Shakti

[edit]

Thank you for your comments. Sorry if I was a little late in editing, I made some changes to the article too. Do you feel that they are acceptable? I would love to work with you on this article since it is in need. I plan to work on the Mythology section but I do not have a books nor can find appropriate info for the section. Do you have any ideas for the section. Also I pasted an image of Lakshmi on the page, is this appropriate for the article. Once again I am not 100% knowledgeable on this particular subject but I would love to help. Om namo Narayanaya!--Seadog 02:50, 17 November 2006 (UTC)[reply]

I was out of station and it is 1.21am now. I will see it tomorrow and certainly contribute to the best of my ability. swadhyayee 19:52, 17 November 2006 (UTC)[reply]

Good Morning to you swadhyayee, I noticed you did a fix on the Hinduism article. Good Job!__Seadog 01:20, 18 November 2006 (UTC)[reply]

Good evening to you Arjun. I just logged on, haven't read Shakti as yet. swadhyayee 01:22, 18 November 2006 (UTC)[reply]

Hello, Arjun! I was just looking at the Shakti page, and I would think that the best translation of Shakti would be Energy, the electric sparks within our brains that urge us to fulfill Saraswati's tasks--I personally feel that Saraswati is the Patron Goddess of Wikipedia:). Also, could you please go to the ishta-devata page and give a balanced hindu description of what the Ishta-Devata means in a Hindu's daily life. The article was very Jainist the last time I looked at it, so perhaps you could provide proper meanings? Om Shanti, --Snowgrouse 00:05, 6 February 2007 (UTC)[reply]

Archival

[edit]

I just finished archiveing your page...Here is how to do it yourself. 1.Highlight all the text you want to stash away in an archive. 2. right-click your text and then scroll down and click cut. 3. Create an article called [[User talk:Swadhyayee/Archive(your number goes here)]] 4. Save the page, when you save click the red link. 5. Edit the page and paste all the old disscussions on there. 5. Save that page and you are done.

I hope this helps...If you still need help then feel free to contact me (however it will be hard to contact me at the right time since the time differences) or if you want me to do it for you I will. Cheers.__Seadog 05:20, 18 November 2006 (UTC)[reply]
The archive for you...if you havent noticed has been set. There is a blue link at the top of the article that says Archive 1 click it and it will take you to your old disscussions. Have a nice day, but for me I am logging of for the night. OM.___Seadog 05:31, 18 November 2006 (UTC)[reply]
[edit]

I had previously removed the link. You have added it again. Please do not add the link to the discussion board. The discussion board is for discussions regarding improving India-related topics, not a forum to discuss India-Pakistan relationship. Thanks for your cooperation. 3RR violation

[edit]

Swadhyayee, you have violated the WP:3RR along with WP:TALK#Basic_rules_for_all_talk_pages rule on the Hinduism page. Kindly desist from repeating such behavior. Thanks. Abecedare 02:58, 26 November 2006 (UTC)[reply]

Mis-wording

[edit]
Regarding your complaint on WP:ANI. I suggest you not use language like "mischevious non-Hindu editors" as it makes you sound like an exclusivist. Wikipedia can be edited by anybody, Hindu or not. However, if you feel that some anons have been editing tendentiously then you should cite diffs of the edits and explain why they are bad. You should go back to the page and elaborate your claims. Please avoid such controversial language and people will listen to you. Thanks. Hkelkar

I am done archiving the talk page...From now on unless I forget I will archive every 35 topics or maybe sooner since the disscussions get rather long. If you need me to do anything else please call.__Seadog 03:54, 28 November 2006 (UTC)[reply]

Did I archive too much perhaps? Because if I did I will be able to put the discussions that you feel are nececary back into the correct postition, I just need to know.__Seadog 04:01, 28 November 2006 (UTC)[reply]
I think I have a little idea...The english wikipedia today was screwing around with me today (couldn't load certain pages) and was rather slow. It is probably just a little technical problem...I doubt it is nothing to worry about.__Seadog 04:02, 28 November 2006 (UTC)[reply]

Advocating closed

[edit]

Hi Swadhyayee . We haven't spoken in a long time. It appears to me that you are managing your Wikipedia experience? I have closed the advocacy case. It would be beneficial for the AMA if you went to Wikipedia:AMA Requests for Assistance/Requests/November 2006/Swadhyayee and filled in the followup.

