, pending name change. To request unblock to change your name please use the {{unblock-un}} template. As you have been told, some us use our own names, but any made-up name which is not in use (and which is not offensive or promotional) will do.--Anthony Bradbury"talk" 17:47, 24 November 2010 (UTC)[reply]

If you want to make any further unblock requests, please read the guide to appealing blocks first, then use the {{unblock}} template again. If you make too many unconvincing or disruptive unblock requests, you may be prevented from editing this page until your block has expired. Do not remove this unblock review while you are blocked.

Hello, SuperAwesomeYeah, and welcome to Wikipedia! Thank you for your contributions.

I notice that one of the first articles you edited appears to be dealing with a topic with which you may have a conflict of interest. In other words, you may find it difficult to write about that topic in a neutral and objective way, because you are, work for, or represent, the subject of that article. Your recent contributions may have already been reverted for this very reason.

To reduce the chances of deletion, you might like to draft your article before submission, then ask me or any other editor to proofread it. To start creating a draft article, just click your user name at the top of the screen when you are logged in, and edit that page as you would any other. If the page you created has already been deleted from Wikipedia, but you want to save the content from it to use for that draft, don't hesitate to ask anyone from this list and they will copy it to your user page.

The one firm rule we do have in connection with conflicts of interest is that accounts used by more than one person will unfortunately be blocked from editing. It is also worth noting that Wikipedia generally does not allow editors to have usernames which specifically link them to one company or corporation. If your username does have such a name, it would be advisable for you to request a change of username.

If you are stuck, and looking for help, please come to the New contributors' help page, where experienced Wikipedians can answer any queries you have! You can also just type {{helpme}} on your user page, and someone will show up shortly to answer your questions. Here are a few other good links for newcomers:

I hope you enjoy editing here and being a Wikipedian! Please sign your name on talk pages using four tildes (~~~~); this will automatically produce your name and the date. If you have any questions, check out Wikipedia:Where to ask a question or ask me on my talk page. Again, welcome! Invitrovanitas (talk) 16:07, 24 November 2010 (UTC)[reply]

Welcome to Wikipedia. Because we have a policy against usernames that give the impression that the account represents a group, organization or website, your account has been blocked; you are welcome to create a new account with a username that represents only you. You should also read our conflict of interest guideline. If your username doesn't represent a group, organization or website, you may appeal this username block by adding the text {{unblock|reason=Your reason here ~~~~}} below this notice. Thank you. Name change

[edit]

I see that you have a request to change your name. If the requested new name is your real name, please make sure to read WP:REALNAME. I'm using my real name, and many other do as well, but some have regretted it, so it should be considered carefully. Personally, I would advise against it, but it is your call. --SPhilbrickT 17:37, 24 November 2010 (UTC)[reply]

Your unblock request, and some other items

[edit]

I notice you unblock request in a section above. Wikipedia can be a complicated place, with a lot of rules. Most of them make sense, but they aren't always obvious.

The block is a block of the user name, not of you personally. When you get a new name, which should be fairly straightforward, that user name will not be blocked.

Please note my post above, where I urge you to reconsider which new name you would like to have.

Once you have a new name, you will be able to edit almost anywhere, and presumably, want to continue working on the draft you started. I must warn you, I don't know that an article about a t-shirt company will satisfy Notability, so please read that before investing too much time.

If you do want to continue working on the draft, you could edit it where it is now, but it would be better if it were moved to a user subpage of your new user name. You won't be able to do that, but I can do it for you. I'll try to monitor this page, or you can just leave a note at my talk page.

Once you think your draft is ready, post a request at Requests for feedback. That page is understaffed, so I don't want to promise too much, but if I see it, I'll review it.--SPhilbrickT 17:49, 24 November 2010 (UTC)[reply]

Logging in

[edit]

I see that a bureaucrat completed the renaming, sorry it took so long. However, it looks to me like you are editing under your previous name. Is it possible you were logged in and never logged out? If so, please log out, and log back in as LauraMarieTaylor. Thanks.--SPhilbrickT 15:15, 25 November 2010 (UTC)[reply]

Thanks for checking that out, I have just logged out and back in again and I am now editing under the correct name. Just need to get my article looked at to see what I need to do to improve it. I see that Threadless have an article about them, which is essentially what SuperAwesomeYeah is, apart from SuperAwesomeYeah design their own t-shirts and give all of their profit to charity. So I am hoping that as Threadless have managed to get an article about them on here, that I can get one about SuperAwesomeYeah on too! Thanks again, LauraMarieTaylor (talk) 16:25, 25 November 2010 (UTC)[reply]

Next steps

[edit]

Glad to see that you are now logged in correctly. Be careful about leaning too hard on the argument that Threadless has an article, it is quite common to point to the Other stuff exists essay. That said, I'm encouraged buy the existence of the Threadless article. That article was nominated for deletion, the decision was keep. The Deletion discussion was swayed, not by an argument that a t-shirt store was inherently notable, but by coverage in reliable sources. I'm happy to see that you do have an independent reference. If there are more, it will help considerably.--SPhilbrickT 16:53, 25 November 2010 (UTC)[reply]

Thanks SPhilbrick! Yes it is encouraging to see that they have an article on here of course, I do understand what you mean though I guess each case if judged from a new fresh perspective so it doesnt necessarily mean the article I am trying to post will be successful! I have made as many updates as I think I can to it and I need to have someone look over it and let me know if I am doing anything wrong so I can improve it. I am also working on trying to get another independant reference added, but it is yet to go live on the external site in question. Thanks again. I don't know how to move my article from draft to real? LauraMarieTaylor (talk) 14:34, 26 November 2010 (UTC)[reply]

Hi there :) Please see WP:MOVE. To move pages you must be autoconfirmed. Before you move that page you should probably ask an editor to review it for you. If you need any more help please put another {{helpme}} tag on here. See you around! --Addihockey10e-mail 14:52, 26 November 2010 (UTC)[reply]

Review

[edit]

How do I get an editor to review my page? I think I might have done it, but just wanted to check I have done it correctly LauraMarieTaylor (talk) 16:27, 26 November 2010 (UTC)[reply]

It doesn't look as if you have... What did you do that makes you think you've requested a review? I see nothing in my quick review of your contributions. By the way, I'll give the article a quick look-over. GorillaWarfare talk 17:38, 26 November 2010 (UTC)[reply]
