You're back!

Hello, TheImaCow,

I noticed that you had been gone for a while but it looks like you are back to active editing. Welcome back! Liz Read! Talk! 05:50, 25 September 2021 (UTC)

Thank you! I have some time again. Let's see how long this will last. --TheImaCow (talk) 06:34, 25 September 2021 (UTC)

Whiskey Ring (1871-1875).jpg

Hello. I believe the original map was a print-free generic free-to-use open-sourced image. I can't find the original map photo. Cmguy777 (talk) 18:00, 25 September 2021 (UTC)

Okay, this makes sense. However, this isn't the only problem with the file. The file is also an borderline case of the WP:F11 deletion criterion. What does "Charles Morrow copyright" mean, are you that person? If yes, everything is fine and i will move the file to commons. --TheImaCow (talk) 18:37, 25 September 2021 (UTC)

Hello, again, TheImaCow,

Thank you for catching this and tagging the page for deletion. Just a reminder, please post a notice on the talk page of the editor so they know that this kind of editing is inappropriate. If you use Twinkle and set up your Preferences to "Notify page creator" and also make sure all of the CSD boxes are checked, Twinkle should post the notification for you. Thanks again! I hope you are well. Liz Read! Talk! 20:12, 20 November 2021 (UTC)

Hmm, okay. I intentionally unchecked the notification checkbox here, because of Wikipedia:Deny recognition. I am sure that the creators of these pages know exactly that such creations are not wanted here. So i tag the nonsense to delete, and an admin comes by, deletes it and end of the story. I have noticed several times that under such "Speedy deletion nomination of XXXX" messages even more insults were made by the creators of these pages - under the message itself and on new attack pages (towards the nominator). But okay, if someone creates such a page, I will send such a message, but only on the first created vandalism page. If this message does not stop the creator, further messages will have the exact opposite effect, as the vandals will feel provoked. --TheImaCow (talk) 20:30, 20 November 2021 (UTC)

Hi TheImaCow, was reading Wikipedia:Tag bombing and saw this image, the add-on/gadget above the Wikipedia:Shortdesc helper gadget looks really cool, but I can't seem to find it anywhere, how do I get it? Justiyaya 13:49, 22 November 2021 (UTC)

User:Justiyaya: Oh, that's the "XTools"-Gadget. You can find it under Special:Preferences#mw-prefsection-gadgets > Appearance > XTools: dynamically show statistics about a page's history under the page heading. Very useful! --TheImaCow (talk) 14:01, 22 November 2021 (UTC)

removed unsourced material

Hello Sir, I was deleting material from the page Akashaditya Lama which had no references and citation. No sources at all to verify authenticity It was more of hyped advertisement of this person. Wikipedia needs authentic data of notable persons. I have only tried to remove such information. Please guide me if I am wrong. — Preceding unsigned comment added by Chhedafilms (talkcontribs) 18:17, 24 November 2021 (UTC)

Yes, the part you removed had no supporting citations, however, removing the entire part is not appropriate. Something that has no references is usually only removed if it is something negative or controversial about the topic, or if you know for sure that it is wrong. But you removed the section only on principle "because it has no references". If you know for sure it's all wrong, then of course it can be removed, but that's not how you said it. By the way, I don't see how the content you want to remove is promotional.--TheImaCow (talk) 19:51, 24 November 2021 (UTC)

Thank you once again for your comments. There is no reliable source for the information I removed. Sorry may be I could not convey it properly. There is no authenticity to the material and seemed that it was added by a paid editor as an advertisement. Please guide further.Chhedafilms (talk) 02:49, 25 November 2021 (UTC)

"Vandalism"

This edit [1] by an IP is a good faith (but incorrect) edit. "Gioco" is the modern Italian spelling, however in the context of modern English language chess literature the old-fashioned spelling "Giuoco" is used. MaxBrowne2 (talk) 00:00, 25 November 2021 (UTC)

Your revert on "Hunter Wise Financial Group" page

You reverted my edit of the Hunter Wise Financial Group wherein I quoted from the CFTC (Commodity Futures Trading Commission) announcing the conviction of Hunter Wise and two individuals. Do you even know what the Commodity Futures Trading Commission is??? It is a part of the U.S. government, established to police the commodity markets and prosecute those who violate commodity laws - in this case swindling the public through fraudulent sales of non-existent precious metals and other commodities. The public is free to quote government press releases of prosecutions. The U.S. government does not sit there and claim copyright like a private company or individual does. I think you probably don't know what the CFTC is, and have probably never even heard of it. It is here:

https://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Commodity_Futures_Trading_Commission

If I do not hear from you, or you do not answer this, I am going to revert your revert. I looked at your history of edits, and it appears that you do revert after revert after revert after revert of quotes and other similar things. I do not see how you can be knowledgeable of such a huge range of topics, and figure that is how you ended up reverting the quote from the CFTC press release on the conviction of Hunter Wise and two individuals. Thank you.EricSavage (talk) 21:30, 3 December 2021 (UTC)

