Tom, I've recommended cat:CF be merged with the more-comprehensive cat:Military of Canada both to avoid confusion between article and category names, and to prune a seemingly-deprecated cat. Do you see any issues with this? Flakeloaf 21:01, 18 January 2007 (UTC)[reply]

Hi. When you moved the article, it caused 5 double redirects, which I have fixed. Next time, please check for these as pointed out in the instructions for moving a page. I have already fixed the redirects, about half of which I created. To check for double redirects just simply click "What links here" in the toolbox. Thank you. Orphaned fair use image (Image:Epp-ed logo.jpg)

[edit]

Thanks for uploading Image:Epp-ed logo.jpg. The image description page currently specifies that the image is non-free and may only be used on Wikipedia under a claim of fair use. However, the image is currently orphaned, meaning that it is not used in any articles on Wikipedia. If the image was previously in an article, please go to the article and see why it was removed. You may add it back if you think that that will be useful. However, please note that images for which a replacement could be created are not acceptable under fair use (see our fair use policy).

If you have uploaded other unlicensed media, please check whether they're used in any articles or not. You can find a list of 'image' pages you have edited by clicking on the "my contributions" link (it is located at the very top of any Wikipedia page when you are logged in), and then selecting "Image" from the dropdown box. Note that any fair use images not used in any articles will be deleted after seven days, as described on criteria for speedy deletion. Thank you. Saint Martin fork - You rock!!!

[edit]

You have done a GREAT job so far on articles on both the French and Dutch halves of the island. Doing the hard work now will make things easier on us when the statuses take effect. It will also make it eaiser to import CIA Factbook material for both places once it's released. One thing though - the article on French Saint-Martin is currently titled Overseas collectivity of Saint Martin; until the new status comes into effect in a few months, the article should be titled Commune of Saint Martin; the present title is misleading until the new status comes in. - Thanks, Hoshie 05:49, 16 February 2007 (UTC)[reply]

Great work, indeed! I think, though, that having the countries as parenthetical dabbers is a better idea. (I've already made the changes.) —Nightstallion (?) 20:02, 16 February 2007 (UTC)[reply]

Iran

[edit]
Actual executive power rests with the Supreme Leader of Iran. See Article 110 & 176 of the Constitution of the Islamic Republic of Iran.

Also, cabinet: Council of Ministers selected by the president with legislative approval; the Supreme Leader has some control over appointments to the more sensitive ministries.

Please modify Image:Form of government.png whenever you have time.--Patchouli 06:24, 16 February 2007 (UTC)[reply]

The presidency is largely a figurehead position. First, the president does not have leeway in cabinet appointments[1]. Second, the president does not make military and judicial appointments. Third, the president is not entrusted with the power of presidential pardon. Fourth, he is not the commander-in-chief, albeit, the Supreme Leader can delegate the command of the military to whomever he chooses including the president.--Patchouli 06:30, 16 February 2007 (UTC)[reply]

Frontpage news

[edit]

Hi, nice you added some news about Finnish parliamentary elections, but it's total bullshit that left-centre coalition will held its power. There are no any coalitions until tomorrow. Coalition most likely will be right-centre. Please read these news [1][2] --Zzzzzzzzzz 00:59, 19 March 2007 (UTC)[reply]

Aircraft accident in ITN

[edit]

I noticed you removed the aircraft accident from ITN, and I also noticed your edit summary where you mentioned the macabre limiter. I tend to agree that such limits are dancing on the wrong side of the line. But out of interest I just happened across the long discussion at Talk:List of notable accidents and incidents on commercial aircraft which lead them to creating this Wikipedia:List of notable accidents and incidents on commercial aircraft/Guideline for inclusion criteria and format. That's a mouthful. I don't think that it actually helps us much. Just funny coincidence that others had already gone though a similar process of deliberation. --Monotonehell 17:20, 19 March 2007 (UTC)[reply]

Apparently they do (although not on their maps). Both the hyphen and space have good use "out there", it seems. Lexicon (talk) 17:20, 20 March 2007 (UTC)[reply]

new country templates

[edit]

Hi, I see that you have added a few new templates to Wikipedia:Inline templates linking country articles. I am concerned about the use of three letter codes (namely: SBH, SMT, and SXM) where no official codes (such as ISO 3166-1 alpha-3) for these areas. I have spent a lot of time in the past few weeks cleaning up the somewhat disorganized set of flag templates, eliminating duplicates, etc. Part of that was getting rid of three-letter code templates that were non-standard. Do we really need to add these three — in addition to having multiple redirects to them — when they are low-use? I do not think we need to over-populate the template namespace by having multiple aliases for each country/territory for which the current {{flag}} template is sufficient. Thanks for your comments! Andrwsc 23:21, 21 March 2007 (UTC)[reply]

I need your assistance. I noticed that you added this to Wikipedia:Selected anniversaries/March 26. However, the article currently does not mention "March 26" or is listed on the March 26 page. What happened on March 26? Was it the date that it was signed?

The article only lists May 1 as the date when it took effect. As per the WP:SA guidelines, I might have to revert your edit and put it back on Wikipedia:Selected anniversaries/May 1 [3]. Thanks. Zzyzx11 (Talk) 20:39, 25 March 2007 (UTC)[reply]

Fair use rationale for Image:Csp-logo.gif

[edit]

Thanks for uploading Image:Csp-logo.gif. I notice the image page specifies that the image is being used under fair use but there is no explanation or rationale as to why its use in Wikipedia articles constitutes fair use. In addition to the boilerplate fair use template, you must also write out on the image description page a specific explanation or rationale for why using this image in each article is consistent with fair use.

Please go to the image description page and edit it to include a fair use rationale.

If you have uploaded other fair use media, consider checking that you have specified the fair use rationale on those pages too. You can find a list of 'image' pages you have edited by clicking on the "my contributions" link (it is located at the very top of any Wikipedia page when you are logged in), and then selecting "Image" from the dropdown box. Note that any fair use images uploaded after 4 May, 2006, and lacking such an explanation will be deleted one week after they have been uploaded, as described on criteria for speedy deletion. If you have any questions please ask them at the Media copyright questions page. Thank you. Ilse@ 08:52, 28 May 2007 (UTC)[reply]

I have tagged Image:Bcpc.jpg as {{no rationale}}, because it does not provide a fair use rationale. If you believe the image to be acceptable for fair use according to Wikipedia policy, please provide a rationale explaining as much, in accordance with the fair use rationale guideline, on the image description page. Please also consider using {{non-free fair use in|article name}} or one of the other tags listed at Wikipedia:Image copyright tags#Fair_use. Thank you. MER-C 12:05, 22 July 2007 (UTC)[reply]
