November Esperanza Newsletter

Program Feature: Admin Coaching (needs coaches!)
Admin Coaching needs coaches!!! If you are an administrator, or even a generally experienced user, do consider signing up to be a coach.

Admin Coaching, now being coordinated by HighwayCello, is a program for people who want help learning some of the more subtle aspects of Wikipedia policy and culture. People are matched with experienced users who are willing to offer coaching. The program is designed for people who have figured out the basics of editing articles; they're not newcomers any more, but they might want some help in learning new roles. In this way, Esperanza would help keep hope alive for Wikipedia because we would always be grooming the next generation of admins.

What's New?
The Tutorial Drive is a new Esperanza program! In an effort to make complicated processes on Wikipedia easier for everyone, Esperanza working to create and compile a list of tutorials about processes here on Wikipedia. Consider writing one!
A discussion on how Esperanza relates to the encyclopedia has been started; please add your thoughts.
Many thanks to MiszaBot, courtesy of Misza13, for delivering the newsletter.
  • The list of proposed programs has been updated, with some proposals being archived.
  • There is now a new program: the Tutorial Drive! Consider writing a tutorial on something you are good at doing on Wikipedia.
  • The suggestion of adding a cohesive look to all the Esperanza pages is being considered; join the discussion if you are interested!
  • In order to make a useful interlanguage welcome template, those involved in translation projects will be asked what English Wikipedia policies are most important and confusing to editors coming from other language Wikipedias.
  • A discussion of Esperanza's role in Wikipedia is being held, with all thoughts of all Esperanzians wanted!
  • Shreshth91 informed everyone that he will be leaving the Esperanza council as life is rather busy; his spot will be filled by the runner up from the last election, HighwayCello.
Signed...
Although having the newsletter appear on everyone's userpage is desired, this may not be ideal for everyone. If, in the future, you wish to receive a link to the newsletter, rather than the newsletter itself, you may add yourself to Wikipedia:Esperanza/Newsletter/Opt Out List.

Deadbath sockpuppetry?

I don't understand what you're getting at with the evidence page at Wikipedia:Suspected sock puppets/Deadbath. Are you accusing Deadbath of being a sockpuppet of you? If so, I suggest you re-read WP:SOCK. If not, your evidence page is sorely lacking in useful information. — Saxifrage 01:03, 20 November 2006 (UTC)[reply]

I'm sorry, but having a similar userpage is not grounds for blocking. On the topic of the user's name, it doesn't seem inappropriate to me. Our name-blocking policy covers profane and confusing usernames, not usernames that some people might find offensive. — Saxifrage 02:46, 20 November 2006 (UTC)[reply]
I've blanked Deadbath's userpage and explained why it was a problem. In the future, please refrain from threatening other users with blocking to try to get their attention. Blocking is only ever warranted under specific circumstances as laid out in the Blocking policy. In this case, asking them to fix the offending page would have been the appropriate response. — Saxifrage 02:57, 20 November 2006 (UTC)[reply]

There are 6 international major carriers serving both the world and domestic transcontinental service to the Caribbean and North America flying to their hubs in the United States. There are also other airlines that operate to hubs in their hub internationally. The 6 major U.S. carriers and the North American airlines include:

The six carriers

Continental is a member of the Skyteam alliance. Continental is the brother airline to alliance partner Northwest Airlines and has a sister airline, also its alliance partner, Delta Air Lines, of which had once proposed a merger but never came through.

Northwest is the 4th largest airline in the world in terms of passengers carried.
  • Delta Air Lines is the second largest airline in terms of passengers carried (behind American Airlines) and serving the most destinations in Europe and the EU than any other of the six carriers. Delta perposed a merger with Continental Airlines in the same airline alliance, Skyteam.
  • United Airlines is the third largest airline in terms of passengers carried (behind Delta and American Airlines) and a member of the Star Alliance Network is closely linked to its alliance partner, US Airways.
  • American Airlines (of the AMR Corporation) is the world's largest air carrier, owning in whole the former Trans World Airlines and is a member of the Oneworld airline alliance.

Concordia Newsletter

NEWSLETTER

Concordia is currently trying to relaunch. I, and all the members of the ex-council, wish to welcome new members to the group. We are a group who aim to promote remaining civil, in an environment where messages can easily be interpretated wrongly.

Help out now!

  • Try and help people remain civil! Talk to them, and help them in any way possible. Do not be afraid to use the talk page.
  • Give people the Civility Barnstar.
  • Make and spread some Wikitokens so people know there are people to help if they want assistance.
  • Add banners or logos to your userpage to show your support.
  • Suggest some ideas! Add 'em to the talk page.

We are a community, so can only work though community contributions and support. It's the helping that counts.

Decision Making

The council expired one month ago, but due to the current position of the group the current council will remain until the position of the group can be assessed, and whether it would be sensible to keep Concordia going. For most decisions, however, it will be decided by all who choose to partake in discussions. I am trying to relaunch because of the vast amounts of new members we have received, demonstrating that the aims are supported.

If you wish to opt of of further talk-page communications, just let us know here.

Hey there. I took care of your speedy deletion requests. In the future, {{db-user}} would probably get a quicker response. Cheers! --Brad Beattie (talk) 23:45, 21 January 2007 (UTC)[reply]

Hi! Nice userboxes! I was looking to take your first two and the wireless one and put them on to my page... sorry for my ignorance, but the coding used in your user page is quite confusing to me and I cannot find them. Would you please be able to help me out? Timeshift 14:32, 26 January 2007 (UTC)[reply]

Speedy deletion warning

A tag has been placed on Kensington Bus Company, requesting that it be speedily deleted from Wikipedia. This has been done because the article seems to be about a person, group of people, band, club, company, or web content, but it does not indicate how or why the subject is notable, that is, why an article about that subject should be included in Wikipedia. Under the criteria for speedy deletion, articles that do not assert notability may be deleted at any time. Please see the guidelines for what is generally accepted as notable, and if you can indicate why the subject of this article is notable, you may contest the tagging. To do this, add {{hangon}} on the top of the page (below the existing db tag) and leave a note on the article's talk page explaining your position. Please do not remove the speedy deletion tag yourself, but don't hesitate to add information to the article that would confirm its subject's notability under the guidelines.

For guidelines on specific types of articles, you may want to check out our criteria for biographies, for web sites, for bands, or for companies. Feel free to leave a note on my talk page if you have any questions about this. Pascal.Tesson 22:20, 1 February 2007 (UTC)[reply]