Sanskrit Mantra

[edit]

Namaskarji. There were a few consonants which I wasn't sure which to choose (dh or dhh, etc.), but I read it the same way that I read the English. My Hindi is very poor in writing, especially in English. I think I wrote "kasa hau", because I meant to say "aap kase hau", but just blended it with "ye kase hain" and the result was that gibberish! ॐ नमःशिवाय Śaiva Sujīt सुजीत ॐ 21:19, 29 November 2006 (UTC)[reply]

"Minor" Edits

[edit]

Swadhyayee, I noticed that all your edits are marked "minor". My guess is that this is not by your design, but rather because of the default settings you are using. If that is the case, you can change the default behaviour as follows: Click on "my preferences" (top right corner of the page) -> Editing -> Uncheck 'Mark all edits minor by default'.

I hope this information is helpful! Abecedare 02:52, 1 December 2006 (UTC)[reply]

Hi Swadhyayee,

Perhaps my earlier explanation was not clear. What I am referring to is as follows: If you take a look at your contribution list, you'll notice that all your edits have a m marking following the '(diff)' column. That indicates that you consider those edits to be minor or superficial, for instance correction of typographical errors, spelling mistakes etc. On the other hand, you'll see here, that other users mark only edits where no new content was added with an m. You can read more about what edits are considered minor at Minor_edits.

I assume that it is not your intention to mark all your edits minor (which can be considered misleading), and therefore left the message above. Your edit summaries (I assume that is what you are referring to by 'naming my edit summaries') do look fine to me.

Again, this message is meant to be helpful, and not as a complaint. Abecedare 04:25, 1 December 2006 (UTC)[reply]

Yes, Swadhyayee, it is not supposed to say m for all the edits. But it is not due to any technical fault, but rather because of your default settings. Here again are the instructions for you to correct your settings:
Click on "my preferences" (top right corner of the page, next to "my watchlist") -> Click on "Editing" -> Uncheck "Mark all edits minor by default", i.e., the box next to this entry should not have a tick-mark.
Let me know if that does not work. Abecedare 05:48, 1 December 2006 (UTC)[reply]

That is weird !

I tried turning on the "Prompt me when entering a blank edit summary", and test editing without entering a summary, and works properly for me (i.e., it does not enter an m irrespective of whether I provide an edit summary or not). So my only guess is that perhaps there is problem with the java software on your computer. Barring that, your only option may be to manually uncheck "This is a minor edit" each time you edit.

As you say, this is a only a minor issue; the misbehaviour of your watchlist must be a bigger pain. So it may be worthwhile for you to try to update your java software (although I'm not ceratin if that will help. Anyway, the link for that is [1]. Abecedare 06:18, 1 December 2006 (UTC)[reply]

Why have you removed Awards & Recognitions from

[edit]

Why have you removed Awards & Recognitions from Pandurang Shastri athavale's page?Although they were the authentic data!!

Weird

[edit]

Have you noticed that all your edits are marked as minor? You can tell when viewing the watchlist when you see the little m on the side. Are you purposely doing so or is it a computer glitch.__Seadog 03:52, 3 December 2006 (UTC)[reply]

A reminder that you were warned not to do this on 20:23, 15 November 2006 (UTC)
Please remember to mark your edits as minor when (and only when) they genuinely are minor edits (see Wikipedia:Minor edit). Marking a major change as a minor one (and vice versa) is considered poor etiquette. The rule of thumb is that only an edit that consists solely of spelling corrections, formatting, and minor rearranging of text should be flagged as a 'minor edit'. Thanks! --ArmadilloFromHellGateBridge 04:10, 3 December 2006 (UTC)[reply]

