Dan56, I've added some more reviews from the UK press – feel free to edit or delete as you wish. I'm not happy about the position of the 2009 reviews, for instance: I think they're better off going in the ratings table, but there's no room for them there... just out of interest, are you opposed to the use of two tables, for contemporary and legacy reviews?

Two other things: the reception section states that the album was record of the year in "numerous" English publications... well, apart from NME and Melody Maker (where it was joint first, actually), I can't find any other publications where it was the outright winner, so perhaps that word "numerous" needs to go. Also, do you not see "Hell Is Around the Corner" as the album's fifth single? Obviously it wasn't in its original form and formed part of a remix EP, but I still think it's a single from the album, nevertheless. @Richard3120:, great addition of those contemporary reviews! I think the deluxe edition reviews don't add much that hasn't already been said earlier in the section ("the album was unique", "sui generis", etc., albeit in different mealy-mouthed phrases and declarations of praise)... I don't want to have too many quotes reiterating the same things (WP:QUOTEFARM). I revised and rearranged both. Let me know what you think. Q(('}}s 5-stars are represented in the ratings template already, but I would like to substitute Mojo for The Observer. Judging by the Wikipedia articles on those two, I'm given the impression Mojo is/was a more notable publication. I changed "numerous" to "several". What are your sources for the single dates? No problem, I just wanted to make you aware I'd made the changes – I tried to keep them in the style of what had already been written, but I agree with you, I found it difficult to find a suitable place in the text for the 2009 reviews... and yes, there's only so many times you can quote a critic going "it's great" about an album.

Mojo is a monthly music magazine that tends to focus on legacy material, i.e. most of its reviews are about new records from classic artists (Bob Dylan, Neil Young... you get the picture) and reissues of classic records from the past, while the articles tend to be retrospectives about a classic single, album or even tour... very useful for finding material if you're working on records from past decades, particularly rock – the magazine aims at an older readership who aren't really into electronic or dance music. The Observer is the Sunday edition of The Guardian, the UK's main (only?) left-leaning broadsheet newspaper. Nothing wrong with The Observer/The Guardian at all: many of their music critics over the last ten or fifteen years – Jude Rogers, Kitty Empire, Dorian Lynskey, Garry Mulholland, Tim Jonze, and indeed Jon Savage – all started their careers as staff writers for NME or Melody Maker. But I personally think a review from a music magazine carries more weight than a newspaper critic... maybe that's just personal preference.

The release dates for the six singles all come from the weekly "new releases" section of Music Week, which I'm sure you know is the UK's equivalent trade paper to Billboard in the US. They all match up with a UK singles chart entry date of 12 days later according to the OCC database (released on Monday, they would have entered the chart dated w/e the following Saturday), so I am confident that these dates are correct.

There's a couple of other things to add to the article, but they won't change the text that much: sources for the NME and Melody Maker year-end critics' list which placed Maxinquaye at no. 1, and the Rolling Stone critics' list for 1995 which placed the album at no. 3. Also, I found a quote in another Tricky interview about "Suffocated Love", where he says he wanted a song where Martina played "the cruel woman, the bitch" because he likes "playing the weak role... the person who's used" – it seemed an interesting quote in the context of their musical and personal relationships.

Then by all means, those single dates should be worked into the sentence where the months are already mentioned. NME and Melody Maker's are already sourced, so I don't see it as necessary, but definitely Rolling Stone and sure, that quote would be interesting to add. Dan56 (talk) 05:29, 31 July 2016 (UTC)

FAC voluntary mentoring scheme

During a recent lengthy discussion on the WP:FAC talkpage, several ideas were put forward as to how this procedure could be improved, particularly in making it more user-friendly towards first-time nominees. The promotion rate for first-timers at FAC is depressingly low – around 16 percent – which is a cause for concern. To help remedy this, Mike Christie and I, with the co-operation of the FAC coordinators, have devised a voluntary mentoring scheme, in which newcomers will guided by more experienced editors through the stages of preparation and submission of their articles. The general format of the scheme is explained in more detail on Wikipedia: Mentoring for FAC, which also includes a list of editors who have indicated that they are prepared to act as mentors.
