Ok. It's not about the notability of the subject, but that the article did not assert the subject's importance or significance. If simply being something automatically asserts importance or significance of the given subject, then something is wrong somewhere. This could all be avoided if people creating articles would invest a small bit of time asserting the importance of the subject while the article is within their own user space, and then bringing the article onto WP. "in the European Super League." equals significance and importance. The article can be fleshed out by any editor, however as it stands it describes him as playing for a first-grade team. Londo06, thank you for the clarification. I will defer to your position, as I am sure you know much more about the European Super League than I do. To me, differing views of importance and significance simply highlight the problems endemic to Wikipedia and its policies. Have you any idea how much is missing? Please look at the articles on French communes. There are over 30,000 French communes and all have been created with one single sentence. First the article need to be created with basic structure, development is the second step. I am creating these articles to fill up the gap. According to WP:ATHLETE any player or coach of a top league team automatically satisfies criteria, and even the inclusion of a single sentence is sufficient to exclude csd as an option. Even if it were taken to AfD, the result would likely be keep. Earlier today I encountered one editor who was going through a map and adding one-sentence articles on a bunch of tiny communities in his home province. I mentioned that the volume of these new pages was a bit excessive, but he disagreed. The way Wikipedia is set up, he is correct. None of those pages would likely be deleted under AfD's. I just read the notice you sent to that admin. I was a little too enthusiastic back then. And I felt so sorry of what I did I wanted to apologize. I don't think that was wrong, if it was, please tell me. Also, the adoption Program wasn't really my idea. Two other users (that I know of) have an adoption Program too, one is an admin. I'm also not trying to start another adopt-a-user program. I is only for my adoptees to learn better while giving out tests. I also let admins grade the tests after I do. Hi. If you wanted to do a basic manual archive, you could create a subpage of your talk page (something like [[/Archive1]]). Bots are definitely easier, especially if the talk page is used frequently. I was actually thinking about looking into one for myself. Hi. Thanks for the effort in quickly creating the SD article. I would support a merge, but I still am confused about the reliability of the original RHMS article. In Rolling Hills Middle School it notes that the principal is Gloria Silva, however in the school's web page it says the principal is Rick Ito. The two people mentioned in the RHMS article as senior administrators are not listed anywhere in the senior administration as seen on the school's official page. Please consider how problematic it is to cite a page titled Neology when you are trying to show that a word is not a neologism. Even the blogger states that it's a "fascinating attempt" to create a new word. How does this support keeping the article? Other references are equally weak. I answer here. I understand your concerns and I agree with you that it is better to find English sources for en.Wiki articles. There is a problem, anyway: many parties from non-Enghlish-speaking countries (especially the small ones, but even the largest ones) have no sources in English. Does this mean that they are thus not encyclopedic? I don't think so. "subst" indicates to the software that the template should be expanded to the full current version on the page where it was placed. This means that even if the template is modified in the future, the version you placed on the page will not change. This is important on user talk pages because the recipient will read and respond to the message as first seen on the talk page. If the template changes in the future, some context of the user's original comments may be lost. This gesture has roots in Trinidadian culture and its name was not derived based on a word. Due to its nature, it has not found itself to be documented or labeled in any text as it is a fairely recent developement. It is also only practiced by a certain age group (mainly adolecents) in the country. Hi. Information in Wikipedia must meet criteria for verifiability. We cannot make assumptions about things which cannot be verified. If something is known colloquially, it still must have reliable sources, which would be more than word-of-mouth confirmation. This is why, for example, neologisms cannot be added. If a cultural expert has written something on the subject in a verifiable and reliable source, that information could be cited in the article. I certainly found the article interesting. To new and even more interesting projects, of course!

As announced in the newsletter, I've been preparing to co-coordinate a large collaboration/competition called Around the World. It was going to be run at the Awards Center, but since that no longer exists, the collaboration will be hosted somewhere else.

Around the World will begin July 15th as planned - it's location will be announced soon.

It'll be a blast. In the competition, participants will be helping to develop over 200 pages (drafts, which will be moved to article space once they are ready), using advanced tools to edit every single one of them!

This is going to be interesting.

And the event shall have awards which are being created specifically for it as we speak!

If you would like me to keep you informed of this and other interesting collaborations I'll be working on and/or organizing in the future, please drop me a note on my talk page, and I'll be happy to keep you in the know.

