Category:Wikipedia articles needing cleanup after translation

Something's wrong

Hi Svick, it seems like there is a problem either with the toolserver or your code, it's only done 6 projects this week, and only 1 per day for the last few days - history list. Have we finally pushed the toolserver too far? The-Pope (talk) 13:10, 28 March 2013 (UTC)

There is currently problem with Toolserver, there is only one SQL server for English Wikipedia instead of the usual two. This means the single server is under heavy load and so updating lists is often interrupted early. Though it seems the listings are updating fine for the past day or two (which I don't understand, because the underlying problem still hasn't been solved). WikiProject Tennis

Thanks for this very useful tool which I use regularly to clean up WP:Tennis articles. I was wondering why there is such a discrepancy between the number of tennis articles as mentioned by the clean up tool (17,935 per 11 June) and the number as indicated by the assessment tool (21,879 per 17 June). That's because the assessment tool lists all pages of the WikiProject, not just articles. If you ask the assessment tool just for articles, it reports 17 984, which is consistent with the most recent number from the cleanup listing (17 980). This number makes sense, since there are about 3 000 categories and 1 000 templates in the project. User<Svick>.Talk(); 12:54, 19 June 2013 (UTC)

Labs migration?

Hi there, I keep getting "Could not connect: User 'svick' has exceeded the 'max_user_connections' resource (current value: 15)" error messages. Is this tool likely to be migrated to Labs and is that the only way that the error will be overcome? The-Pope (talk) 14:49, 5 November 2013 (UTC)

Two suggestions

I'd suggest:

1. Adding articles in the Category:Pages containing cite templates with deprecated parameters to the listing
2. Removing articles in the Category:All articles containing potentially dated statements from the listing

The second suggestion may seem odd, but the category in question is not really a cleanup category, since in almost all cases it is impossible to "fix" an article so that it no longer contains dated statements (in contrast to e.g. Category:All Wikipedia articles in need of updating, which can actually be fixed). The best one can do is to change an instance of e.g. {{as of|2013}} to {{as of|2014}} by supplying most recent data, but this doesn't really do anything, as the very existence of the {{as of}} template keeps the article in the same quasi-cleanup category. I believe that, in order to qualify as "cleanup", all instances should be fixable, i.e. it should be at least theoretically possible to drive the cleanup listing to zero items. Regarding #1, pretty much everything under Category:Articles with incorrect citation syntax would theoretically qualify as cleanup. It is a huge number of articles, so I'm not sure about all these. GregorB (talk) 12:44, 23 March 2014 (UTC)
