Joseph Ndo

Hi thanks for your well intentioned edits to Joseph Ndo’s page, however as I wrote his name is frequently wrongly spelled, in the media. Can you please revert the spelling. I am the director and editor of the show Blessed that I referred to on YouTube that Joseph presents and coproduces with me. He has confirmed the spelling of his own name Ndo for both our show and for the Wikipedia page. Thanks Bnational (talk) 17:28, 31 March 2018 (UTC)

Hi there, please view my response on @Oshwah:'s talk page (click link). As I stated there, unless you have reliable independent sources to back up the claim, the it is best to leave it the way it is now. As for you being the producer, that is near impossible to prove and would also put you in a conflict of interest, so I would strongly advise requesting the edit on the talk page of the article and using the template {{edit request}} (include reliable sources in request please. --TheSandDoctor Talk 22:27, 31 March 2018 (UTC)

Thanks - I’m new to Wikipedia and we just wanted to get the spelling correct for once. Btw the show is produced with no budget so I don’t know if this still constitutes a conflict of interest since there is no financial incentive. Bnational (talk) 23:36, 31 March 2018 (UTC)

@Bnational: A conflict of interest doesn't just have to be being paid. Your position as producer could be seen as a conflict of interest with both Joseph and the show (were the latter to have an article). As described on the COI info page that I linked, a conflict of interest "involves contributing to Wikipedia about yourself, family, friends, clients, employers, or your financial and other relationships." Please note, however, that in stating that you have a potential conflict of interest (regardless of money not exchanging hands), is by no means a judgement on your integrity or opinion.
Fifa appears to spell the name both ways oddly enough. At this point I would consider it unclear as to which spelling is the correct one. I would strongly recommend requesting the edit and providing reliable source(s) that state the fact that the name is commonly misspelled and the correct spelling. In this situation, I would normally create a redirect with the alternative punctuation (based on the FIFA source and one other I saw using it), but a redirect from "Joseph Ndo" was created in 2012 when the page was moved from that title to its current one by Faycal.09.
I am glad that you opened a discussion about this on the article talk page. Hopefully some consensus on which way it should be spelled can be established.
If you have any questions about Wikipedia or regarding this, please do not hesitate to ask. --TheSandDoctor Talk 01:44, 1 April 2018 (UTC)

@Headbomb: You are correct, not sure how I didn't notice that. Mind is all over the place with finals I guess (start tomorrow). That said, I still agree with the close though. --TheSandDoctor Talk 02:55, 13 April 2018 (UTC)

That's one hell of a big cookie you got there :)

On that page; sorry to butt in, but if I hadn't removed it someone would have. Just hoping you can use an example image like that cookie or the kitten in your page notice. I hope your experiments work out. --Hammersoft (talk) 13:40, 17 April 2018 (UTC)

@Hammersoft: No problem, thank you for removing it. I had earlier, but that was for a different test and forgot to do it again, so my apologies. Thanks for the wishes, I hope the test for the bot works out as well. --TheSandDoctor Talk 15:11, 17 April 2018 (UTC)
Image replaced. Also, thanks for the complement on the cookie. I am not a personal fan of chocolate chip cookies (more of an oatmeal raisin fan myself), but thought it got the point across --TheSandDoctor Talk 15:12, 17 April 2018 (UTC)

Kindly let me know how to get this actor page approve

Hi, i have included all South India Kannada News Papers, So kindly let me know how to get this actor page approve, what more information is required. — Preceding unsigned comment added by Mohanprabhus (talkcontribs) 06:47, 11 April 2018 (UTC)

Hi there Mohanprabhus, sorry for the late response. Sources need to discuss the subject (in this case, Anil Siddhu) in detail and demonstrate notability to satisfy our biographies of living persons policy. Please see the {{citation needed}} templates that I have placed on the page for a starting point. Please keep me posted. --TheSandDoctor Talk 03:25, 20 April 2018 (UTC)

Draft:Upendra Ananth Pai

Wiki deepti (talk) 10:35, 12 April 2018 (UTC)Hi, TheSandDoctor The page in question has been created for a person of historical importance in Manipal, India. Not much references are available online but he is certainly notable. can you tell how can this page still be published. I wish to link this page to a future page which I am planning to build.

Hi there Wiki deepti, my apologies for not responding sooner, I did not see your message until now. Offline references are totally okay to add to pages. The relevant notability guideline might be worth keeping in mind when creating bios. What sort of a page? --TheSandDoctor Talk 03:25, 20 April 2018 (UTC)
Reliable and independent sources are also required as primary sources tend not to indicate notability. --TheSandDoctor Talk 03:30, 20 April 2018 (UTC)

Sources for MCWSTP

Sand doctor,

The sources I used are the only sources that can be used as they are the sources that created the program. Can you help me out with what other source may be used? Thanks in advance.

