FPC comment

Might I ask you reconsider your vote on this FPC? I ask because WP:WIAFP clearly states for requirements 1 and 7 (Be of High Quality, Be Pleasing to the eye) that "The more historically-important an image is, or the rarer its content, the less aesthetically-pleasing it may be." This image is of a 1963 March (clearly impossible to get new content, coupled with the high resolution making it rare) and very historically important as the site of one of the most famous speeches of modern times. If you still feel your vote holds true, that's absolutely your perogative, I just felt I should ask (especially since you wrote it as a weak oppose). Pi Unrolled

You commented on this animated GIF's Featured Picture nomination. I'm considering a redesign to incorporate concerns raised but I need more clarity. Please see User talk:John Reid/Pi/Unrolled#FP?. Thank you. John Reid 08:43, 27 August 2006 (UTC)

I recently cranked out a new and greatly improved version of Pi-unrolled.gif and (why not?) nominated it for FP. Since you commented on the nomination of the previous version of the same graphic, I'd like to invite you to comment on the new nomination. Thank you. John Reid 04:28, 6 October 2006 (UTC)
Thanks for your revert, that was certainly a bit embarrassing. Didn't notice the closure due to all the clutter I suppose. Scoo 11:27, 26 October 2006 (UTC)

Sorry

Sorry that was a mistake. But you could make that? I can really no English and do not know therefore not how. Sorry again cele4 16:48, 28 September 2006 (UTC)

Re FPC of HistMac.gif, I found out about the picture nomination by random wikisurfing! I think I've made comments that illuminate certain dark aspects regarding this picture and would like you to evaluate them and respond here. Thanks! •NikoSilver 11:42, 6 November 2006 (UTC)

MOTTO

Thanks for the reminder Tewy, you're a great help. I fixed up those five – two of which I'd already promoted but had forgotten to stick the 'Approved' tag on. I've redirected the pages etc, added new headings. No wonder I missed a few things yesterday – I was editing various things to do with MOTTO for over four hours. Staring at lines of code trying to detect where a new section starts is hard when your eyes begin to swim – after a while I just searched for (UTC) with a couple of = marks. Hopefully now I've done that and put a notice on CBB some others will come to help us. Concerning Tabled for Discussion: I was getting tired, neither of the mottos had reached a conclusion about what they were meant to say, and I honestly didn't think either of them were that great. Like it says: re-nominate them if you want to – now the page is a lot more organised, tidy and calm you'll probably get a better response. Anyway, thanks for giving me those tips, see you around. —Vanderdeckenξφ 10:18, 21 December 2006 (UTC)

Just to let you know that the Featured Picture File:Iran saffron threads.jpg is due to make an appearance as Picture of the Day on April 9, 2007. If you get a chance, you can check and improve the caption at Template:POTD/2007-04-09. howcheng {chat} 16:35, 13 March 2007 (UTC)

Walnut pictures

Thanks for your help Tewy, but I'm having a problem. You see, I get the image right every time with the adjusted aperture, but there is too much grain in the background. Does this have anything to do with the lighting? It's 8:00, and reletively dark here; should I wait until morning? | AndonicO Talk | Sign Here 00:55, 30 December 2006 (UTC)

Never mind, I've got it right now. | AndonicO Talk | Sign Here 01:33, 30 December 2006 (UTC)

Thanks for helping me and giving me tips! It wouldn't have been featured if it wasn't for you. | AndonicO Talk | Sign Here 19:30, 8 January 2007 (UTC)

No, I mean without your tips, I wouldn't have searched the manual for what "aperture" meant, and how to change it. :-) | AndonicO Talk | Sign Here 20:09, 8 January 2007 (UTC)

Oh, thank you then. :-) I still stress the fact that you helped me from over a mile away (I think). | AndonicO Talk | Sign Here 20:14, 8 January 2007 (UTC)

My reply as ?

I'm not sure i understand what you mean by "What you said". Simply south 13:23, 30 December 2006 (UTC)

You might want to reword your comment. It comes off as extremely WP:BITEing, but it's not far enough over the line for me to remove your words myself. Please try to WP:AGF and not treat her like an impersonator off the bat. Night Gyr (talk/Oy) 04:27, 4 January 2007 (UTC)

  • Yes, I didn't research the matter fully before commenting. I've already apologized, and I will reword my comment as well. --Tewy 04:31, 4 January 2007 (UTC)
    • Sure, I have no objections to editing comments. I think it's good form to acknowledge the removal of words, though. I'd say something like "hasty words removed" or (rephrased) or something. Night Gyr (talk/Oy) 04:48, 4 January 2007 (UTC)`

My Babel template

Because I feel that I need two levels each to describe my familiarity with each of the 2 languages. Until I was 11, I spoke Vietnamese exclusively, so I am a "native speaker", but my Vietnamese skills are understandably no better than a fifth-grader. Conversely, I had no exposure to English until I was 11, so I don't consider myself a "native speaker", but all my education since then are in English and I use it in my personal and professional life. Thus I consider myself more fluent in English than most English speakers. DHN 02:23, 6 January 2007 (UTC)

BTW, how did you find me? DHN 02:48, 6 January 2007 (UTC)
What a pleasant surprise :-), I didn't know it's being used in a widely-used template. DHN 02:57, 6 January 2007 (UTC)

Schedule page formatting

Thanks for changing the link formats on the MOTD scedule page – I was abgout to resign myself to having to undertake that arduous task myself. Looks a lot neater now, and the links/tables actually work... —Vanderdeckenξφ 10:12, 9 January 2007 (UTC)

Motto of the Day Schedule

Hello. I would like to notify you that there is no motto of the day for April 1. Happy editing! S.D. ¿п? § 00:31, 20 January 2007 (UTC)

Yes, that was intentional. I just never got around to leaving a note on the discussion page. I'll do that now. --Tewy 00:34, 20 January 2007 (UTC)
Ahh...April Fool's Day! Sorry for not noticing. Cheers! S.D. ¿п? § 00:37, 20 January 2007 (UTC)

Mottos

I saw your mottos and thought that they vaguely weren't bad, so i added them. Should i remove them? They were:

This is a great original motto!

I think this pretty much exemplifies what a great motto is... --Tewy 02:04, 12 February 2007 (UTC)

Or should i remove these? —The preceding unsigned comment was added by Simply south (talkcontribs).

Ok, ok. I was half joking. I think the last two mottos actually have a chance, seriously, although the links on the last one need to change to something more significant. Simply south 20:47, 12 February 2007 (UTC)

I can't glance at any one section at MOTD without seeing your name. Without your help, MOTD would surely fail. Keep up the great work! --Cremepuff222 (talk, review me!) 02:20, 20 March 2007 (UTC)
I know how you feel. I just spent who knows how long moving about forty mottoes from Wikipedia:Motto of the day/Approved (which I see has filled back up again) to the schedule page. --Cremepuff222 (talk, review me!) 02:27, 20 March 2007 (UTC)

'Nuther one for you.

The Working Man's Barnstar
For your hard work over at WP:MOTTO, I hereby award you this. You create mottos (which are outstanding, btw), archive them, make improvements to them, reject/approve them, and more. Oh my gosh, don't get me started on your work at WP:FPC... Well, you understand what I'm saying (right?). Peace, Tohru Honda13 22:31, 20 March 2007 (UTC)
Oh, but of course! I've been handing out barnstars to other users (at random). I didn't notice that Creampuff gave you a working man's b-star; I just clicked the "+" at the top of the talk page. And you're welcome! Peace, Tohru Honda13 22:45, 20 March 2007 (UTC)
