CarmenRodriguez91[edit]

Hi SweetCanadianMullet. Thanks for welcoming me to Wikipedia. I have just submitted my first article, which I created in my sandbox. While this first article is being reviewed, I'd like to start drafting that in my sandbox. Can I just delete my first article from my user sandbox, now that it's submitted? Or can I create a second sandbox, and if so, how?

Thanks in advance for any insights.

--CarmenRodriguez91 (talk) 00:07, 9 April 2017 (UTC) CarmenRodriguez91[reply]

Thank you! You can delete the redirect on your sandbox (#REDIRECT [[Draft:Article]]) and work there. If you are planning to submit it to AFC, it is best to start and edit it in the draft space (Draft:Article). --SweetCanadianMullet 04:10, 9 April 2017 (UTC)[reply]

Hello, I just wondered if you could explain why you rated Acharya Polytechnic as a WP:Good Article without it seemingly going through any of the assessment or review procedures let alone even being nominated via the GA process? I am removing the assessment, but would appreciate some insight into why you made this decision. Mabalu (talk) 09:25, 10 April 2017 (UTC)[reply]

That´s odd, I don´t recall adding GA class to that. I wouldn´t add GA without the procedure, but thank you for removing that, not sure what happened. I do remember that it had a good article top icon or something of that nature, so I´m not quite sure. SweetCanadianMullet 12:38, 10 April 2017 (UTC)[reply]
Hmmm.... I wonder if our article creator added the template and the rest was just automated...? If so, someone's been a little naughty.... Mabalu (talk) 13:25, 10 April 2017 (UTC)[reply]
Aha! It's a duplication of Acharya Institute of Technology - I've just speedied it for that reason. Mabalu (talk) 13:35, 10 April 2017 (UTC)[reply]

01:30:31, 11 April 2017 review of submission by Jammin75[edit]

Hi, I'm a little confused on why you're not acknowledging my subject's notability and the reviewer before yourself had not questioned it but only questioned my reliable sources. I've proven my subject is notable as she had a charting single in the New Zealand National chart and also charted in Japan. Is that not notable? I also believe my sources are reliable. Please explain why yet again this article has been rejected? Thanks Jammin75 (talk) 01:30, 11 April 2017 (UTC)[reply]

I'm sorry, I declined it for notability. I'm looking over the draft again and she is notable. I'm submitting it to mainspace now. SweetCanadianMullet 13:54, 12 April 2017 (UTC)[reply]

Your submission at Articles for creation: Lisa Maxwell (singer, songwriter) has been accepted[edit]

Lisa Maxwell (singer, songwriter), which you submitted to Articles for creation, has been created.
The article has been assessed as Start-Class, which is recorded on the article's talk page. You may like to take a look at the grading scheme to see how you can improve the article.

You are more than welcome to continue making quality contributions to Wikipedia. Note that because you are a logged-in user, you can create articles yourself, and don't have to post a request. However, you may continue submitting work to Articles for Creation if you prefer.

Thank you for helping improve Wikipedia!

Paul Fox (Singer)[edit]

Hi SweetCanadianMullet,

Thanks for reviewing my article: [1] The reason I am trying to submit this page firstly is because if you Google 'Paul Fox Reggae' the first result is a Wikipedia page about Paul Fox of the Ruts who died a few years ago. We have the same name and this means that many people think I am dead! I am working in the same section of the reggae scene as a number of other people who have Wikipedia pages and I used their pages as a guideline to what is required as they were obviously approved. Below are a couple of examples of Wikipedia pages which either have the same level of links regarding 'notability' or less (and in some cases no working reference links at all). Please could you let me know if they were approved why my page has not been approved. [2] [3]

Many thanks and your time is much appreciated.

New Page Reviewer granted[edit]

Hello SweetCanadianMullet. Your account has been added to the "New page reviewers" user group, allowing you to review new pages and mark them as patrolled, tag them for maintenance issues, or in some cases, tag them for deletion. The list of articles awaiting review is located at the New Pages Feed. New page reviewing is a vital function for policing the quality of the encylopedia, if you have not already done so, you must read the new tutorial at New Pages Review, the linked guides and essays, and fully understand the various deletion criteria. If you need more help or wish to discuss the process, please join or start a thread at page reviewer talk.

