Is it you? Is it really you?[edit]

I have no idea if you are going to check this page, but it seems as though you have finally taken the plunge and started an actual account. Congratulations!. Wikipedia is the most important online information resourse project. My own opinion is that is not the most complete at this time, but as more and more is added to it, the better it will become. I usually use WP to stear me toward more complete and tactile reference works. You will find as you make contributions and new edits to the project, and as your user account "matures", you will come into contact with other editors whose opinion you will trust. This brings me to the topic of the post you left on my talk page. And when I read your post, my immeadiate response, before I even went to the history page to see where to send this reply, was "its called 'building a concensus..."! You can imagine my delight when I found that you had chosen your user name to coincide exactly with my thoughts! Quite an excellent irony.

Now if the situation were opposite in this case, and four or five other editors were telling me I was wrong, and I were being blocked because I had disregarded protocol... well, it would never have come to this point with me. If the editors at London, Ontario were telling me well "let Consensusbuilder have his way, we're tired of reverting his changes to the article", I would argue, "but the editor is only pushing his POV concerning this, you can't change the article based on this". And I would be right in thinking this and pointing it out to any responsible wikipedian. I mean in the scheme of things, there is much worse vandalism constantly occuring in WP pages. Horrible, slanderous, foul, obscene even. And the editors and admins and bureaucrats are constantly fighting it. Now your everts aren't any of those things, but they are being construed as vandalism. I mean what you were doing as an anonymous user identity. This is your new WP name and address. Clean slate for you as far as I am concerned. Go out, and do good things. Make positive contributions and additions. Try to learn the "lay of the land" so to speak, and learn the rules. Good luck with your editing career, it is very rewarding to contribute to Wikipedia. See you 'round! Hamster Sandwich 04:22, 23 August 2005 (UTC)[reply]

I sent a copy of this to your other account Consensusbuildier. I feel I should mention that it considered bad form and a contradiction of the spirit and the rules of the the WP editing community to use more than a singular account to register an opinion on a particular topic, or to register a vote on any particular issue. The term used for doing so is Sockpuppeting.
It's Socky!.

Its a little light reading for you to do between your edits. I look forward to reading any new articles you contribute here. I really do. My personal feeling is you have the potential to write a helluva good article. So take some more advice, get busy! See you 'round! Hamster Sandwich 04:33, 23 August 2005 (UTC)[reply]
