Moving pages[edit]

Please do not simply switch the redirects on a page to "move" it; use the page move tool to preserve the edit history. Since the Los Rodeos Airport article has been moved back and forth several times, it does not qualify as uncontroversial, so please add {{moveto|new page name}} to the top of the article's talk page and determine the general sentiment towards the move. I didn't "change it back for tech reasons". Since the page has been redirected back and forth several times, the move does not qualify as uncontroversial, which means you need consensus before making the move. Since the page was improperly moved in the first place, using redirects instead of the move feature (done by you), it will actually have to be merged. So, place the tag {{merge|Tenerife North Airport}} at the top of the Los Rodeos Airport article. On the Los Rodeos talk page, add your explanation for the merge. Also, create a new section using the == on the talk page so people can actually find what you wrote. After 5 days if there are no objections, then you can merge the pages into the Tenerife North Airport article. World Highest Bus Stop[edit]

I have added a "{{prod}}" template to the article World Highest Bus Stop, suggesting that it be deleted according to the proposed deletion process. All contributions are appreciated, but I don't believe it satisfies Wikipedia's criteria for inclusion, and I've explained why in the deletion notice (see also "What Wikipedia is not" and Wikipedia's deletion policy). You may contest the proposed deletion by removing the {{dated prod}} notice, but please explain why you disagree with the proposed deletion in your edit summary or on its talk page. Also, please consider improving the article to address the issues raised. Even though removing the deletion notice will prevent deletion through the proposed deletion process, the article may still be deleted if it matches any of the speedy deletion criteria or it can be sent to Articles for Deletion, where it may be deleted if consensus to delete is reached. There are plenty of higher bus stops in Peru / Chile, or any other mountainous region - Tiswas^(t/c) 09:38, 17 April 2007 (UTC)[reply]

All of the bus stops in La Paz Bolivia are more than 1000m higher than the 2356M of the cable car station on Teide. Elevation of the main square in La Paz is 3828m. There are other higher bus stops in Bolivia. --Bejnar 03:46, 18 April 2007 (UTC)[reply]

I have restored the Cabildo (council), eliminating most of the modern Canary Island material and putting a link into your new article, Cabildo Canaries. Make links, not destroy links[edit]

There is a key concept in Wikipedia which is to provide users with the ability to instantly (at a moments click) to access other information instead of what they are currently reading. (This concept came from Vannevar Bush.) Case in point, the article Cabildo (council). The template main there was intended to lead people to the article that you crafted on the modern cabildos of the Canary Islands. When you remove that opportunity for readers to find the other article you limit and hinder part of the way that the Wikipedia is intended to function. The other thing to think about is that the articles in the Wikipedia are to some extent hierarchical. There are more general articles such as ones about a mountain range, say the Andes, and more specific ones about the various peaks in that range, for example Mount Chimborazo. In the case at issue, Cabildo (council) is a more general article, and the article Cabildo Canaries is more specific. It is entirely appropriate for the general to refer to the specific and vica versa. Also, when you find that a number of articles link to another, but they link for a reason that is not your reason for the article's existence, you should try to consider what point of view you might be not seeing. It might be true, like it was in this case that the two points of view in the article might require that they become two articles, rather than one, but you should not eliminate one whole concept and all of the links to it, as you did with your edits to Cabildo (council). There was a reason for those links, just as there is a reason for the more general article Cabildo (council) to link to Cabildo Canaries. Cabildo (council) is not a replacement for Cabildo Canaries, or a duplicate, just like the article on Colombia is not a replacement for, nor a duplicate of the article History of Colombia.