I just looked further at the message you put on the top of the Hunter Wise page. I did NOT quote from the Futures Magazine link that you posted. I posted from the original CFTC link:

https://www.cftc.gov/PressRoom/PressReleases/6935-14

That Futures magazine page that you erroneously claimed that I quoted from, ITSELF quotes from the CFTC government prosecution press release. Please reverse the revert you made. Thank you.EricSavage (talk) 21:37, 3 December 2021 (UTC)

User:EricSavage: Yes, you are right. I didn't notice that the text was actually from the government. I will pay more attention to such things in the future and I have reverted my edits [2]. Thanks for letting me know. --TheImaCow (talk) 06:09, 4 December 2021 (UTC)

You Reverted Native Design's Page

Could you please provide specificity as to why you flagged the Native Design page and reverted its material? None of the information that I added was promotional nor an advertisement, but factual and accurate information about the company. This will help inform exact type of factual content that can remain or be considered promotional. — Preceding unsigned comment added by Meat and potatoez (talkcontribs)

No, it is full of promotional wording. A few examples:
  • independent full-service
  • awarded for developing innovative products
  • offers a full-service innovation practice
  • that reimagined transportation choice and business models
  • In 2012 the world's third largest broadcasting corporation, BBC, worked with Native
  • worked with Native to release a range of world-firsts in digital
...and many more. This definitly needs rewording. --TheImaCow (talk) 19:33, 8 December 2021 (UTC)

Delete Request for Shining Glorious School

Why are you deleting request for this page rahulpaal (talk) 09:46, 12 December 2021 (UTC)

Because you copied the text from another site. The text was was protected by copyright, and as such, it would be illegal for Wikipedia to use it. See WP:COPYVIO. --TheImaCow (talk) 13:46, 12 December 2021 (UTC)

Rollback

Hi TheImaCow. After reviewing your request, I have enabled rollback on your account. Keep in mind these things when using rollback:

  • Getting rollback is no more momentous than installing Twinkle.
  • Rollback should be used to revert clear cases of vandalism only, and not good faith edits.
  • Rollback should never be used to edit war.
  • If abused, rollback rights can be revoked.
  • Use common sense.

If you no longer want rollback, contact me and I'll remove it. Also, for some more information on how to use rollback, see Wikipedia:Administrators' guide/Rollback (even though you're not an admin). I'm sure you'll do great with rollback, but feel free to leave me a message on my talk page if you run into trouble or have any questions about appropriate/inappropriate use of rollback. Thank you for helping to reduce vandalism. Happy editing! FASTILY 00:41, 16 December 2021 (UTC)

At Talk:Hedge and Donna, you changed living=yes to living=no, even though one of the two people in the duo is still living. I don't know if your bot needs tweaking to avoid this happening in future. Ghmyrtle (talk) 14:58, 16 December 2021 (UTC)

Hi. The edit you just reverted on Hans Niemann was not a test. It's a personal attack in Spanish. (I always make a habit of translating whatever I come across on Wikipedia, to make sure it's not just something that's 'not in English'.)

However, thank you for reverting non-constructive edits! --67.183.139.157 (talk) — Preceding undated comment added 18:18, 18 December 2021 (UTC)

re: Rental Management Software page

In the Example Software section of the Rental Management Software page, you rejected our edit, saying it's inappropriate for a wiki page. While I understand the concept of not wanting "Example software" to be used as an exhaustive list of businesses associated with this (or to be used as a promotional tool by companies), it seems questionable to allow other companies to use it as such, especially when said companies aren't as relevant to the rest of the wiki (there are a couple of car rental software products; the rest of the wiki is related more to the equipment and event rental industries). — Preceding unsigned comment added by 12.16.77.110 (talk) 17:32, 22 December 2021 (UTC)

Hello!

Hi, TheImaCow,

I just saw your name on the page history of a draft article I was looking at and realized that I used to run into your work all of the time and it's been quite a while since I've seen you active. I hope you are well. I hope when you find the time and interest, you might return to the solid patrolling you used to do. We can use every competent editor we have these days! Take care, Liz Read! Removing links to "deleted pages" that were never deleted

Hi!

Sorry to be late on this, but I just noticed these edits from March of last year. I don't mind manually reverting these 43 edits (per the result of the then-already-closed AFD), but I'm a bit concerned that:

  • (i) you seem to have made hundreds if not thousands of similar edits within the same time period;
  • (ii) your edit summaries didn't link the supposedly-deleted articles, meaning each one needs to be manually checked; and
  • (iii) no one seems to have talked to you, at least on this page, about the matter in March or April 2021 (forgive me if my check was not thorough enough).

It's okay in my book as long as you're not doing it anymore, but I kinda wanted to hear from the horse's mouth that you did indeed stop because you realized the mistake.