What is Around the World?[edit]

It's a collaboration!

A collaboration using advanced wiki-tools!

If everything goes according to plan, it will begin on July 15th.

The event is being co-sponsored by Wikiproject Lists of basic topics and WikiProject Geography, and participants will be "traveling" all around "the World" visiting each country online (here on Wikipedia and perhaps beyond) as they apply advanced wiki-tools to improve pieces of the profiles of each and every country on Earth!. Each pass through these pages is a "trip around the World..."

The set of pages we are working on is currently located at Wikipedia:WikiProject Lists of basic topics.

Each page presents essential information on each country in a topic outline format, for ease of overviewing and navigating. Most of the topics presented are linkified, which turns these pages into a hypertextual map to material about each country on Wikipedia. When completed, they shall all become part of Wikipedia's contents system.

The pages share a standard format, with the information on each country presented in the same general order. So rather than getting stuck on a single country trying to complete it, each participant works on all 200+ political entities, completing a single data item or detail across all of the pages!

For this they use advanced tools like WP:AWB, Linky, etc. It goes fast, and since others are doing this at the same time, it makes "the World" feel like a beehive, and the participants are its bees. :) The energy is contagious.

And since you are moving from country to country, the tasks make it feel like you are traveling around the world, and you get to learn a little about every country as you do so. This approach also allows for greater efficiency, because by the time you've done 30 or so of a particular item, you've figured out how to finish it faster and more effectively (such as where to find the data or how to make adjustments), and this specialization speeds up development - but more importantly it reduces errors.

The tasks are varied, which adds even more variety to the project. Some tasks are look-ups-and-fill-ins, some are copy and paste, some are image hunts, some are maintenance adjustments, some are link fixing, some are blue-linking (creating an underlying redirect so a link turns blue), some are fact checking, etc.

During the collaboration, co-coordinators will be standing by, to lend a helping hand to participants, provide instruction and tips on how to use the tools, and help them find what they are looking for. Co-coordinators will also be using advanced tools to inspect the work of participants, and touch it up as needed, or if a task was done wrong throughout, point this out to the participant so he or she can make the necessary corrections.

Co-coordinators are working on the set of pages right now, to familiarize themselves with "the World" so they can help more effectively by the time the main event starts. But there's still lots of preparation left to be done, and we are looking for editors experienced in advanced wikitools who would like to become co-coordinators.

Well, we've been around the World, and around again (virtually speaking, on Wikipedia), on this project.

Things have been slowing down again, so it's time for a big push...

We've gone live[edit]

This project needed a shot in the arm. Also, its draft pages have been littering Wikipedia's categories for months. The time seemed right to move all the country outline drafts to article space.

Well, the drafts had been sitting in Wikipedia space for a year.

Development has been moving at a snail's pace and we could use the help of the Wikipedia community at large (who are more likely to find these if they are in article space).

Yes, we've gone live. :)

This puts pressure on us to get the blatantly incomplete elements of these outlines done. The only glaring problem is the government branches sections. These need to be corrected ASAP.

I've mentioned THE GOVERNMENT BRANCHES SECTIONS many times to many people over the past year, but the problem just doesn't seem to have been taken seriously. So let me put it another way:

HELP!!! I need your help on this now. Almost all the countries have a government with an executive branch, a legislative branch, and a judicial branch. The links for these branches need to be completed for each country outline:

Here's a convenient list you can use WP:LINKY on to access and edit these quickly. Please copy the list's link to the top of your talk page so that you can access it easily.

If you spot any standardization in links, and ways we can automate parts of this process, or for groups of countries that have links in common, please let me know!

Administrative support for outlines[edit]

There has been growing pressure on me to write up the administrative pages for outlines - their instructions, guidelines, etc. Therefore, I'm now in the process of composing these. Fortunately, it is mostly a matter of gathering material from messages I've written to you guys over the past year. Still, this is taking up most of my time, and I will be buried in these for the foreseeable future.

Traffic control[edit]

The next big task after the government branches sections are cleaned up is link support for the outlines.

There's quite a list of links and notices that need to be put in place around Wikipedia, providing access to them to readers, and alerting editors to the need to develop and maintain these pages. This will keep our bot people very busy (and happy).

