Unreferenced BLPs[edit]

Hello Teachalakazi! Thank you for your contributions. I am a bot alerting you that 1 of the articles that you created is tagged as an Unreferenced Biography of a Living Person. The biographies of living persons policy requires that all personal or potentially controversial information be sourced. In addition, to ensure verifiability, all biographies should be based on reliable sources. If you were to bring this article up to standards, it would greatly help us with the current 941 article backlog. Once the article is adequately referenced, please remove the {{unreferencedBLP}} tag. Here is the article:

  1. Imtiaz Sooliman - Find sources: Google (books · news · scholar · free images · WP refs· FENS · JSTOR · TWL

If this is the first article that you have created, you may want to read the guide to writing your first article.

You may want to consider using the Article Wizard to help you create articles.

A tag has been placed on Gift of the Givers requesting that it be speedily deleted from Wikipedia. This has been done under section A7 of the criteria for speedy deletion, because the article appears to be about an organization or company, but it does not indicate how or why the subject is important or significant: that is, why an article about that subject should be included in an encyclopedia. Under the criteria for speedy deletion, such articles may be deleted at any time. Please see the guidelines for what is generally accepted as notable.

If you think that this notice was placed here in error, contest the deletion by clicking on the button labelled "Click here to contest this speedy deletion," which appears inside of the speedy deletion ({{db-...}}) tag (if no such tag exists, the page is no longer a speedy delete candidate). Doing so will take you to the talk page where you will find a pre-formatted place for you to explain why you believe the page should not be deleted. You can also visit the the page's talk page directly to give your reasons, but be aware that once tagged for speedy deletion, if the page meets the criterion, it may be deleted without delay. Please do not remove the speedy deletion tag yourself, but don't hesitate to add information to the page that would render it more in conformance with Wikipedia's policies and guidelines. If the page is deleted, you can contact one of these administrators to request that the administrator userfy the page or email a copy to you. ninety:one (reply on my talk) 19:21, 20 June 2011 (UTC)[reply]

You may also wish to consider using a Wizard to help you create articles. See the Article Wizard.

Thank you.

A tag has been placed on Gift of the Givers, requesting that it be speedily deleted from Wikipedia. This has been done under the criteria for speedy deletion, because the article seems to be unambiguous advertising that only promotes a company, product, group, service or person and would need to be fundamentally rewritten in order to become an encyclopedia article. Please read the general criteria for speedy deletion, particularly item G11, as well as the guidelines on spam.

If you can indicate why the subject of this article is not blatant advertising, . Clicking that button will take you to the talk page where you will find a pre-formatted place for you to explain why you believe the page should not be deleted. You can also visit the article's talk page directly to give your reasons, but be aware that once tagged for speedy deletion, if the article meets the criterion, it may be deleted without delay. You may freely add information to the article that would confirm the subject's notability under Wikipedia guidelines. Please do not remove the speedy deletion tag yourself, but don't hesitate to add information to the article that would help make it encyclopedic, as well as adding any citations from independent reliable sources to ensure that the article will be verifiable. Feel free to leave a note on my talk page if you have any questions about this.

File source and copyright licensing problem with File:Baby blanket made with flower loom motifs.jpg[edit]

File Copyright problem
File Copyright problem

Thanks for uploading File:Baby blanket made with flower loom motifs.jpg. However, it currently is missing information on its copyright status and its source. Wikipedia takes copyright very seriously.

If you did not create this work entirely yourself, you will need to specify the owner of the copyright. If you obtained it from a website, please add a link to the page from which it was taken, together with a brief restatement of the website's terms of use of its content. If the original copyright holder is a party unaffiliated with the website, that author should also be credited. You will also need to state under what licensing terms it was released. Please refer to the image use policy to learn what files you can or cannot upload on Wikipedia. The page on copyright tags may help you to find the correct tag to use for your file.

Please add this information by editing the image description page. If the necessary information is not added within the next days, the image will be deleted. If the file is already gone, you can still make a request for undeletion and ask for a chance to fix the problem.

Please also check any other files you may have uploaded to make sure they are correctly tagged. Here is a list of your uploads. If you have any questions please ask them at the Media copyright questions page. Thank you. Eeekster (talk) 08:53, 31 December 2011 (UTC)[reply]

A cookie for you![edit]

Thank you for your edits on Eddie Daniels! Ijon (talk) 00:42, 4 September 2013 (UTC)[reply]
Thanks (very belated) for the cookie!
I recognise your real name (how, I hear you ask) and thought you might want to check out the next section on my talk page . . . even if just for its amusement value. Teachalakazi (talk) 04:03, 6 January 2014 (UTC)[reply]

I created a "bad" username and want to get rid of it[edit]

This help request has been answered. If you need more help, place a new {{help me}} request on this page followed by your questions, contact the responding user(s) directly on their user talk page, or consider visiting the Teahouse.