My edits are with summary. I am not marking "m", if it's for tech. fault, I can't help. I don't think there is any need to be fussy when edit summary is there. swadhyayee 12:36, 3 December 2006 (UTC)[reply]

You will have "Mark all edits as minor" turned on in your preferences. It's probably a good idea to turn it off. --Deskana talk 14:25, 3 December 2006 (UTC)[reply]

Hindu

[edit]

Hi Swadhyayeee, Hi, Balaji, I was wondering whether you or other editors can replace the image (i.e., Khajuraho at http://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Hindu#Religion_for_the_common_Hindu with a non-sexual image? It gives the wrong impression about the article, religion for the common Hindu.

Thanks, Raj2004 14:43, 3 December 2006 (UTC) No problem, swadhyayee.[reply]

Raj2004 16:46, 3 December 2006 (UTC)[reply]

Hi Swadhyayee

[edit]

I apologize for the rude statement I made in my edit summary. Please understand that it was directed at myself, in a moment of frustration. Looking back, even my attempt to take back what I had posted before is also very wrong.

I tried to create the impression that there was some kind of conspiracy, when in fact the users and admins here are just people doing the best they can to build an encyclopedia that's simply never been done before. Everyone makes mistakes - what's important is that we learn from them and try again.

It wasn't right of me to try to make my own conclusions. In fact, it was very bad faith on my part. Please read carefully what I posted, and NEVER even come close to doing the same thing yourself - to anyone or anything here.

I need to make apologies to all the editors and admins that I tried to implicate. I'm afraid I don't know as much as I claimed, I only had the feeling that something was wrong. I made a terrible mistake in a moment of weakness, and I'm more sorry than you can imagine.

I'm very sorry to admit that I don't know much about Hinduism, or India. In trying to learn, I'm afraid I've read many wrong things. If I caused you any pain or offense, again, I'm more sorry than you can imagine. Please accept my humble apology.

If there is anything I can do to help you with your editing here on Wikipedia, please don't hesitate to let me know. In turn, if there is anything you would like to inform me about your faith or anything else, I will be happy to hear it and understand more.

It is my dearest hope that one day soon you and I can work together. In fact, my very dearest hope is that the admins and users I've tried to tarnish can eventually come to forgive and we can work together as well.

Sincerely, NinaEliza 17:34, 5 December 2006 (UTC)[reply]

I noticed your post to the arbitration case. The case is now closed and the arbitration committee has banned Terry, Hkelkar and Bhaisaab for 1 year. - Aksi_great (talk) 10:34, 11 December 2006 (UTC)[reply]

You understood it right. Anyone can propose any remedy on the workshop page. But arbitrators are not bound bu those proposals. Arbitrators have a separate page where they work. This page can be seen here. The proposed decision page can only be edited by arbitrators. All the voting is now over and the case is closed. The move to ban Bakaman has been rejected by the arbitrators. - Aksi_great (talk) 10:49, 11 December 2006 (UTC)[reply]

Your questions/comments

[edit]

Namaste Swadhyayee, Sorry I couldn't reply to all your questions I was offline when most of your questions were asked. The reason why it says This advocate is busy is because 1. I am now a member of the AMA which I noticed you filed a case there and I hope everything is okay 2. I am rather busy this week but by the end of the week it will most likely say available. Also I am enlightened to hear that you like my new page, I have had it for about half a week and it has been received warmly by you and others. I changed it because it is a more simple layout and easy for others to read and has some beautiful pictures. I did in fact link the please call me by my name to Arjun, I made the link as you have suggested stand out. Do you like the color Orange red for the link or do you think that there is a better color that could be used? The "I'm bold as love: Just ask the Axis" quote does in fact overlap on some browsers, I am going to change to a smaller quote (3 to 5 words) once I have some better ideas, do you have any idea? I fixed the archiving correctly and thank you for bringing it to my attention. Also as for HeBhagawan...I have no clue where he is! He has not been online since December 1st, maybe he is taking a wiki-break...hopefully he has not completely left. Also you can now know for sure if I am online or not by viewing my status changer, If it says out then I am online and if it says in than I am online and able to answer any questions or comments. It can also be seen on the right hand side of my user and talk pages. Oh and yes I will always reply on your page since you have grown accustomed to it and it is more convenient for you. Thanks. swadhyayee 00:35, 22 December 2006 (UTC)[reply]

