Proposed deletion of 10 things you didnt know abut Fidel Castro

The article 10 things you didnt know abut Fidel Castro has been proposed for deletion because of the following concern:

Unsourced trivia with inappropriate title for an Encyclopaedia entry.

Regarding 10 things you didnt know abut Fidel Castro, first you have made a typo (abut = about). Also, titles like these are not allowed in Wiki. I see that you have also requested an article for creation which was unfortunately rejected. I think some of the content can be twicked a bit and included in Fidel Castro's article especially under "childhood" (with the relevant sources), but it looks like it has been done already. This is just to give you an encouragement and to say don't give up even if this article is deleted. You can always create another with reliable sources. Self-published works, and a possible conflict of interest.

I think that it reasonable to assume from your username that you are the author of Fidel Castro's Childhood: The Untold Story by Steven Walker,[1] which you cited in a contribution to our Fidel Castro article. If this is the case, I'd suggest you familiarise yourself with Wikipedia policy regarding conflicts of interest, and with our policy regarding reliable sources. The book appears to be self-published, and as such unlikely to be seen as a sufficiently reliable source for a high-profile article on a controversial living person - at least until it has been given recognition e.g. by citation in other reputable published sources. In any case, a substantial body of text such as that which you added would need multiple cited sources, and it is entirely inappropriate for a Wikipedia contributor to be adding substantial portions of self-cited text without making a possible conflict of interest known. As for your book, I've not read it, and will make no judgement either way regarding it's merits (it is not the job of Wikipedia contributors to do such things - we leave this to academia, to book reviewers etc), and I wish you well regarding its publication - but it is unlikely to be seen as a suitable source for the article concerned. I see that you have ignored my comments above, and again attempted to cite this self-published work in the article. [2]. If you persist in doing this without first clarifying your possible relationship with the author of the book, and without discussing on the article talk page (or other appropriate Wikipedia venue, i.e. Wikipedia:Reliable sources/Noticeboard) its validity as a source, I shall report the matter at Wikipedia:Conflict of interest/Noticeboard - we do not allow contributors to promote non-notable works (regardless of authorship), and we take a very dim view of those who appear to be doing so for their own benefit. Of course it is entirely possible that you aren't the author of the work - in which case I suggest that you should take a look at our WP:REALNAME policy. Just wanted to clarify for the reviewer Andy the Grump that my work is self-published but based on thorough research as evidenced in the references and extensive bibliography. I have published 9 books before with mainstream publishers so my track record of accuracy, and fidelity speaks for itself.Self publishing the work cited: Fidel Castro's Childhood- the untold story was a way of ensuring historical accuracy regarding this living person, plus enabling me to donate 10% royalities to a children's orphanage in Cuba.My small edits on 23 July are revisions of previous contributions, and in my view are fully compliant with Wikipedia guidelines. In addition they do add another perspective to Fidel Castro's complex personality. I think your best course is to raise the matter at Wikipedia:Reliable sources/Noticeboard, explaining the situation (including your authorship of the work), and asking for wider input. I'd not get your hopes up though, as our standards are high regarding sources for high profile articles, and we have to take particular care with biographies of living persons - we'd expect to use sources with a proven track record in the particular subject area, particularly for controversial issues. However, there is an alternative approach - since presumably you have references for the material for your book, it may be possible to cite them instead for any additions to the Castro article, assuming that they meet our reliability requirements. I am an expert in the field of child psychology- hence the title of the book, multiple references and my own publications within the subject area. I have cited 2 other publications in the small revision.
