New name[edit]

So you changed your handle. Congratulations. But why did you have to pick one so damn lame? Rock out. --Cuchullain 22:31, 11 December 2005 (UTC)[reply]

As far as I know, you can't. Ask your welcome committe guy or an administrator.--Cuchullain 22:36, 11 December 2005 (UTC)[reply]

Man, that sucks more than I thought--Cuchullain 22:37, 11 December 2005 (UTC).[reply]

Doug, if you could, edit the Manx English article according to Wikipedia:Guide to layout and the Wikipedia:Manual of Style, or put a wikify or cleanup tag on it. Otherwise people are likely to rip it apart.--Cuchullain 05:07, 12 December 2005 (UTC)[reply]

UNF User box[edit]

Hey Doug, I added 2 new userboxes to your page for when you get back from your trip. I created the UNF one, that's how awesome I am. Anyway, I'll talk to ya later, I doubt you'll get this till you get back from Europe.--Cúchullain t/c 19:06, 9 April 2006 (UTC)[reply]

Check it out[edit]

Hi Bill, Doug here. Was just browsing and noticed that Plotinus is a page protected from vandalism!!! Presumably by modern Gnostic and Neoplatonists... Anyway, thought I'd say hi in your own milieu. TheLateDentarthurdent 19:57, 17 April 2006 (UTC)[reply]

Yeah, I seem to recall there's some dude with very strong opinions about Neoplatonism, Gnosticism and Plotinus. I don't know what his opinions are exactly, because his explanations on the talk page are really, really long. What did you think of my new University of North Florida userbox?--Cúchullain t/c 20:40, 17 April 2006 (UTC)[reply]

Cleanup Template[edit]

My bot, Alphachimpbot, has just modified some of your cleanup templates. {{Cleanup|MONTH YEAR}} is not a valid template. Use {{Cleanup-date|MONTH YEAR}} instead. Just figured that I would tell you. --Alphachimp talk 17:02, 25 June 2006 (UTC)[reply]

Thoth[edit]

Hey Doug, per your suggestion I moved Dje... whatever back to Thoth. As you said, it's way more familiar. Cheers!--Cúchullain t/c 04:18, 12 July 2006 (UTC)[reply]

Shining Path[edit]

Doug, could you take a look at something for me? Descendall translated a quote for the Shining Path page, but he wants a second opinion about it. You can see it towards the bottom of the talk page here.--Cúchullain t/c 22:30, 24 September 2006 (UTC)[reply]

Joe Simpson (manager)[edit]

I see you added a line to this article that says:

May I ask how you know this? I checked the lyrics of the song and there' no "Joe Simpson" in them.[2] While it's possible to imagine that they are talking about this guy, we can't actually say that's what they mean unless we have some more proof. The article What Goes Down Must Come Up has been proposed for deletion because of the following concern:

A search for sources for this article reveals an insufficient amount of reliable coverage. This television episode fails Wikipedia's notability guidelines.

While all contributions to Wikipedia are appreciated, content or articles may be deleted for any of several reasons.

You may prevent the proposed deletion by removing the {{proposed deletion/dated}} notice, but please explain why in your edit summary or on the article's talk page.

Please consider improving the article to address the issues raised. Removing {{proposed deletion/dated}} will stop the proposed deletion process, but other deletion processes exist. The speedy deletion process can result in deletion without discussion, and articles for deletion allows discussion to reach consensus for deletion. Neelix (talk) 19:34, 10 May 2011 (UTC)[reply]

Research survey invitation[edit]

Greetings TheLateDentarthurdent-

My name is Randall Livingstone, and I am a doctoral student at the University of Oregon, studying digital media and online community. I am posting to invite you to participate in my research study exploring the work of Wikipedia editors who are members of WikiProject: Countering Systemic Bias. The online survey should take 20 to 25 minutes to complete and can be found here:

https://oregon.qualtrics.com/SE/?SID=SV_cSHzuwaQovaZ6ss

Your responses will help online communication researchers like me to better understand the collaborations, challenges, and purposeful work of Wikipedia editors like you. In addition, at the end of the survey you will have the opportunity to express your interest in a follow-up online interview with the researcher.

