Welcome![edit]

Hello, Tennantdm, and welcome to Wikipedia! My name is Shalor and I work with the Wiki Education Foundation; I help support students who are editing as part of a class assignment.

I hope you enjoy editing here. If you haven't already done so, please check out the student training library, which introduces you to editing and Wikipedia's core principles. You may also want to check out the Teahouse, a community of Wikipedia editors dedicated to helping new users. Below are some resources to help you get started editing.

Feedback[edit]

Nice start on your draft. Some things that still need work

  • You need to create a proper lead section. The lead should start with a simple statement of that the Bituminous Coal Operators Association is, and it should include all the major points in the article. It also should not include anything that isn't covered in more depth in the body of the article. Check out pages 7-9 of the Editing Wikipedia brochure for more help on article layout.
  • You need to include properly-formatted inline citations. A list of references at the end of the article isn't sufficient - each statement in the article needs to be directly connected with the supporting source. Revisit the Evaluating Articles and Sources training module if you need more help with citations.
  • Don't include contact information for an organization. You can add a link to their website in the External links section of your article, but don't do more. That kind of information can change, and if someone actually wanted to contact the organization, they should't be relying on information on Wikipedia.
  • You need to make sure that all abbreviations are spelled out the first time they are used - for example UMWA. You need to include links to other Wikipedia articles. The first time you mention a term that might be unfamiliar to the average reader, you should link to the appropriate Wikipedia article (provided one exists).
  • Make sure everything has context. What's the significance of that information on lobbying? Put it in context, make sure it's clear why it's there.
  • Don't refer to figures or tables. Wikipedia articles don't do that. Ian (Wiki Ed) (talk) 15:07, 20 March 2018 (UTC)[reply]

Welcome to Wikipedia! All new articles written by new members are reviewed before being officially listed (and indexed by Google). Congratulations on successfully writing your first article. You will see that I have added several tags indicating areas of the article that could use further review or improvement. If you have questions you can reply here using {{re|Barkeep49}} in your reply to alert me or you may come over to my talk page. I hope you find your time as a Wikipedia editor rewarding and interesting. Best, Barkeep49 (talk) 14:55, 5 April 2018 (UTC)[reply]