I created a "bad" username. Please help me find a way to "vanish" this spurious identity. I accidentally created a new username by spelling my real username incorrectly. I used it unknowingly for less than a day before discovering my problem. I quickly reverted all the work I did under that name, and therefore don't need it anymore. I don't want to accidentally sign in with it (might happen!), nor do I want my files in commons to be used by others. Teachalakazi (talk) 20:07, 5 January 2014 (UTC)[reply]

I gather the account you refer to is not this one. WP:Courtesy vanishing applies only to people who are leaving Wikipedia permanently. I suggest you apply at WP:CHU from the account concerned asking for it to be renamed to something random. Then simply forget about it - if you like, scramble its password.
Right - this is my "authentic" account; I didn't want to spread the other name about, but I can supply it if necessary to have it "silenced". Your suggestion seems to be the most sensible suggestion of all. Thanks Teachalakazi (talk) 03:44, 6 January 2014 (UTC)[reply]
I don't understand "nor do I want my files in commons to be used by others." When you uploaded them, you irrevocably released them under a free license for anyone to use. You can try applying to have them deleted under whatever is Commons' equivalent to WP:CSD#G7, but they may refuse, particularly if any of them are already in use. JohnCD (talk) 21:11, 5 January 2014 (UTC)[reply]
I understand about the release. I replaced those files (there are only six!) with equivalents, so they are still "released". I checked, and they were not in use at the time I wrote this plea. Teachalakazi (talk) 03:44, 6 January 2014 (UTC)[reply]
I see under commons:Commons:Criteria for speedy deletion#General reasons #7 Author or uploader request deletion that they will only accept uploader request for speedy deletion for files less than 7 days old. You will have to use commons:Commons:Deletion requests. That's quite a simple process (much easier than filing an AfD here) - on the file description page click on "Nominate for deletion" in the toolbox on the left and fill in the reason. JohnCD (talk) 10:48, 6 January 2014 (UTC)[reply]
Thanks for this - it would certainly help. Presumably I'd have to use the "wrong" username. When I did that and checked my uploads, three of the six had vanished!! This is fine. I can't seem to find what to do now; please explain more clearly how and where I do: "on the file description page click on "Nominate for deletion" in the toolbox on the left and fill in the reason." How do I get to the file description page? Teachalakazi (talk) 11:33, 6 January 2014 (UTC)[reply]
Yes, use the account that uploaded the file. You have to be in Commons to make the request. If you click on the image while you are in Wikipedia, it will say below it "This is a file from the Wikimedia Commons. Information from its description page there is shown below." Click on "description page" and you will be taken to the Commons file description page. (A quick way from Wikipedia into Commons is to click any image from the main page and then click "Wikimedia Commons" in the message beneath it). If you are already in Commons, just putting the file name in the search box should take you to the file description page.
Once you are in the Commons file description page, in the left margin there is an entry "Tools"; clicking on that produces a list which includes "Nominate for deletion". JohnCD (talk) 12:08, 6 January 2014 (UTC)[reply]
Thank you so much for holding my hand through this tortuous process! I suspect this is as close to the desired end as I am likely to get. Next step: scramble the password & forget it. Teachalakazi (talk) 15:40, 6 January 2014 (UTC)[reply]
You need not worry at all! Everyone makes mistakes. :)
I never said I was worried. Teachalakazi (talk) 03:44, 6 January 2014 (UTC)[reply]
As per Wikipedia:Legit_sock#Legitimate_uses, your mistakenly made account would still be considered a valid Doppelgänger account, so you're safe. I suggest redirecting both the user page and the talk pages of your mistake account to your current account.
Safety (??) is not a concern. I particularly do not want the redirection. Teachalakazi (talk) 03:44, 6 January 2014 (UTC)[reply]
  • To do this, replace everything at User_talk:Teachalakhazi with #REDIRECT [[User talk:Teachalakazi]] and create a new page at User:Teachalakhazi with only #REDIRECT [[User:Teachalakazi]] as the content.
  • Ask me if you need help doing this and I'd be happy to do it for you :)
Nope, but thanks for the offer! Teachalakazi (talk) 03:44, 6 January 2014 (UTC)[reply]
  • As a last suggestion, I think it's best you change the password of your "bad" username so you wouldnt be able to accidentally login even if you try. That, and make sure to "Login" the next time, not "create a new account."
Waving a dead chicken, here, I see. Thanks for the reminder not to make mistakes. Teachalakazi (talk) 03:44, 6 January 2014 (UTC)[reply]
Hope this helps. Please feel free to ask me again for further help. :)
Thanks for your effort. Teachalakazi (talk) 03:44, 6 January 2014 (UTC)[reply]
