Spelling[edit]

Wikipedia has a long standing rule that articles use the most appropriate version of English for that article, including spelling, units of measurement etc. Please review all of your recent changes; most if not all need to be corrected back to the previous version. --Pete

Spelling[edit]

I see I'm not the first to alert you to this issue. One of Wikipedia's rules is that articles specific to a particular nation should be written in the national dialect as far as possible - e.g., American English for an article about George W. Bush but British English for Tony Blair.

I have reversed your edits for Trials since the 2000 Fijian coup d'état. As a former British colony, Fiji follows a particularly conservative version of British English - many of the innovations accepted in Britain itself over the last 30 years have not been accepted in Fiji. Please respect this rule of Wikipedia. It concerns me that this is not the first time somebody has had to speak to you about this issue. David Cannon 11:32, 29 January 2007 (UTC)[reply]

Looking at your response, I am concerned that you have not made the corrections requested. They will have to be done, and the longer the time, the more intervening edits and the more difficult the task. It is not fair to make changes against policy and then expect others to clean up after you, once you accept the error.
I'll accept that you made the spelling changes in good faith, and you are to be applauded for your desire to help tidy up. But issues of spelling, units of measurement, date formats and so on have caused enormous friction over the years, and we need to be aware of the guidelines worked out to handle such issues. --Pete 00:03, 30 January 2007 (UTC)[reply]