Please excuse me for jutting in and archiving (I am a relatively new user). I did not know about the rules of the talk page. I mainly archived it since the talk page was getting to be long (pages are usually archived when 30 kilobytes, and Talk:Hinduism is 86). If this was done in error, thanks for reverting it and catching my mistake (by the way, I am from West Bengal)! s d 3 1 4 1 5 Happy Holidays! 00:40, 22 December 2006 (UTC)[reply]

[edit]

Hello Swadhyayee - the comments by 'C9' were originally made in another discussion page, see here: [2]. I believe there was a large cultural survey conducted in India in the mid 80's, but I very much doubt that 90% of Hindu's would eat meat such as beef. Language, scripts and fonts

[edit]

Swadhyayee, I read your comments on Naming conventions, and I think there may be some confusion on the topic of discussion and the terminology used. So let me try to offer some background information and definitions:

  • Sanskrit is a language, and not a script or a font. Similarly English is a language and not a script/font and there are (technically) no English characters.
  • Devanagiri, which is a script which is commonly used to write Sanskrit, Hindi, Marathi etc. However you may be interested to know that writing Sanskrit in Devanagiri exclusively, is a relatively recent development formalized under 19th century European influence! (See this discussion). English on the other hand largely uses the Roman script.
  • A font refers to typeface i.e., the particular design of the alphabets used to write a certain script. For example see this Image for a few ways of writing the same Roman script.
  • Italics is usually referred to as a font type; (another font type is bold.) and usually each font will have characters defined for each of these font types.

Now, with that terminology in mind, the discussion on HNB is not related to what script, font or font type to use for Indian terms, but rather what transliteration systems is appropriate and when. You may want to read up on the issue at IAST, ITRANS, IPA, and the proposed conventions for Dharmic and Indic terms, where different technical terms like "simplified transliteration", "formal transliteration" etc are defined. For instance, you'll note that simplified transliteration does not always define the pronunciation , unlike IAST, IPA etc.
I hope the above discussion is useful to you. It is written not with the view of correcting you, but hopefully as an aid for you to offer your comments on the topic more cogently. Thanks. Abecedare 03:04, 23 December 2006 (UTC)[reply]

Forgive me for contacting you, but I respect you highly and know you will tell me more than a Wikipedia article. Is there a holiday, holidays, or holiday season that Hindu folks celebrate? Thank you so much Swadhyayee, I'll go fly a kite!.
It's interesting to note that the Russian Orthodox Christmas is celebrated according to lunar calendar, which falls right around this time. Traditionally, it is a very strict church service (everyone stands for hours, men and women are seperated, etc.) followed by a grand (often vegan) dinner. One of my goals in life is to speak Japanes, German, Russian, Filipine, and any language that I can learn. i'm interested in the cultures and languages of the many races. Even Hindu! I'd like to learn it...! --Tohru Honda13Sign here! 05:08, 26 December 2006 (UTC)[reply]

Veg?

