Re: Your question regarding copyrighted images[edit]

A number of the items you listed (logos, print advertisements, screenshots) would already be copyrighted and are owned by your company. The two best ways to work around this are: 1) Upload content that is owned by you (such as photographs taken by yourself) and license under either Creative Common or GNU Free License. 2) In some cases copyrighted work can be used on Wikipedia but only if it follows a strict guideline outlined here. When you do upload your content you will need to select "Fair Use Rationale" and fill out the appropriate information. Hi there. I'm sorry to have had to do this, but I've deleted the Workhorse Custom Chassis article under our speedy deletion guidelines as being an advertising piece. As it was written, it was far too promotional to be acceptable as an encyclopedia article - I could outline the problems, but it would take up a lot of space. Basically, it's written as a press release, and that will get you dinged for being unencyclopedic every time. The company's probably notable under our corporation guidelines, however, so what I'm going to do is paste the source code for the page onto User:TaigMarksInc/Sandbox so you can work on it some more. I highly recommend doing the following:

  • Remove the glowing praise from the article. ("marketspeak," the wording that promotes the product - I've written more than a few press releases myself, and know how it gets used there, but it's inappropriate in an encyclopedia article.) The article must be neutral and factual to be acceptable, and not violate our neutral point of view guidelines. Things like "a leader in...," "challenge the market," "industry-unique," "the most fuel-efficient chassis to date," and so on are all promotional phrasings, and need to come out. Detailing each product is overdoing it as well.
  • Please take out the trademark and other marks - those are inappropriate for an encyclopedia as well.
  • Find some diverse reliable sources for the article - the ones you've used look to be reprints or rewrites of press releases in a lot of cases, and are from industry magazines. If you can find some references from other media that discuss the company, those would probably be better sources.

Another issue to keep in mind is conflict of interest. I assume Workhorse is a client of your company, and we're very wary of people writing articles about people who are paying them for promotional work. Please keep that in mind as you work on this. (Be warned that your username may also be considered a problem - Wikipedia:UN#Company/group names outlines our guidelines on that front, but I'm not going to pursue that at present.)

I hope this explains why I've had to delete the article, and what you can do to develop it into something more appropriate. Hi there. Regarding your questions on my talk page: you don't have to worry about anything in your personal sandbox page being deleted - that's only on the main Wikipedia sandbox page, which is automatically wiped on a regular basis. Your own user space is not automatically patrolled by the bots that handle such chores elsewhere - it's there until you decide you don't want it anymore. That way you can work on it at your own pace... I've got an article I started months ago sitting in a sandbox page growing electronic moss right now.
As for the username - our policy on usernames is that those named after a company are generally considered inappropriate, because they may be viewed as promotional. It's not specifically a problem, but if you're going to be editing on pages involving your clients (which I do suggest is a little risky due to the conflict of interest issues), that may be an issue down the road. If you want to change it, you can make a request at this page, and our bureaucrat team can take a look at it. Make sure that any user name you want hasn't been taken before you request it, though, otherwise you may have to use a different method. Hope this helps!
