Virginia Cavaliers national title count
[edit]Greetings! I see you've edited the Virginia Cavaliers article to include their 1952 and 1970 men's lacrosse titles. However, these were not official NCAA titles, so by convention, they are excluded from the tally in the infobox. I've opened discussion on the article's talk page if you'd like to discuss it further. —C.Fred (talk) 02:27, 18 January 2008 (UTC)
06-07 ACC Basketball Champions
[edit]Hi there, Superwhitekid. Thanks for your contributions. I just want to let you know that I reverted your edit to the Atlantic Coast Conference article. While Virginia did tie UNC in the final regular season standings, the ACC determines their basketball champion via the conference tournament which was won outright by UNC. Hence, the '& Virginia' should not be in this article, which lists only the conference's official champions in each sport. FYI, this edit (and the corresponding revert) has been made several times since last season. Best wishes. -Gwguffey (talk) 02:03, 20 January 2008 (UTC)
- Howdy. Please see the following page from the ACC website: 2006-07 ACC Championships Sites and Dates. You will see that UVa is not listed. There was no co-championship based on the regular season, only a single champion determined via the tournament. 'Regular Season Champion' is an unofficial term used by fans and media (and in some cases the schools themselves), but not by the conference. Thank you for contributing and best wishes in your future editing. -Gwguffey (talk) 16:23, 20 January 2008 (UTC)
- Please also see this page at the ACC's website: ACC Tournament Notes. As noted there, the ACC bylaws state that the basketball season "end[s] with the conference basketball tournament, and the winner shall be the conference champion." As a result, there are no grounds to list Virginia as a co-champion, since the tournament did not end in a tie.
- Since there is a reliable source that only the tournament champion is the conference champion, please do not re-add Virginia as a co-champion (barring the discovery of some source that could override the bylaws). —C.Fred (talk) 19:31, 20 January 2008 (UTC)
Hidey ho! I see you've put in Riko Smalls as the new 2008 QB. Since I cant find any documentation of that, I reverted the changes, however if you can find a source for it, you can go ahead and throw that back in there. Thanks! Boydannie (talk) 12:47, 4 February 2008 (UTC)
- You really need a link to a citation before you make a change like that. Please sign your posts as well. Boydannie (talk) 22:06, 4 February 2008 (UTC)
- Also, you keep changing the STARTING quarterback box. I highly doubt that a 17 year old will be starting quarterback for the Cavaliers. Boydannie (talk) 22:09, 4 February 2008 (UTC)
- I'm not contesting that you are right or wrong, I am saying that we need a citation! Please calm down. Nothing can be put on the page unless it is cited. Boydannie (talk) 22:40, 4 February 2008 (UTC)

Lane Stadium
[edit]Hi, Superwhitekid. Your edits indicate that you have an issue with the final sentence of the first paragraph of this article. Your edit of 30 January was appropriate given the lack of citation at that time and spurred its addition. So, thank you for helping improve the article. Your two edits since then have been to remove that citation. Given that, I would encourage you to bring your concerns to the article's talk page at Talk:Lane Stadium so that a dialog can occur to address the issue that you have on this topic. -Gwguffey (talk) 03:57, 8 February 2008 (UTC) Please do not delete content from pages on Wikipedia, as you did to Lane Stadium, without explaining the reason for the removal in the edit summary. Unexplained removal of content does not appear constructive, and your edit has been reverted. If you would like to experiment, please use the sandbox for test edits. Thank you. Hi, You keep adding information on Riko Smalls, even after I keep reminding you that things need to be cited. There is nothing online or in print that says that Riko Smalls is going to be the new STARTING quarterback. It is true that he will be A QB, but not the STARTING QB, and thats what you keep changing. Please, next time edit the discussion page on the issue and not the actual article. Boydannie (talk) 18:29, 9 February 2008 (UTC)
If you are refering to this http://www.roanoke.com/sports/breaking/wb/149121 article in the Roanoke Times, if you read it, it does not say that Riko Smalls is the starting quarterback. It only says that UVA signed him. Please do not change the information on the page again until you get an official press briefing from the Cavaliers, NBC29 (who could get that information before anyone else) or coach Grohl. - 1 time only doesn't count. He's never been announced from there since. TJ Spyke 02:03, 15 February 2008 (UTC)
- I strongly disagree. If you want to put it back in, you also need a reliable source. The YouTube video doesn't count since WP:YOUTUBE and WP:COPYRIGHT specifically say they aren't allowed, YouTube is illegally hosting that copyrighted video. TJ Spyke 02:07, 15 February 2008 (UTC)
- I will make this clear and simple: YouTube is not allowed as a source for copyrighted video if they don't have permission. Sometimes they do have permission (TNA posts "TNA Today" on YouTube), WWE does not. That means you are NOT allowed to link to any WWE videos on YouTube, which means you can not use it as a source. Without a RELIABLE and LEGAL source, it will be deleted. End of story. TJ Spyke 02:14, 15 February 2008 (UTC)