[edit]

Namaste Swadhyayee. Ah yes, I agree these are my reasons too of becoming a vegetarian (I have been one year without now). But I was just replying to Kyo that it should be her decision on whether or not to become one...not just to do it for my sake. It should be done with a happy heart for the adequate reasons. Cheers. — Arjun 05:01, 26 December 2006 (UTC)[reply]

Thanks, I am very careful about what I eat, I have become a strict in checking the food out first. Cheers and hopefully business is doing very well for you. Cheers! — Arjun 05:11, 26 December 2006 (UTC)[reply]

Thanks

[edit]

Hi Swadhyayee. Sorry for not replying earlier. Actually there was no need at all on your part to take the trouble for asking admins about my signature, but thanks for doing that and posting his views on my talk page. I have now changed my signature in my preferences. User:IAF

Smilies

[edit]

Hey, I've added the smilie footer like you asked. The code is at the top. Note: The smilies are programmed to stay at the bottom of the page. If you're going to archive this page, and you want to keep the smilies, do not copy the smilie footer. Just copy (or cut, whatever) the discussions and leave the smily footer at the top of the page. Oh, and don't worry if the smilies overlap with a picture or a discussion. It's normal, and it won't stay like that forever. Buh-bye! --Tohru Honda13Sign here! 21:11, 26 December 2006 (UTC)[reply]

"appearance" and "manifestation" are quite different.

[edit]

I believe Gauranga will agree to the explanation i have provided while reversing his edit In case it doesnot happen so, i will put it for discussion. The basic issue is that "appearance" and "manifestation" are quite different. Manifestation is a change itself, whereas appearance is a percieved change but actually there is no change.Philosopher4 16:22, 27 December 2006 (UTC)[reply]

I put it only for your info :). have added on the discussion page

Gujarati wikipedia

[edit]

Hi Swadhyayee. Although I have registered on the Gujarati wikipedia, I haven't really been active on it. If some characters are missing, it's really strange and must be fixed. Meanwhile, you can use this to write those characters. I hope this helps. Regards, deeptrivia (talk) 17:16, 27 December 2006 (UTC)[reply]

Indenting on talk pages

[edit]

Hi Swadhyayee, how are you? I noticed that you sometimes add comments in between a discussion like this which is fine. The only problem is that it makes the discussion confusing and messy because we always have to check the time the comment was written. It would be easier to see the added on comment if you indented it. If you add : at the start of your comment, a small indent is made. If you add :: a bigger indent is made and so on. Make sure your indent, if added in the middle, is bigger than the one just below it. Thank you. GizzaChat © 10:25, 29 December 2006 (UTC)[reply]

Hi! It's been like a week and still the mod(admin or whatever he is) who banned me named "Can't Sleep, Clowns will eat me" hasn't told me why he banned me recently. He said I'm no longer banned, but he never told me why he did it in the first place! Here's the thread ty:

WP:AIV revert

[edit]

Hi, could you please explain why you reverted me on WP:AIV? Especially with the edit summary: "Undo revision 97349130 by Metros232 (talk)Not supposed to remove messages even from your talk page." Thanks, Metros232 15:55, 30 December 2006 (UTC)[reply]

Tango

[edit]

Just so you know, Tango is an administrator. Prodego talk 16:31, 30 December 2006 (UTC)[reply]

Most admins chose to add the admin userbox to their userpage, but some admins don't. Also, on occasions someone impersonates an admin by adding it to their page. The only way to know for sure what user's rights are is to check at Special:Listusers. Prodego talk 16:36, 30 December 2006 (UTC)[reply]
I think that is Tango's decision, I would not want to add something to his/her userpage that is not wanted. You should ask Tango. Prodego talk 16:53, 30 December 2006 (UTC)[reply]

Your edit summary here

[edit]

Hi again. You suggested that the anon IP removing valuable information from the Hinduism article might have been me. I found that slightly rude since I would never do such a thing and you have no evidence whatsoever to back up your assertions. Why would I removed a paragraph on Moksh and Nirvana with an anon IP? Just to let you know, the IP address I use most frequently is User:220.233.64.218. Some advice -- don't question whether any Wikipedia user is misbehaving as an anon IP unless they act very similarly.Otherwise, other people will also become angry at your false accusations. Namaste Swadhyayee, there is a very large discussion going on at Talk Wikiproject Hinduism concerning the Swastika in the Hinduism templates. Your feedback would be greatly appreciated. Cheers! — Arjun 04:28, 5 January 2007 (UTC)[reply]

