Request for Help To Make April Fool's Article TFA

(Note before you read I am a newer editor and that I can not do as much stuff as you can, for example I can not put down the site for the teahouse, also this is informal but I am sort of serious.) For April Fool's day, I have been thinking that it has been since 2021 that we got a joke Today's Featured Article, and the WikiGnome article has everything, it has the conversation status, it has the scientific classification, and not to mention pictures of the rarely seen WikiGnome, and considering that you are a top-leveled in the Wikipedia ladder, semi-WikiGnome, smart person, I thought I would ask you. However, there is one major problem to this concept. The article for the WikiGnome is basically a stub, however, with you, me, and possibly others help, there might be a chance that this idea would be brought into light, or at least I hope. Thank you for listening to me. Sportsfangnome (talk) 00:56, 1 July 2022 (UTC)

@Sportsfangnome: While that would be potentially interesting and a funny idea for a parody site, it is unlikely to happen here. The Wikipedia home page is taken quite seriously, though the "Did you know..." section can sometimes include some humour on that date. I don't think you're going to find much support for this idea in its current form. TheSandDoctor Talk 03:36, 1 July 2022 (UTC)
Well thank you for the idea and the response. Sportsfangnome (talk) 03:52, 1 July 2022 (UTC)

Mick Jagger

Hi there. I've just seen you've undone my edit for adding Jagger's birthplace citing the FAC. I don't see what's so controversial or contentious about adding "England" to the infobox. Almost every other article about a person lists their country of birth. Samuel J Walker (talk) 16:39, 4 July 2022 (UTC)

@Samuel J Walker: My apologies for the delayed response. I took another look at the comments left on the FAC by Aoba47. Would "Dartford, England" be an adequate compromise for both the infobox and lead? The key is consistency; in the past I have seen all three ("Dartford, Kent, England") be objected to and removed, but I think we can reach a compromise here. TheSandDoctor Talk 05:27, 5 July 2022 (UTC)
"Dartford, England" works for me. Samuel J Walker (talk) 16:19, 5 July 2022 (UTC)

Question from SOH1995 (18:28, 11 July 2022)

Hi. So, how do I create a page for an institute that was established several years back? --SOH1995 (talk) 18:28, 11 July 2022 (UTC)

Hello @SOH1995: and welcome to Wikipedia! This guide to creating your first article will most likely be quite useful to you; the relevant "notability" criteria mentioned in the guide would most likely be this one. TheSandDoctor Talk 15:06, 12 July 2022 (UTC)

Is TweetCiteBot defunct?

Hi TheSandDoctor

Long time no talk. I hope that you well.

I see that @TweetCiteBot has not run since May. That's a pity, because it is the only tool which properly fills tweet refs. Without it, the tweets either clog up other bare URL processing tasks, or get filled badly using {{Cite web}}.

I am asking now, because another database dump will be made on the 20th July, and ready for download and analysis on the 21st. I am keen to reduce the number of scans I make, because they have now proliferated to over 30 scans, and that takes me all day. I no longer need the Tweet scans for my own purposes, and have never had any acknowledgement or thanks from you for the tweet scans. The last two batches I sent you (from the 20220601 and 20220701 database dumps, respectively) have not been used.

This seems to me to be a waste of my time. So I will stop doing those scans, unless you email me or msg my talk to tell me that you plan to run TweetCiteBot, and would like a scan from the latest dump.

Best wishes, BrownHairedGirl (talk) • (contribs) 15:36, 18 July 2022 (UTC)

Hi BrownHairedGirl I ran TCB again today but ran into an error as a page had a blacklist link on it. I'll have to investigate that further when I get the time and will re-run it on that; should be tomorrow or the day after. Apologies for the delay on this. I am grateful for the scans, just rather busy lately. TheSandDoctor Talk 04:12, 19 July 2022 (UTC)
Thanks, @TheSandDoctor. Good to know that the bot is not dead.
It would be great if the bot can finish that run before the next database dump is made, to remove those pages from the worklist. With blacklisted URLs, I find it best to just remove the page from the list, and let the run continue.
Anyway, I can do the scans any time from the 23rd onwards. Lemme know when you are ready to run the bot, and I will do the scans. BrownHairedGirl (talk) • (contribs) 04:23, 19 July 2022 (UTC)

About your proposal to close the proposal to remove fertility rite in WP:VA4

Actually there were only four votes supporting the removal, thus you should not close it. RekishiEJ (talk) 15:22, 19 July 2022 (UTC)

@RekishiEJ: The latest participation is (a day shy of) 5.5 months old without any objections, was unanimous, and it was clear that the discussion has run its course. It is not uncommon for deletion discussions etc to have a small participation and still be actioned. This is in addition to the fact that the discussion was already actioned by someone else as it wasn't listed at 4, was already re-evaluated at level 5, and that the closure was in compliance with the introductory note at the top of the page, namely "After 15 days any proposal may be closed as PASSED if at least two-thirds of the total !votes support the proposal." (it had 100% and a clear consensus). If you still object with this closure, WP:AN would be the place to get other admins to take a look and overturn if they view appropriate; please notify me here if you do take it there. Promotion of Mick Jagger

Congratulations, TheSandDoctor! The article you nominated, Mick Jagger, has been promoted to featured status, recognizing it as one of the best articles on Wikipedia. The nomination discussion has been archived.
This is a rare accomplishment and you should be proud. If you would like, you may nominate it to appear on the Main page as Today's featured article. Keep up the great work! Cheers, Ian Rose (talk) via FACBot (talk) 00:06, 24 July 2022 (UTC)

TheSandBot in July 2022

I happened to notice TheSandBot hasn't run any of its tasks since 14 June 2022 (over a month).

Judging by this recent discussion, I guess you have to manually activate on a monthly basis? There's no hurry, I just thought it was worth mentioning. Retro (talk | contribs) 18:51, 26 July 2022 (UTC)

@Retro: You're correct and thank you for the reminder. Now run. I will have to automate that one... TheSandDoctor Talk 23:29, 29 July 2022 (UTC)
