Mach kernel

[edit]

This change [1] was automatically reverted. There is not a separate article for UNICOS MAX, thus I linked to UNICOS.

Newby???

[edit]

I've attempted a couple of (very modest) contrubutions; but I'm very green!!

If I understand correctly the bot reversed my change to the illegal immigration page. A contributor added a link to an organization and I added a few words (from the organization's own web page) to give a more accurate description of the organization. The previous definition obscured their real purpose.

I'm no vandal (sorry, a litte self serving attitude there)

Sorry to waste your time.

Edit on Japan

[edit]

I edited Japan and was warned diff. Japan says the motto of Japan is "Peace and Progress", but I think this is not correct and has no soyrces. So I'm asking the reliability at Talk:Peace and Progress and comment-outed from Japan. I'm sure my edit was not a vandalism. Please check the edit and revert.--Mochi 12:17, 30 July 2006 (UTC)[reply]

Vandalism

[edit]

Hy, I got a message on my talk page by this bot, that I seemingly vandalised the Master (comics). The thing is, most of that article was done by me, a few days ago, but while I was editing, the computer logged out itself and in the page's history was written my IP adress instead of my username. I posted a question on the Help desk, asking if I can revert it somehow, and someone wrote me to try to resubmit my edits under my username. So I copied the whole page a few minutes ago, deleted the whole article, and then with my username put back everything as it was. Then I got the vandalising warning. I don't want you to think that I'm a vandal or something like that, that's why I wrote this to you.--Captain ginyu 19:10, 30 July 2006 (UTC)[reply]

the ICE-T and ICE-TD should be mentioned under tilting trains as i edited (i have this ip-adress for 40 minutes now). 84.153.22.86 19:13, 30 July 2006 (UTC) Flo422 (german wikipedia user)[reply]

Edit on Wikipedia_in_pop_culture

[edit]

I merged Wikipedia in pop culture into the main Wikipedia article. I deleted the contents of the article and replaced it with the text "See Wikipedia". I don't know how to make a redirect. The bot reverted it (makes sense). Not a problem with the bot but it was a legitimate edit. --JCipriani 04:45, 31 July 2006 (UTC)[reply]

I swear on my grandfathers memory I didn't make an edit of vandalism to Latin...what the hell?

Opera project Edit revert

[edit]

Yes, you did revert a perfectly bona fide edit to the Opera Project. It is August 1st. Right? On August 1st we remove the entry for July. Right? - Kleinzach 05:01, 1 August 2006 (UTC)[reply]

Your bot has now idiotically reverted the page three times. Can you please switch it off as soon as possible. Changing text without even reading it is pretty close to vandalism IMO. - Kleinzach 05:08, 1 August 2006 (UTC)[reply]

Umm, I think it's been fixed, I've been having problems with volume, I've been a tad busy :) -- Tawker 00:30, 3 August 2006 (UTC)[reply]

simpsons

[edit]

i changed the word "homosexual" to "gay". most gay people refer to themselves as "gay" not homosexual, so i don't understand why this registered with tawkerbot2 as vandalism. in fact, many gay people find the word "homosexual" to be more off putting than the word gay because it sounds medical, or un-human, or like something an anti-gay person says when disdainfully referring to gay people

Well, we get joe vandal adding "SO AND SO IS GAY" to articles, give me a diff and I'll take a look (a one word change shouldn't trigger it) -- Tawker 00:31, 3 August 2006 (UTC)[reply]

Jemseg redirect

[edit]

I redirected the article Jemseg to Jemseg, New Brunswick because the information was duplicated. Your bot reverted it. I intend to revert it to a redirect. -- Auric 13:29, 2 August 2006 (UTC)[reply]

Thanks for calling off your bot. -- Auric 20:07, 2 August 2006 (UTC)[reply]
Only way the bot would revert a redirect would be a screwup in redirect syntax, I think you got it right the 2nd time :) -- Tawker 00:29, 3 August 2006 (UTC)[reply]

Goon Show archiving

The Goon Show Archiving page that was automatically reverted actually does require deletion. Look at the talk page of The Goon Show.--AlbertW 17:19, 3 August 2006 (UTC)[reply]

Fye D. Flourite/Fay D. Flourite Article Redirection

[edit]

There are several misspellings of a single manga/anime character's name being confused in this case. The problem arises from the fact that the character's name is given in katakana, which renders words in phonetically-delineated syllables, within the source text. There was initially some debate about the name's spelling, until the correct spelling was released by CLAMP, the character's creator. The proper version turned out to be "Fay D. Flourite." In order to try and clear up some of the confusion, I tried to add the (unchanged, except for the spelling mistakes) article under the correct spelling ("Fay D. Flourite"), and redirect the inaccurate spellings ("Fye D. Flourite," "Fai D. Flourite," and "Fai D. Flowright," to name a few) to the proper page. Instead I got the vandalism bot. I'm really very not a vandal, and I was only attempting to edit for the sake of accuracy, and not fanservice.

Mitsubishi Lancer Evolution

[edit]

Hi. I recently made an edit to the section describing the FQ400, which details a suggested expansion of the letters as 'Fucking Quick'. It was previously entered as 'F****** Quick', which is puritanical at best. This is not vandalism; as such, please restore my edit.

