Information icon Hello, I'm Archer1234. I noticed that you made an edit concerning content related to a living (or recently deceased) person on Don Edwards (cowboy singer), but you didn't support your changes with a citation to a reliable source. It's been removed and archived in the page history for now. Wikipedia has a very strict policy concerning how we write about living people, so please help us keep such articles accurate and clear. If you think I made a mistake, or if you have any questions, you can leave me a message on my talk page. Thank you! Archer1234 (talk) 17:01, 24 October 2022 (UTC)[reply]

@Archer1234 I am writing about a person recently deceased. He passed, per multiple friends last night. Tejas Greg (talk) 17:08, 24 October 2022 (UTC)[reply]
You must cite in the article a published reliable source to verify. If the person recently died, then wait for an obituary or news reports to be published before making the change. There is no hurry. Wikipedia is not a breaking news site. – Archer1234 (talk) 17:11, 24 October 2022 (UTC)[reply]
@Archer1234 good grief. I will, but you could do your own research too who ever you are. Tejas Greg (talk) 17:15, 24 October 2022 (UTC)[reply]
I did do my own research. I used a couple of major search engines to see if there were any reports of his death so I could add at least one and fix your edits. The search engines I used did not reveal any reports. Maybe I'm using the wrong search engines, but I did do some due diligence before reverting your edits. No need to worry. As soon as some reports are published, I am confident the article will be updated accordingly. – Archer1234 (talk) 17:21, 24 October 2022 (UTC)[reply]
@Archer1234 How about this from hospital Wife Kathy posting that he passed at 8:35 PM. "Our family is need of prayers. Tonite at 8:35 I lost the love of my life, my best friend, the most wonderful husband in the world. My beautiful Don has gone to be with his Lord in Heaven. I can’t imagine life without him"? You can also check trhr.com which announced already. Texas Red Hot Radio.
PS I may require help in editing in the proper format. Tejas Greg (talk) 17:26, 24 October 2022 (UTC)[reply]
If that is the Facebook post referred to by the IP user when they added information to the article, please know that typically, Facebook posts are not considered reliable sources, but there are some narrow exceptions where they could be used. If you have a link to the Facebook post, go to Talk:Don_Edwards_(cowboy_singer)#Death_reports and reply with the link so that we can evaluate it. Please do not continue to add information without citing a reliable source. Once we have a reliable source, I am happy to help update the article properly to reflect what is reported. Please be patient. It will be more work to fight to try to try to get it in, then just to wait for a reliable source to publish a report. – Archer1234 (talk) 22:40, 24 October 2022 (UTC)[reply]
@Archer1234 since I know the family, I knew my information. I had more important things to than to attempt to get you to understand. Adios Tejas Greg (talk) 04:22, 25 October 2022 (UTC)[reply]