Don't worry it seems to be coming to a close...hopfully. Yes it is rather long, I started at the begining and finished at the end. I like how your userpage is looking. I like the new userbox. — Arjun 03:31, 6 January 2007 (UTC)[reply]

I was concerned

[edit]

Namaste Swadhyayee, I am very happy that you made a recent edit, I was becoming "very" concerned that the same that happened to HeBhagawan was happening to you. Your opinions have been missed on the Hinduism talk page, along with the Hinduism notice board. In your time gone...I have read the Ramayana. Hopefully business is going well for you. ~ Arjun 03:21, 30 January 2007 (UTC)[reply]

Good I am glad to hear, yes you are correct the history of the Hinduism page has been going fast, I myself have been away from the page for a while. Only commenting when I can...and when I have the time to. Sadly HeBhagawan is still gone, no edits since the first of December, what is your feelings on his absence? Cheers my friend. ~ Arjun 03:50, 31 January 2007 (UTC)[reply]

Thank you Swadhyayee

[edit]

Namaste Swadhyayee, thank you for taking time to copy/paste the message for me on my talk page, I would have never seen it. Thank you very much. Cheers! ~ Arjun 14:49, 6 February 2007 (UTC)[reply]

Okay, do you want me to archive your talk page? ~ Arjun 15:07, 6 February 2007 (UTC)[reply]

Hello again

[edit]

Namaste Swadhyayee, I am glad to hear from you. No problem about the re-addition of the removed text; I have had the page on my watchlist. I have come to notice that the vandalism that happens to the article is fixed very slowly. So I am glad I could help out. Also I forgot to tell you that about a month ago I became an administrator; just in case you are interested. I am also well in real life; better than I have ever been. Cheers, and hopefully business is going well. ~ Arjun 04:04, 4 March 2007 (UTC)[reply]

Ha; yes I wouldn't need to block you, you are such a good contributor/friend to Wikipedia. I have noticed that you have been a little inactive but that is fine. Just contribute when you feel that it is necessary. To tell the truth even I am growing more and more inactive; as I am very busy in the real life...and real life always comes first. Cheers. ~ Arjun 15:30, 7 March 2007 (UTC)[reply]

Swadhyay Parivar

[edit]

Hi friend. Just wonderng how the editing of Swadhyay Parivar is going. I've been away from the discussion for a long time now so I was just curious. Take care. Stoneice02 03:20, 13 March 2007 (UTC)[reply]

Re: Tryethylamine.

[edit]

Hello Swadhyayee, unfortunately I don't have any info concerning restrictions on import-export of triethylamine. My edits to the page were mostly dealing with the chemistry of this compound, so I'm afraid I cannot help you. Best regards, Berserker79 10:29, 17 March 2007 (UTC)[reply]

Regarding reversions[3] made on March 21 2007 to Swadhyay Parivar

[edit]
Warning
Warning

Please refrain from undoing other people's edits repeatedly. If you continue, you may be blocked from editing Wikipedia. Note that the three-revert rule prohibits making more than three reversions in a content dispute within a 24 hour period. Additionally, users who perform a large number of reversions in content disputes may be blocked for edit warring, even if they do not technically violate the three-revert rule. Rather than reverting, discuss disputed changes on the talk page. The revision you want is not going to be implemented by edit warring. Thank you. Aksi_great (talk) 14:48, 21 March 2007 (UTC)[reply]