  • URGENT: Please consider helping get the huge backlog down to a manageable number of pages as soon as possible.
  • Be nice to new users - they are often not aware of doing anything wrong.
  • You will frequently be asked by users to explain why their page is being deleted - be formal and polite in your approach to them too, even if they are not.
  • Don't review a page if you are not sure what to do. Just leave it for another reviewer.
  • Remember that quality is quintessential to good patrolling. Take your time to patrol each article, there is no rush. Use the message feature and offer basic advice.

The reviewer right does not change your status or how you can edit articles. If you no longer want this user right, you may ask any administrator to remove it for you at any time. In case of abuse or persistent inaccuracy of reviewing, the right can be revoked at any time by an administrator. Callanecc (talkcontribslogs) 08:16, 24 June 2017 (UTC)[reply]

Edit conflict on Margaret Wharton[edit]

A barnstar for you![edit]

The Original Barnstar
Thank you for your review of "Amal Abou Zeid" page.. Could you please help me: how do I add the categories & how do I avoid link rots.

Thank you JGM88 (talk) 09:48, 1 July 2017 (UTC)[reply]

You can add a category to a page by adding [[Category:XYZ]] to the bottom of the page manually, but above a stub template if there is one. I highly reccomend HotCat to add categories instead of manually. To avoid link rot, you should fill in the entire reference using {{cite web}}. For full information, Help:Category and WP:PLRT. SweetCanadianMullet (talk) 13:56, 1 July 2017 (UTC)[reply]

Pending changes reviewer granted[edit]

Hello. Your account has been granted the "pending changes reviewer" userright, allowing you to review other users' edits on pages protected by pending changes. The list of articles awaiting review is located at Special:PendingChanges, while the list of articles that have pending changes protection turned on is located at Special:StablePages.

Being granted reviewer rights neither grants you status nor changes how you can edit articles. If you do not want this user right, you may ask any administrator to remove it for you at any time.

Backlog update:

  • The new page backlog is currently at 18,511 pages. We have worked hard to decrease from over 22,000, but more hard work is needed! Please consider reviewing even just a few pages a a day.
  • Some editors are committing to work specifically on patrolling new pages on 15 July. If you have not reviewed new pages in a while, this might be a good time to be involved. Please remember that quality of patrolling is more important than quantity, that the speedy deletion criteria should be followed strictly, and that ovetagging for minor issues should be avoided.

15:23:02, 17 July 2017 review of submission by DCooney[edit]

Dear SweetCanadianMullet, Thank you for taking the time to review my submission. I don't understand what sources need to be foot noted. Do you mean the links under "references" or do you mean the links in the body of the submission? Any advice is very appreciated. Sincerely, Daniel Cooney

Thank you for reviewing my submission.[edit]

Dear Sweet Canadian Mullet,

Thank you for reviewing my submission. This is my first Wikipedia entry and I am quite overwhelmed. Are you suggesting that all my inline citations should be footnoted or just the references listed under "References". I'm afraid that I don't understand what you are saying when you say to use footnotes. What needs to be footnoted? Thank you for your assistance.

DCooney (talk) 15:41, 17 July 2017 (UTC)Daniel Cooney[reply]

@DCooney: Footnotes means that references are cited inline and supports statements made in the article directly. To make a footnote, add <ref>...</ref>, and put {{cite web}} in the ref tags. For instructions on how to use {{cite web}}, see the cite web template syntax. For more information regarding footnotes, see WP:IC. SweetCanadianMullet (talk) 17:06, 17 July 2017 (UTC)[reply]

Charles Domingo[edit]

Thank you for accepting my article on Charles Domingo for publication on 4th July, however I have to question your award of a C-class to it. My experience is that a number of Wikipedia editors do this as a default option, without considering how much effort has gone into the production of an article. Of course, you must be bound by Wikipedia's quality scale, but it is difficult for me to fit your grading into the published criteria.