This research project has been reviewed and approved by the Wikimedia Research Committee as well as the Office for Protection of Human Subjects at the University of Oregon. For a detailed description of the project, please visit its Meta page. This survey is voluntary, and your confidentiality will be protected. You will have the choice of using your Wikipedia User Name during the research or creating a unique pseudonym. You may skip any question you choose, and you may withdraw at any time. By completing the survey, you are providing consent to participate in the research.

If you have any questions about the study, please contact me via my Talk Page (UOJComm) or via email. My faculty advisor is Dr. Ryan Light. If you have any questions regarding your rights as a research participant, please contact the Office for Protection of Human Subjects at the University of Oregon.

Thank you very much.

Sincerely,

Randall Livingstone School of Journalism & Communication University of Oregon UOJComm (talk) 18:40, 22 June 2011 (UTC)[reply]

Can you comment on your reason for removing Fyodorov's picture? The Russian article is much better than the English one, and it does include Fyodorov's picture. You can easily see that the picture is there even if you don't read Russian. Thanks, EdJohnston (talk) 19:24, 28 July 2011 (UTC)[reply]

Hi. When you recently edited Almucantar, you added a link pointing to the disambiguation page Reichenau (check to confirm | fix with Dab solver). Hello, I'm BracketBot. I have automatically detected that your edit to List of Nobel laureates in Literature may have broken the syntax by modifying 1 "()"s. If you have, don't worry: just edit the page again to fix it. If I misunderstood what happened, or if you have any questions, you can leave a message on my operator's talk page.

Hi,
You appear to be eligible to vote in the current Arbitration Committee election. The Arbitration Committee is the panel of editors responsible for conducting the Wikipedia arbitration process. It has the authority to enact binding solutions for disputes between editors, primarily related to serious behavioural issues that the community has been unable to resolve. This includes the ability to impose site bans, topic bans, editing restrictions, and other measures needed to maintain our editing environment. The arbitration policy describes the Committee's roles and responsibilities in greater detail. If you wish to participate, you are welcome to review the candidates' statements and submit your choices on the voting page. Menkaure[edit]

Dear TheLateDentarthurdent, I have seen your September edit to Menkaure's article, where you added his name in hieroglyph, transliteration and translation. I would like to thank you for this well-meaning addition, however I had to remove it because this information is already in the article. I realise you might not have seen it (which is due to a problem with the design of the infobox). To see this information plus the other names of Menkaure in hieroglyphs, transliteration and translations, click on the [show] button on the right of "Royal Titulary" in the infobox. Voila!! This will work in all pharaoh articles, so you can now browse their names at will! Have fun! Iry-Hor (talk) 17:54, 4 January 2018 (UTC)[reply]

ǀXam language vowels[edit]

ǀXam language vowels
TheLateDentarthurdent hello, I just wanted to ask you about your edit on the ǀXam language. I see the consonants section, but can you also put the vowels? Do you still have the source that you got the info from? I know it was "The Khoesan Languages" by Rainer Vossen. If you could just find the source, then add a vowels section on the ǀXam language page, that would be great. Thanks, Fdomanico51997 Fdomanico51997 (talk) 03:32, 24 June 2018 (UTC)[reply]

Pronunciation of ankh[edit]

Hello. I've been looking over the ankh article recently in hopes of rewriting it, and I saw that you added a reconstruction of the word's pronunciation in this edit. I can't find a reference to the pronunciation of the word on the page of Allen 2013 that you added as a source to that sentence. I can't access the relevant page of Gardiner 1957 that was already in place as a source for that sentence. Do you remember where you found this reconstruction? The consonants are straightforward, but, as always with Egyptian, the vowels are harder to reconstruct. A. Parrot (talk) 01:25, 9 August 2018 (UTC)[reply]

User pig[edit]

Just a reminder that per WP:REDNOT you should never have red links to categories, so if you add language boxes to your user page, you should create any language categories that are needed ({{Category User iso-n}} is all that's required). Also, can I just check that you realise that pig is the ISO639 language code for the Pisabo language of Peru, and not eg pig Latin? Back in 2007 there was a consensus against User pig because of that confusion and the rarity of Pisabo, I've created the parent category in case you really did mean Pisabo, but not Category:User pig-3 as yet. Le Deluge (talk) 22:55, 4 March 2021 (UTC)[reply]

Haha. No, I didn't mean Pisabo. I added that language tag as a joke many, many years ago when it did work for Pig Latin. I don't keep up my user page very well. TheLateDentarthurdent (talk) 15:09, 8 April 2021 (UTC)[reply]