Morletga — Preceding unsigned comment added by Morletga (talkcontribs) 10:12, 25 April 2018 (UTC)

Hi there Morletga, thank you for reaching out. In order to demonstrate notability, independent reliable sources are needed. As I stated in the declination comment on the draft, it would be a good idea to read through this guide to referencing on Wikipedia and per the external links policy, external links should either be used as references (see WP:REFB) or be in their own "external links" style section, rather than throughout the body of the draft/article. If you have any questions, please feel free to let me know. --TheSandDoctor Talk 15:43, 25 April 2018 (UTC)

Draft:Nerf Dog

Per your question (via email) on Draft:Nerf Dog and the user. No idea. Does not ring a bell at the moment. -- Alexf(talk) 20:14, 25 April 2018 (UTC)

Help

Hi there,

My wiki page has been declined a few times now because of sources, I listed six before and cut it down to three thinking that maybe only reviews should be left but yet again it has been declined.

I can find sources showing concerts that the band are playing, reviews, all social media, plus where their records are sold but still this doesn't seem to be enough.

What other options do I have?

Thanks

Allan — Preceding unsigned comment added by Felix4414 (talkcontribs) 20:24, 25 April 2018 (UTC)

Hi Allan (@Felix4414:), bands need to satisfy the notability guideline for "musicians and ensembles". Including multiple independent reviews from reliable sources (or just reliable sources in general) would definitely be a good start. This guide for writing your first article might also be worth a look, as would this guide for referencing. If you have any questions, please feel free to let me know. --TheSandDoctor Talk 20:35, 25 April 2018 (UTC)

Ungar Laszlo Radical Gynecologist Oncologist Surgeon.

Since I am struggling with this article but cannot seems to find the right way to reference it, can you please tell me what are the sections most needed a reference so I can remove it or find some for it....

Thank you — Preceding unsigned comment added by Gabiharan (talkcontribs) 14:03, 25 April 2018 (UTC)

Hi there Gabiharan, sorry for the delay. I would recommend taking a look at the [citation needed] tags on the draft. They would be a good place to start. This guide to referencing and this guide to writing your first article might also be useful reads. Please do let me know if you have any questions. --TheSandDoctor Talk 22:39, 26 April 2018 (UTC)

Decline of NetSim page

Hello Sanddoctor, you declined my submission of NetSim page saying the sources aren't reliable. The sources I have mentioned are Indian Institute of Science & Indian Institute of Technology, which are the amongst the top 5 educational institutions in India. Additional sources include publishing house Pearson and IEEE - a well-known standards body. Hence I request you to re-consider.

Lady-Phoenix (talk) 02:57, 26 April 2018 (UTC)

Hi there Lady-Phoenix, unreliable sources was not the reason for declination (see the blue comment in the message left on your talk page or the comment underneath the "resubmit" button on the draft itself), I requested additional independent reliable sources. I did not mean to imply that any sourcing within the draft was unreliable, just that independent reliable sources are needed in order to demonstrate notability (in this case, independent from Tetcos, the Indian Institute of Science, and Indian Institute of Technology Madras) and that the draft could benefit from more of them if possible.
If you have any questions, please do let me know. --TheSandDoctor Talk 03:57, 26 April 2018 (UTC)

Hello Sanddoctor, I have now added a couple of more independent references. I would also like to point out that there are other pages that have products similar to NetSim with far less independent references. There requesting you again to accept this page. Lady-Phoenix (talk) 04:56, 27 April 2018 (UTC)

article about musician max turner

hi sandoctor, one question - there is so many articles all over wikipedia that refer to discogy and facebook... is that a new rule?? shall i just delete them or is it improtant to find other sources? thanks for your help! — Preceding unsigned comment added by Ingeborgfachmann (talkcontribs) 06:53, 26 April 2018 (UTC)

Hi there Ingeborgfachmann, sorry for the delay in my response. It is not a new rule. Facebook is a social media platform, which are generally not considered reliable, and discogs is also not considered a reliable source. In the case of Discogs though, it may be a useful source for some things or to point you in the direction for better sources. For instance, it pointed me to discovering an image of an album liner once which could be a reliably sourced.
Social media (which is self-published) does not help to demonstrate a subject's notability (that is where independent reliable sources come in).
I would recommend finding other sources to try and replace the social media ones if possible (and to expand the draft with). If you have any questions, please do let me know. --TheSandDoctor Talk 22:37, 26 April 2018 (UTC)