A C-class is one "...missing important content or contains much irrelevant material..." and which "...fails one or more of the criteria for B-Class". It is difficult to see what content, important or otherwise is missing, as the article effectively contains all that is known about Charles Domingo and it describes no more or less than his career without any extraeneuos material. If you think otherwise, please let me know.

As to the listed criteria for B-class, I don't think that items 1 to 3 or 6 are in question, but if you think so, please let me know. As to 4. there is no undeniably authentic photograph of Domingo, I cannot think of any other relevant material to include and such items are encouraged rather than required. As to whether or not it is reasonably well-written, I'm open to comments, but it appears to me to be neutral and grammatically correct.

I realise that you are busy and may feel you have done enough by simply accepting the article, but to me a C-class that seems unjustified is something of a kick in the teeth. Colonial African history may not be your field but I trust you will givecredit where it is due and revise the grading.

Continue?9876543210 moved to draftspace[edit]

An article you recently created, Continue?9876543210, does not have enough sources and citations as written to remain published. It needs more citations from reliable, independent sources. (?) Information that can't be referenced should be removed (verifiability is of central importance on Wikipedia). I've moved your draft to draftspace (with a prefix of "Draft:" before the article title) where you can incubate the article with minimal disruption. When you feel the article meets Wikipedia's general notability guideline and thus is ready for mainspace, please follow the prompts on the Articles for Creation template atop the page. - TheMagnificentist 09:13, 31 July 2017 (UTC)[reply]

New Page Reviewer Newsletter[edit]

Hello SweetCanadianMullet, thank you for your efforts reviewing new pages!

Backlog update:

  • The new page backlog is currently at 12713 pages. Please consider reviewing even just a few pages each day! If everyone helps out, it will really put a dent in the backlog.
  • Currently the backlog stretches back to March and some pages in the backlog have passed the 90 day Google index point. Please consider reviewing some of them!

Outreach and Invitations:

  • If you know other editors with a good understanding of Wikipedia policy, invite them to join NPP by dropping the invitation template on their talk page with: {{subst:NPR invite}}. Adding more qualified reviewers will help with keeping the backlog manageable.

New Year New Page Review Drive

  • A backlog drive is planned for the start of the year, beginning on January 1st and running until the end of the month. Unique prizes will be given in tiers for both the total number of reviews made, as well as the longest 'streak' maintained.
  • Note: quality reviewing is extremely important, please do not sacrifice quality for quantity.

General project update:

  • ACTRIAL has resulted in a significant increase in the quality of new submissions, with noticeably fewer CSD, PROD, and BLPPROD candidates in the new page feed. However, the majority of the backlog still dates back to before ACTRIAL started, so consider reviewing articles from the middle or back of the backlog.
  • The NPP Browser can help you quickly find articles with topics that you prefer to review from within the backlog.
  • To keep up with the latest conversation on New Pages Patrol or to ask questions, you can go to Wikipedia talk:New pages patrol/Reviewers and add it to your watchlist.

Hello, SweetCanadianMullet. I wanted to let you know that I’m proposing an article that you started, Finger Flashing, for deletion because I don't think it meets our criteria for inclusion. If you don't want the article deleted:

  1. edit the page
  2. remove the text that looks like this: {{proposed deletion/dated...}}
  3. save the page

Also, be sure to explain why you think the article should be kept in your edit summary or on the article's talk page. If you don't do so, it may be deleted later anyway.

You can leave a note on my talk page if you have questions.

Hello SweetCanadianMullet, thank you for your efforts reviewing new pages!

Announcing the NPP New Year Backlog Drive!

We have done amazing work so far in December to reduce the New Pages Feed backlog by over 3000 articles! Now is the time to capitalise on our momentum and help eliminate the backlog!

The backlog drive will begin on January 1st and run until January 29th. Prize tiers and other info can be found HERE.

Awards will be given in tiers in two categories:

  • The total number of reviews completed for the month.
  • The minimum weekly total maintained for all four weeks of the backlog drive.

NOTE: It is extremely important that we focus on quality reviewing. Despite our goal of reducing the backlog as much as possible, please do not rush while reviewing.
