The user you placed a warning on is still vandalizing pages left and right. I'm not sure how to warn him again or submit him for blocking. Do you know how? Mathewignash (talk) 16:16, 18 November 2007 (UTC)[reply]

I took care of the IP address and had them temporarily banned. Can you specifically tell me what the problem is so that I can fix it?--Jab843 (talk) 03:17, 19 November 2007 (UTC)[reply]

The one with the temporary block.--Jab843 (talk) 03:31, 19 November 2007 (UTC)[reply]

Ah ok so do you think it is vandalism or not? And was it just on that one page? Did you post anything in talk on the said pages?--Jab843 (talk) 03:42, 19 November 2007 (UTC)[reply]

Lol I know, I'm not an admin. I put the request in for that person to get banned. --Jab843 (talk) 03:55, 19 November 2007 (UTC)[reply]

Similar names

[edit]

Hi there! I had a similar reaction when I discovered there's a user on Wikipedia editing under my real-life first name, although for privacy reasons I'd rather not say who that is...

Also, you may be interested to know there's a comics character called Terrax. Any similarity between that name and mine is entirely coincidental. Terraxos (talk) 01:52, 19 November 2007 (UTC)[reply]

Explanation, per [1]

[edit]

The user that has now been blocked is an IP sock of a user who continually vandalizes User:The JPS's talk page, accusing him of certain nasty things. The edit he made to the article is something else he does, which is basically the same accusation. Take a look at JPS's talk page and user page history, you'll see quite a bit of vandalism. That's why the 4th level warn was given. Gscshoyru (talk) 16:32, 20 November 2007 (UTC)[reply]

(EC and a bit more info)
If you really need me to, I'll go through the history of the Christopher Paul Neil article to find many examples of the blatant harassment this user has been involved in surrounding User:The JPS. Here's one of his sockpuppets that I know of off the top of my head. Check the history of User talk:The JPS for more if you want, but be careful if you decide to actually look through the diffs. The images that continue to be used to replace his page wouldn't be considered safe for work. If a final warning wasn't needed, it's simply because I should have reported him after the first edit. --OnoremDil 16:38, 20 November 2007 (UTC)[reply]

Bremsstrahlung radiation

[edit]

From the notification you sent me:

"...at least one of your recent edits, such as the one you made to Bremsstrahlung, did not appear to be constructive and has been reverted or removed...."

The change I made to that article WAS constructive, and was NOT "vandalism" (as your accusation stated in the edit summary). The article defined such radiation as that produced by the acceleration of a charged particle, when in fact it is produced by the deceleration of such particles. So I made the change. Note that the article itself calls Bremsstrahlung radiation "braking radiation" or "deceleration radiation".

Respectfully submitted, 24.6.66.193 (talk) 15:05, 21 November 2007 (UTC)[reply]

RC cleanup

[edit]
  • (Becomes tomato red) Not so fast people, i didn't even recover from blushing from the previous compliment! Well, what can i say? I think: "Thanks a lot for the compliments, and glad to help!" Will fit in here just fine! I love doing this vandalism patrol, and perhaps i will issue an RFA someday. Not yet, since my account has been only 1 month old (Even though i have been around since March 2006 on IP level, but not exactly active). Perhaps some time in the future, when i have encountered more of the wikipedia guidelines. Im still quite green on those, and i want to make sure i know them more thoroughly before i request adminship :) --Excirial (Talk,Contribs) 09:10, 21 November 2007 (UTC)[reply]
  • I reckon it'll be given to you before you request it. Then again, you beat me to almost all of the reverts I've been trying to get my hands on, so maybe you'll beat them to the punch-promotion! Unlike most things on the net where you do something constructive and half the populace disagrees with your actions - at least with this, the ones that disagree are those who's actions you revert, :). Anti vandalism is great stuff, I'm glad to have the opportunity to do this form of voluntary work, and I hope you make strides with it as well! Happy editing! :D (Terra Xin (talk) 14:45, 22 November 2007 (UTC))[reply]
  • How nice to finally have a word with you! I have noticed you several times when being on vandalism patrol, as you beat me to the revert several times. Initially i thought you were a part time reverter, but that idea kind of changed when lupin kept reporting that a revert was issued before me by Terra Xin. It never occurred to me that you might actually be a new colleague! So welcome, Welcome to the wonderful world of Vandalism Patrol :)

Now, as i have been slacking with saying hello for the past few days, im not going to leave with a small message simply saying hello! First of, good job reverting vandalism so far. Its always nice to see other people doing so. Second, i notice that you already managed to find Twinkle to help a bit on your anti-vandalism duty. If you like twinkle, you might also like Lupins anti vandal tool. For me, its the secret to my reversion speed. If you haven't tried it yet, you might want to give it a go

Last, i noticed that your user page states you want a template to make it better. As a little notice in advance, you cant steal mine... Because you have my permission to use it in case you want to (Well, as long as the little "Omega Purple Template - Excirial 2007" bit stays in tact.) In case you would like it, i will have to warn you that it consists of multiple pages that are dynamically included into other pages to create separate sections you can edit. Its pretty easy to adapt actually, but if the sheer amount of HTML would be a problem, feel free to ask for my help any time you want :).

    Well, that's long enough i think, Kind regards, and happy editing :D --Excirial (Talk,Contribs) 15:07, 22 November 2007 (UTC)[reply]

Re: Hi!

[edit]

Re your messages: Thanks. =) And thank you for helping with warning of the user while I was cleaning up the mess.

You were close on the smile. Just copy and paste the {{subst:smile}} into the talk page. =) If you're looking at the wiki markup of this message you want to copy the two sets parenthesis and the subst:smile part and ignore the nowiki parts between the brackets. -- Gogo Dodo (talk) 07:27, 15 May 2008 (UTC)[reply]

User block question

[edit]

There is an anonymous user at 76.125.140.46 who keeps making nonsense edits to Transformers articles. I and several other people keep correcting him and warning him, but he won't stop or even talk to anyone, he just keeps making the edits. What is the next step? Thanks Mathewignash (talk) 22:47, 21 August 2008 (UTC)[reply]

Hi,
You appear to be eligible to vote in the current Arbitration Committee election. The Arbitration Committee is the panel of editors responsible for conducting the Wikipedia arbitration process. It has the authority to enact binding solutions for disputes between editors, primarily related to serious behavioural issues that the community has been unable to resolve. This includes the ability to impose site bans, topic bans, editing restrictions, and other measures needed to maintain our editing environment. The arbitration policy describes the Committee's roles and responsibilities in greater detail. If you wish to participate, you are welcome to review the candidates' statements and submit your choices on the voting page. Invitation to an in-person meetup in Mohua / Golden Bay

[edit]
Golden Bay Air are holding some seats for us until 21 November

Thinking about your summer break? Think about joining other Wikipedians and Wikimedians in Golden Bay / Mohua! Details are on the meetup page. There's heaps of interesting stuff to work on e.g. the oldest extant waka or New Zealand's oldest ongoing legal case. Or you may spend your time taking photos and then upload them.

Golden Bay is hard to get to and the airline flying into Tākaka uses small planes, so we are holding some seats from and to Wellington and we are offering attendees a $200 travel subsidy to help with costs.

Be in touch with Schwede66 if this event interests you and you'd like to discuss logistics. Schwede66 09:14, 13 November 2023 (UTC)[reply]
