Re:Waste of Space

[edit]

I acknowledge that you are correct about my use of the term Waste of Space. It may be misleading as I mean it in a metaphorical sense. Some articles are a waste of space as they often waste the time of wikipedians looking for the proper information and instead find articles that are a metaphorical waste of space. I want to emphasize that verifiability is only one of many criteria for a page's worth. Please forgive my constant misspelling of the word encyclopedic as encyclopediac. It's always good to hear from a fellow DC Comics fan! Green hornet 04:48, 9 October 2006 (UTC)[reply]

Regarding your post to my talk page: You're right; it is only a proposal. The problem, IMO, is that it's already been used, and thus I saw it as a fairness issue. (I also find some of the Wikilawyering surrounding this article to be a bit suspect, but that's just my opinion.) In any case, User:SandyGeorgia created the Connecticut 4th congressional district election, 2006 article, which was the only real violation of C&E that I had a big problem with, and the whole Diane Farrell mess has led to that particular section of WP:C&E to end up back in review anyway (though only in the last ~18 hours), so I've changed my vote to "abstain" on the current AfD. It seems apparent that the AfD will end up closed as "keep", so the issue is settled as far as I'm concerned. --Aaron 19:55, 9 October 2006 (UTC)[reply]

Ditto. I could have saved us both comments if I had made myself clearer from the start. Erechtheus 20:11, 9 October 2006 (UTC)[reply]

Because of your input on previous music AfDs, I was hoping you would take a look at this article and provide your thoughts on whether or not it meets WP:MUSIC its latest AfD. PT (s-s-s-s) 00:25, 10 October 2006 (UTC)[reply]

Okay, sure, but I think I'm missing the reasoning, and no offense, thats not policy you directed me to, its a discussion. People shouldn't be writing about themselves, or about their friends/ spouses/ business partners/ fellow garage band members etc. What is the prefered 'PC' word to use now that vanity has been 'forbidden'? DesertSky85451 20:12, 17 October 2006 (UTC)[reply]

The COI seems like a good policy, thanks. I will reference that in the future when nominating for deletion. In regard to Jimbo's letter however, Jimbo can bite me. This encyclopedia has serious problems and until those on top fix them, I don't care if their lives are 'tough'. DesertSky85451 21:04, 17 October 2006 (UTC)[reply]

For the advice, and the talk page cleanup. I suppose it must irk some people to be called vain, although I tend to prefer just saying it like it is. Still, a bit of circumlocution for the sake of piece won't go amiss.  ;) The Crying Orc 06:13, 27 October 2006 (UTC)[reply]

South Dakota project

[edit]

I saw your comment on Seth's list and think that there may be enough people around to create such a project. I might join it myself a bit later; I'm kind of tied up right now with a few other projects so I wouldn't be available for anything immediately. You might consider adding it as a proposal to Wikipedia:WikiProject/List of proposed projects, and seeing if you get enough response to start one. Generally, five to ten members is considered sufficient. If you've never started a project before, the Wikipedia:WikiProject Council/Guide supplies a few good pointers. In any event, good luck. Badbilltucker 17:11, 27 October 2006 (UTC)[reply]

I noticed you've started to place a project banner on some of the pages. This is fine, except for the fact that the project is still technically only a proposed project, not a full project. I think we should move the project page out from user space into wikipedia space, like all the other projects are. Also, I would like to ask you whether you think the project should be engaged in article assessment. I would think yes, because assessing articles is generally the easiest way to know which articles are most important and which articles are in the best shape. If you wish, I could change the banner to include both quality and importance assessment info, like Template:WikiProject Virginia already has. Also, if we do move the project into wiki-space, I think it would be a good idea to list it as being a new project on the Wikipedia:Community Portal. Anyway, I hope to hear from you soon. Badbilltucker 13:50, 3 November 2006 (UTC)[reply]
I've gone ahead myself and moved the project to Wikipedia:WikiProject South Dakota, and created the requirements for assessment. I'm also going to add it to the Wikipedia:WikiProject Council/Directory, and to the list of new projects on the Wikipedia:Community Portal. The location at Wikipedia:WikiProject/List of proposed projects will reflect the move as well. Badbilltucker 15:46, 3 November 2006 (UTC)[reply]

Expanding Ugly Betty and other TV show articles

[edit]

If you haven't noticed by now, The Ugly Betty article (and many others as well, like Heroes and 30 Rock) have expanded into various related articles, therefore there is no need to cram everything into Ugly Betty, as you have proudly pointed out on your introduction page. Plus some of the other wikipedians besides me are already adding stuff as well as sending me messages that the article was getting too large because of this merge/redirect, which is the reason I had to split up the articles to avoid it from becoming too large. However, I do agree with you that we should wait before a show becomes popular to add additional articles on the characters. Robert Moore 23:19 6 January 2007 (UTC)

Greetings! In January, you participated in the discussion for the 2nd deletion nomination of Ultimate X-Men (story arcs). After two months of rewriting, reorganizing, and referencing, the article is now undergoing a WikiProject Comics peer review. Sorry for the late welcome!

[edit]

Hi, Superlex, welcome to the Article Rescue Squadron! We are a growing community of Wikipedia editors dedicated to identifying and rescuing articles that have been tagged for deletion. Every day hundreds of articles are deleted, many rightfully so. But many concern notable subjects and are poorly written, ergo fixable and should not be deleted. We try to help these articles quickly improve and address the concerns of why they are proposed for deletion. This covers a lot of ground and your help is appreciated!

If you have any questions, feel free to ask on the talk page, and we will be happy to help you.

And once again - Welcome! Ikip (talk) 10:51, 24 August 2009 (UTC)[reply]