But the most important thing right now is to get the government branches sections completed. So please, put your bots aside, roll up your shirt sleeves, and start typing.

Yes, it would be best to develop an article in your sandbox first (most editors do this). As long as the deletion tag remains on the current article, it will likely be deleted shortly. If you think you can develop the article quickly, you can use the "hangon" feature under the deletion tag to show that you want some time to work on the article. If you want to take more time to work on it, then using your userpage sandbox is best, as you can work on it there without worrying about speedy deletion tags, and then move it over to article mainspace when you're ready. Hi. The kind of info required for an uploaded picture depends on the kind of picture -- do you own it, do you have the copyright holder's permission, or does it qualify under Wikipedia's fair use policy, etc. Regardless of whether or not the subject is a non-profit, the image must satisfy Wikipedia's criteria. There are a number of WP guidelines which will provide all the info necessary: WP:PIC, Image descriptions, WP:IUP, and WP:ICT. I would suggest getting the text and sources of the article lined up first. This will give you plenty of time to determine which of Wikipedia's criteria your pictures fit. Article progress[edit]

Hi. The article is coming along really well. The layout looks great! Do you know of any reliable third party sources which could be added? Or perhaps some links to scholarly papers which credit Diabetes Action as a funding agency?

The reason I ask is that article creation can be hit-or-miss depending on which editors come across it. The standard notability criteria for non-commercial organisations is:

"Organizations are usually notable if they meet both of the following standards:

1. The scope of their activities is national or international in scale.

2. Information about the organization and its activities can be verified by third-party, independent, reliable sources. (In other words, they must satisfy the primary criterion for all organizations as described above.)" -----This was quoted from WP:ORG which is a defining guideline for organisations to be included in Wikipedia.

A concern in this case is references, which so far appear to be internal. WP:PSTS outlines information on sources and is Wikipedia policy.

In short, the primary Wikipedia policies are:

Although Wikipedia claims it is not a bureaucracy, many of its policies can be overly-complex and spread-out. The best advice when creating an article is to ensure to the best extent possible that notability has been established. Notability varies widely: for example a professional league football player is automatically notable (as long as their qualification is verifiable), but an organisation can face a stiffer test.

This article should succeed, but it is best to "address potential objections before they are raised".

I've rambled a bit with a lot of wikireferences and it's late night/early morning where I am, so please let me know if any part of what I wrote is unclear.

Well mate, my story in Hungary started the 3 November, when I saw some pictures and videos of Hungary, I was another man, Each day I woke up, I have to go directly to a Hungarian Channel, visiting Hungarian Web Sites and eating Hungarian food, briefly, in one word, I was Haunted with Hungary and Hungarian attractive and iresistible beauty. The 9 November, I had finally the Idea to visit this magnificent place which I want to die for her, I got a reservation per plane the date of 15 November. The 14 November, I was a crazy man, a true crazy, I was all day on my PC thinking only Hungary, Hungary haunt all my brain. Well it is 23h40 PM and I gotta almost to sleep. I waked up in 4h00AM, with another mind, I was the happiest man ever. I arrived to Lisbon Airport at 4h30AM. My fly was on 6h15AM so I waited almost one hour in the lounge. Only 15 minutes to go now and I was in the final room. Ahhh, when its time its time !!, the time I waited all the last two years arrived, its a true moment for me now ! My place in the plane was near a beautiful Hungarian girl; We talked English and when the plane has to takeoff, she putted her hands over me, I was in love that moment. We talked all the road until we hear the crew announcing that we will land in a few seconds; as we hear that, I was shocked on my heart, saying all this long way, all this moment, finally this earth is full of a moments, that are more than beautiful and extremely precious. Its its 8h30AM and the plane finally lands, yes I was on the place I dreamed, the place I was crazy and haunted in the most important moment of my life. We together out, and stepping until the mini-bus that will takes us in the doors of Budapest International Airport. I almost recupered my suitcases to reach the bus who will lead me until my hotel. What a moment for me! What a moment! What a moment Im living, a true joy, a true pleasure, a true mystical moment, I was in the country of all my existence!. I reached the hotel in last and it was a beautiful hour, 10h00AM. I fastly bruched my hair, and filled a fashion clothes as Budapest is one of the capitals of Fashion. I leaved the hotel and taked a tram to the city centert, I was truly in a mystic moments !!!
