Hi Tejas81,
I hate reverting reverts, and other people reverting mine, so I thought I should leave a note that I'm reverting your reverts of Rockstar1984 and Vaibhavforjoy's edits on the Pune article. While I agree with you that these edits are not a good direction for Pune to head towards, I feel that WP:AGF applies here. We ought to assume that Rockstar and Vaibhav are trying to improve Wikipedia, just like us. I'm going to try and merge their edits instead of reverting them outright. After all, if this fails, all the content you and I have ever written are still available in the histories - so I think it's a safe, revert-able experiment worth making.

- Haven't seen your message yet, but on going through the page, I agree: that paragraph is pretty important, as it sets up the "final chapter" of Pune's pre-independence history. I've put it back in. Tanaji Malusare[edit]
I saw the edits that you made to Tanaji Malusare. I would not dream of questioning an experienced editors actions but during your editing a lot of information was lost which was not repetition, e.g the Ghorpad angle, details of the fort attack and Shivaji's reaction to news of Tanaji's death. - I looked through several biographies of military generals and battles (See Konstantin Rokossovsky and Battle of Kursk). The general format seems to be that in the biography they never mention battle strategies. Hi Tejas,
Saw the election results map that you uploaded for the 2004 election. How do you create something like this? How did you get the boundary details for each constituency?
I want to try to create something similar for the 2009 election, so any information would be appreciated. Thanks.

- Hi Aditya
- I remember you were active during elections, good to see you are active now as well!
- I downloaded the XML shape data (in GIS format) from ECI website: [1], also check out [2] for other election related data, this site seems to have vanished off the front page of ECI.
- HOWEVER I think these shapes are not updated to reflect the massive delimitation changes that were in place during the 2009 election. Which is why I never created the 2009 map - the names of the constituencies themselves had changed, and I was not sure which was which.
- In 2004, the const numbers in the election results data and shape data were consistent, so here's what I did. I wrote some python scripts to read the GIS data and converted it to a SVG file. Then I could add data depending on the constituency, and shade it according to the winning party. Export it to PNG and share.
- That was about it, but let me know if you need more details..

Accordingly, a Tag & Assess 2012 drive-cum-contest has begun from March 01, 2012 to last till May 31, 2012.

Asian 10,000 Challenge invite[edit]
Hi. The Wikipedia:WikiProject Asia/The 10,000 Challenge has recently started, based on the UK/Ireland Wikipedia:The 10,000 Challenge and Wikipedia:WikiProject Africa/The 10,000 Challenge. The idea is not to record every minor edit, but to create a momentum to motivate editors to produce good content improvements and creations and inspire people to work on more countries than they might otherwise work on. There's also the possibility of establishing smaller country or regional challenges for places like South East Asia, Japan/China or India etc, much like Wikipedia:The 1000 Challenge (Nordic). For this to really work we need diversity and exciting content and editors from a broad range of countries regularly contributing. At some stage we hope to run some contests to benefit Asian content, a destubathon perhaps, aimed at reducing the stub count would be a good place to start, based on the current Wikipedia:WikiProject Africa/The Africa Destubathon which has produced near 200 articles in just three days. Re-initiating INCOTM[edit]
It's been almost an year since "Indian collaboration of the month" was active. Firstly we need to restart this as soon as possible for development of India-related articles to greater heights. The members page was blanked, where many of them are inactive. This mass message is to all the members of WikiProject India, about this and interested editors interested will sign up. After this message gets delivered, we'll wait for 7 days before we start a discussion under a thread on the collaboration's talk page, among the members. Supporting Indian Wikipedia Program resource distribution[edit]
In 2017 - 2018, the Wikimedia Foundation and Google working in close coordination with the Centre for Internet and Society (CIS), Wikimedia India chapter (WMIN) and user groups will pilot a program encouraging Wikipedia communities to create locally relevant and high-quality content in Indian languages. This program (Code name: Project Tiger) will:
- (a) Support active and experienced Wikipedia editors through the donation of laptops and stipends for internet access and
- (b) Sponsor a language-based contest that aims to address existing Wikipedia content gaps.
The objective of the program is to provide laptops and internet stipends for existing editors who need support to contribute more actively. 50 basic model Acer Chromebooks and Internet stipends for 100 contributors are available for distribution. Provided resources are the sole property of the beneficiaries and should be used for the betterment of the movement.
If you're an active Wikimedian, and interested to receive support from this project, please apply. It will take around 10 minutes of your time, and will ask descriptive questions about your contribution to Indic Wikimedia projects.

Project Tiger Writing Contest[edit]
In 2017 – 2018, the Wikimedia Foundation and Google working in close coordination with the Centre for Internet and Society (CIS), Wikimedia India Chapter (WMIN) and user groups from India, are piloting a program encouraging Wikipedia communities to create locally relevant and high-quality content in Indian languages. This program will (a) support active and experienced Wikipedia editors through the donation of laptops and stipends for internet access and (b) sponsor a language-based contest that aims to address existing Wikipedia content gaps.
Phase (a) has been completed, during which active contributors were awarded laptops and internet stipends. Phase (b) will be a contest in which editors will come together and develop a writing contest focused on content gaps. Each month three individual prizes will be awarded to each community based on their contribution for the month. The prizes worth 3,000 INR, 2000 INR, and 1,000 INR, will be awarded to the top contributors for each month. The contest started at March 1, 2018, 0:00, and will end at May 31, 2018, 23:59 (IST).
