Edit summary

[edit]

Information icon Hello. Thank you for your contributions to Wikipedia.

When editing Wikipedia, there is a field labeled "Edit summary" below the main edit box. It looks like this:

Edit summary (Briefly describe your changes)

You can use the edit summary field to explain your reasoning for an edit, or provide a description of what the edit changes. Summaries save time for other editors and reduce the chances your edit will be misunderstood. For some edits a summary may be quite brief.

Please provide an edit summary for every edit you make. With a Wikipedia account you can give yourself a reminder to add an edit summary by setting Preferences → Editing → Tick Prompt me when entering a blank edit summary. Thanks! Volten001 15:06, 20 April 2022 (UTC)[reply]

Hi. Thank you for your recent edits. An automated process has detected that when you recently edited List of micronations, you added a link pointing to the disambiguation page Commune. Such links are usually incorrect, since a disambiguation page is merely a list of unrelated topics with similar titles. (Read the FAQ • Join us at the DPL WikiProject.)

Information icon Hello. Your recent edit to List of micronations appears to have added the name of a non-notable entity to a list that normally includes only notable entries. In general, a person, organization or product added to a list should have a pre-existing article before being added to most lists. If you wish to create such an article, please first confirm that the subject qualifies for a separate, stand-alone article according to Wikipedia's notability guideline. You ignored the large edit notice that says "No micronations without existing articles All micronations listed on this page should already have a Wikipedia article. Any listed micronation that does not already have a Wikipedia article should be removed from the list." Meters (talk) 07:19, 23 May 2022 (UTC)[reply]

Category suppression needed at User:Swiãtopôłk/sandbox

[edit]

Hello. Just a friendly reminder about user page categorization.

I have noticed the user page above is appearing in regular content categories. See for example Category:Albania-related lists under F.

Usually this is remedied by either placing a leading colon in front of each like this:

Flags

or by bracketing all category declarations with:

Either method will disable the category function.

See WP:DRAFTNOCAT, WP:USERNOCAT and Template:Draft categories for additional information.

Thank you. Happy editing! --DB1729 (talk) 11:05, 23 June 2022 (UTC)[reply]

List of Bolivian flags moved to draftspace

[edit]

An article you recently created, List of Bolivian flags, is not suitable as written to remain published. It needs more citations from reliable, independent sources. (?) Information that can't be referenced should be removed (verifiability is of central importance on Wikipedia). I've moved your draft to draftspace (with a prefix of "Draft:" before the article title) where you can incubate the article with minimal disruption. When you feel the article meets Wikipedia's general notability guideline and thus is ready for mainspace, please click on the "Submit your draft for review!" button at the top of the page. List of flags of Lithuania

[edit]

You currently appear to be engaged in an edit war according to the reverts you have made on List of flags of Lithuania. This means that you are repeatedly changing content back to how you think it should be although other editors disagree. Users are expected to collaborate with others, to avoid editing disruptively, and to try to reach a consensus, rather than repeatedly undoing other users' edits once it is known that there is a disagreement.

Points to note:

 1. Edit warring is disruptive regardless of how many reverts you have made;
 2. Do not edit war even if you believe you are right.

If you find yourself in an editing dispute, use the article's talk page to discuss controversial changes and work towards a version that represents consensus among editors. You can post a request for help at an appropriate noticeboard or seek dispute resolution. In some cases, it may be appropriate to request temporary page protection. If you engage in an edit war, you may be blocked from editing.Sabbatino 19:23, 5 January 2023 (UTC)[reply]

Hello, Swiãtopôłk. It has been over six months since you last edited the Articles for Creation submission or Draft page you started, "List of Bolivian flags".

In accordance with our policy that Wikipedia is not for the indefinite hosting of material deemed unsuitable for the encyclopedia mainspace, the draft has been deleted. Flags of Algiers

[edit]

Hello, thank you for your intrest and your work on the Flags of Algeria, for naval flags check this out: Corsairs of Algiers and [1]

Few notes: The green flag with yellow crescent in the middle is fictitious according to [2] :"One Dey, however, at least had a coat of arms: these still survive sculptured on the wall of a building in Algiers. Though now whitewashed over, the colours are on record. The arms consisted of a green shield, bearing the interlacing triangles known as the seal of Solomon, in gold, with a silver crescent in the centre. The whole had a red border and was surmounted by a sort of crown. It was perhaps these arms which led a modern French writer to speak rather inaccurately of the Deys as having a "green standard with a golden crescent".

Speaking of the yellow, green and red bands flags: there is this source : [3] p 371

Hope this helps. Nourerrahmane (talk) 20:02, 1 January 2024 (UTC)[reply]

@Nourerrahmane: Thank you for the feedback, I removed the green flag from the main article but added it at the very bottom List of Algerian flags. I made a special section there for a few mistakes that I encounter quite often and I think it's better to explain them than to ignore them. I'm planning to do a few things in the near future, if you can help me with anything I would be grateful.

- I plan to publish a new article about the flags of the Kingdom of Beni Abbas/pre-colonial flags of Kabylia, I'm just doing it and every source is welcome. Similarly with the Kingdom of Tlemcen, but I don't think much will change there.

- I am looking for sources from which I could open the flags of modern branches of the armed forces. I know there are national flags with gold insignia in the canton, but there are also inscriptions that are not visible in the photos. Territorial Air Defence Forces, Nvy

Flags for micronations.

[edit]

Please see Wikipedia:Village_pump_(policy)/Archive_191#RfC:_micronation_infoboxes. Per the RfC, infoboxes for micronations will generally not include flags, and you will need to obtain consensus (e.g. by demonstrating that independent reliable sources discuss the matter sufficiently to indicate the significance of the flag) before they can be added to any specific article. @反共抗獨光復民國 This image is based on one source, which apart from being on the list of unreliable sources and one should be careful with their information, also simply states "No mention was made of a Union Garland for the Governor, but I include this as I believe one probably existed. Martin Grieve, 1 Febuary 2004". Without reliable sources it should not be used in any article.

PS.