User Talk messages

[edit]

Why has the bot not left any user warning messages in the last 75 or so reverts? —Mets501 (talk) 16:50, 6 August 2006 (UTC)[reply]

I would just like to say that the reason I eliminated the contents of the page was due to the fact that I was making that into a re-direct for Alex Scott, which I moved the article to, as Alexandra Scott was best known as Alex Scott. Such was noted in the edit summary. Michael 21:51, 6 August 2006 (UTC)[reply]

Wiki people, someone is editing out criticisms of Sai baba.

Your bot reverted a major edit I made to the politics of the Netherlands article. It was a months before announced radical revision of the article. The lost data was encorporated in the new text or moved to fitting pages. I would like to make the change. --C mon 23:21, 7 August 2006 (UTC)[reply]

List of ministers of the environment

[edit]

I think my edit to List of ministers of the environment (fix the width of the tables) was legitimate and was blocked because I was not registered. I did not change the content, just the presentation of this page. 67.69.13.58 19:23, 9 August 2006 (UTC)[reply]

revert of politics of the Netherlands

[edit]

The radical revision of the articale Politics of the Netherlands by User:C mon should not have been reverted (as Tawkerbot2 did) as this revision was well discussed on the talk page and was an improvement of the article. I have restored C mon's version and undone the action of this bot; however only minutes later the bot reverted my revert again. The page is in no way a protected page, so I think your bot is a bit overactive here. Can yo please make it stop doing that. Best Arnoutf 08:24, 8 August 2006 (UTC)[reply]

Could you give me a diff please - what happens is the bot shouldn't revert (unless someone overrides the safety) someone making the same edit twice in a row, a third party making a revert might trigger it -- Tawker 18:04, 8 August 2006 (UTC)[reply]
I fixed it. I doubt it can be 'fixed' in AI. diff It was something like -50K change, with a lot of seemingly random text removed, because it was worked on separately, then overwritten on the article. The bot reverted.[2] It was then re-reverted by someone else [3], resulting in another bot revert. [4] I noticed this on IRC, and reverted the bot. [5] Probably could've been solved by having C mon revert the bot, as it wasn't angry at the time. Kevin_b_er 00:14, 10 August 2006 (UTC)[reply]

Proposal: Dealing with vanity

[edit]

While on Recent changes patrol, I've noticed that there seems to be a pattern among newly created vanity pages. They tend to be short, uncategorized, dead ends and the user name might have something in common with the article name. Therefore, I would like to propose adding an anti-vanity function to the bot. A sample algorithm for detecting such vanity would be:

IF namespace == main AND article length < 150 AND article is uncategorized AND article does not contain "#REDIRECT" AND article does not contain "stub" THEN page is vanity.

The article would be tagged for speedy deletion under CSD A7 and the user warned. The sad thing about vanity only accounts is that the evidence is self-erasing. Another benefit would be to eliminate short test pages or link spam. Thanks - MER-C 11:06, 23 July 2006 (UTC)[reply]

I edited a the page Dragon Ball, my post was deleted. why?

Good edit IMO

[edit]

I'm (and someone else immed. before me) are attempting to remove a POV & irrelevant statement [6], in our opinions. I'd like to request a whitelist for me (even though this particular instance isn't obvious vandalism), since I haven't made a contentious edit. If a person reverts me, which I don't think has ever happened, I'd prefer to discuss it & if necessary bring in neutral parties rather than 3RR. TransUtopian 13:43, 11 August 2006 (UTC)[reply]

I merely took out this message in Category:Black Jews: "William Saunders Crowdy is not a Jew. He did not convert and his parents are not Jewish." Hello, you cute little robot!

[edit]

Dear Tawkerbot2:

Gee, I think the folks who programmed you should decide if you are a "person" or an "it." I will love you either way, but they should be consistent.

I refer in particular to this sentence which stands at the top of your page:

This page attempts to answer common questions about Tawkerbot2, the user who commonly reverts pages for suspected vandalism.

That's all very well, but don't you really think you should be a "which" and not a "who"? C'mon, now, you really are superhuman, you know, so you can't be a "who." And you are referred to as an "it" throughout the rest of the page.

Sincerely, your friend (no matter WHAT you are), GeorgeLouis 01:25, 18 August 2006 (UTC)[reply]

This bot reverted a series of legitimate changes I made in the past two hours to Slayers. The changes were mistakenly labeled minor when they were major. Perhaps that was the reason the bot acted. I have reverted to my last edit.--Monocrat 00:08, 19 August 2006 (UTC)[reply]

Bot Reverted edit to DDR2 SDRAM

[edit]

I attempted to add a link to DDR SDRAM to the See Also section of the DDR2 SDRAM article. Could someone else look into if this should be added. Accuracy

[edit]

The FAQ says that Tawkerbot2 is estimated at 98% accurate. The Accuracy section on the main user page says it is 99% accurate. Which is it? Tawker, when you have spare time, would you please fix this contradiction? --Gray Porpoise 21:23, 19 August 2006 (UTC)[reply]

To be honest, I have no clue. Short of manually going through 100K+ edits I think I'll just use a random number generator between 98 and 100 to get the correct number :) -- Tawker 03:31, 20 August 2006 (UTC)[reply]

Category revert bug

[edit]

When reverting an edit to a category, a messages with a header similiar to "==Your edit to [[Category:1980 deaths]]==" is left on the user's talk page. This header has the effect of placing the user's talk page into that category. A colon should be inserted before the Category keyword. An example can be seen here. --Pascal666 10:39, 23 August 2006 (UTC)[reply]