I don't care what followers of Pandurang Shashtri want to do. An edit war still remains an edit war. 3RR is an iron fence which must not be crossed. - Aksi_great (talk) 18:25, 21 March 2007 (UTC)[reply]
And you are not reverting vandals, you are involved in a content dispute. - Aksi_great (talk) 18:28, 21 March 2007 (UTC)[reply]
When I last checked both you and Hemendra were involved in an edit-war over a content dispute. You cannot revert an article more that 3 times in a day unless you are reverting vandalism. I warned both you and Hemendra together about 3RR. And it looks like he stopped reverting because of the warning. He did not come to my talk page calling you a vandal, but you did. As I said, I do not find his edits vandalism. - Aksi_great (talk) 13:37, 22 March 2007 (UTC)[reply]
What I am saying that it is unfair to call other users "vandals" and revert their edits when you are involved in an edit-war with them. Clearly you get way too emotional when it comes to Swadhyay Parivar. Instead of plain reverting you should always start a discussion with the user or at the talk page. - Aksi_great (talk) 14:12, 22 March 2007 (UTC)[reply]
Well, I have tried hard to make you understand the difference. To be blunt, an example of vandalism is when a user replaces a page with useless text like "GNAA GNAA GNAA", or when vandals blank pages, etc. Every edit where a user is editing in good faith is considered to be a valid edit, not vandalism. Now if the user is making a mistake, then it is ok to revert it and explain it to the user. But in cases like this, when you have strong views about the topic, and another user with a POV opposite to yours edits the article, it is strictly prohibited to revert more than 3 times. - Aksi_great (talk) 14:20, 22 March 2007 (UTC)[reply]

Don't mention it

No problem about the protection of Swadhyay Parivar. It had to be done, I had been contemplating it for a long time. After seeing what has been going on lately I felt that action had to be taken. Let me know if you need anything. Cheers.

Hi Swadhyayee

[edit]

Namaste Swadhyayee. I am honestly just very busy, I haven't had time to check up on Wikipedia very often. I have been very busy in my Music and there have been a lot more things that have been keeping me busy. I hope to become more active in Wikipedia in the future but for now I am taking it easy. Soon I may begin to work more on the Hinduism page, sadly I fear that Talk:Hinduism hasn't been as active. I miss reading and adding my input to discussions. As for HeBhagawan...I am a little concerned, surely if he was taking a break he would have returned by now. Or at least let everyone know that he has left, but for know I have no idea. Hope life and business is well. ~ Arjun 01:57, 11 April 2007 (UTC)[reply]

p.s I recieved the email in relation to locking the article. If you sent another one I probably missed it or for some reason it didn't send. Cheers. ~ Arjun 01:58, 11 April 2007 (UTC)[reply]

Discussion

[edit]

A "good faith user" is trying to conflate Hinduism with Idolatry. Noting that Wikipedia's article of idolatry defines Idolatry as a sin, it gives the reader the implication that Hindus are sinners. However to reinvent the wheel, I invite you to a discussion on Murti puja and etc at Talk:Hinduism#idolatry.3F.Bakaman 02:03, 27 May 2007 (UTC)[reply]

Seeking opinion from regular editors on reference pattern

[edit]

References: Notes and citations section; change in reference and notes temporarily ceased; WP:FOOT says I am not doing wrong; Separate Notes and Citation sections

Opinion is sought from regular editors of the article Hinduism regarding the splitting of Notes and references section. This is a short gist of the discussions going on in the above mentioned talk links: Having a separate "Notes" (for explanatory remarks) and "Citations" (for direct citations), although permitted, is relatively rare in Wikipedia, and also in academic journals. The main rationale behind doing this is to distinguish a series of explanatory remarks from the series of citations (please see Rabindranath Tagore, Demosthenes for examples).

This sandbox gives a glimpse of how the article would look if we split the sections (the sandbox is under work, so may not be perfect). This link shows how the article looks with combined section. This may give an idea how it looked when I started working on references. I converted many references to Harvard format, apart from splitting the sections.

Opinion for regular editors are sought regarding the application of splitting of two section for this article. Please do so in Talk:Hinduism in the section Talk:Hinduism#Seeking_opinion_from_regular_editors_on_reference_pattern. Regards.--Dwaipayan (talk) 04:59, 22 July 2007 (UTC)[reply]

Hi! welcome back. Thanks for dropping the note. Anyway, you need not take much pain now, a consensus has been reached effectively. Enjoy your stay in Wikipedia :) Regards.--Dwaipayan (talk) 22:12, 20 October 2007 (UTC)[reply]
