Disputed fair use rationale for Image:Ewoks battle for endor STV81281.jpg

[edit]

Thanks for uploading File:Ewoks battle for endor STV81281.jpg. However, there is a concern that the rationale you have provided for using this image under "fair use" may be invalid. Please read the instructions at Wikipedia:Non-free content carefully, then go to the image description page and clarify why you think the image qualifies for fair use. Using one of the templates at Wikipedia:Fair use rationale guideline is an easy way to ensure that your image is in compliance with Wikipedia policy, but remember that you must complete the template. Do not simply insert a blank template on an image page.

If it is determined that the image does not qualify under fair use, it will be deleted within a couple of days according to our criteria for speedy deletion. If you have any questions please ask them at the media copyright questions page. Thank you.BetacommandBot (talk) 19:42, 13 February 2008 (UTC)[reply]

Fair use rationale for File:Kashyyykplanet.jpeg

[edit]

Thanks for uploading or contributing to File:Kashyyykplanet.jpeg. I notice the image page specifies that the image is being used under fair use but there is not a suitable explanation or rationale as to why each specific use in Wikipedia constitutes fair use. Please go to the image description page and edit it to include a fair use rationale.

If you have uploaded other fair use media, consider checking that you have specified the fair use rationale on those pages too. You can find a list of 'image' pages you have edited by clicking on the "my contributions" link (it is located at the very top of any Wikipedia page when you are logged in), and then selecting "Image" from the dropdown box. Note that any non-free media lacking such an explanation will be deleted one week after they have been uploaded, as described on criteria for speedy deletion. If you have any questions please ask them at the Media copyright questions page. Thank you. Ricky81682 (talk) 02:45, 14 February 2008 (UTC)[reply]

I have granted rollback rights to your account, because after a review of some of your contributions it appears that we can trust you to use rollback correctly by using it for its intended use of reverting vandalism: and believe you will not abuse it by reverting good-faith edits or to revert-war. AfD nomination of Firefly (soundtrack)

[edit]

I have nominated Firefly (soundtrack), an article you created, for deletion. I do not feel that this article satisfies Wikipedia's criteria for inclusion, and have explained why at Wikipedia:Articles for deletion/Firefly (soundtrack). Disputed fair use rationale for Image:Malla-HS.JPG

[edit]

Thank you for uploading File:Malla-HS.JPG. However, there is a concern that the rationale provided for using this image under "fair use" may not meet the criteria required by Wikipedia:Non-free content. This can be corrected by going to the image description page and add or clarify the reason why the image qualifies for fair use. Adding and completing one of the templates available from Wikipedia:Fair use rationale guideline is an easy way to ensure that your image is in compliance with Wikipedia policy. Please be aware that a fair use rationale is not the same as an image copyright tag; descriptions for images used under the fair use policy require both a copyright tag and a fair use rationale.

If it is determined that the image does not qualify under fair use, it might be deleted by adminstrator within a few days in accordance with our criteria for speedy deletion. If you have any questions, please ask them at the media copyright questions page. Thank you.BetacommandBot (talk) 14:55, 8 March 2008 (UTC)[reply]

Improving Star Wars to Featured Article status

[edit]

I am currently working on improving Star Wars to Featured Article status, and I noticed that you have made a substantial amount of contributions recently. If you have time, I would appreciate it if you could help out and improve the article. Right now, the primary thing that needs to be done is the addition of more references – the article simply is not referenced enough. I have added {{fact}} tags on the page, which shows up as [citation needed] to make it easier to find what information needs references. Thanks for your time! Orphaned non-free media (Image:Charal1.jpg)

[edit]

Thanks for uploading File:Charal1.jpg. The media description page currently specifies that it is non-free and may only be used on Wikipedia under a claim of fair use. However, it is currently orphaned, meaning that it is not used in any articles on Wikipedia. If the media was previously in an article, please go to the article and see why it was removed. You may add it back if you think that that will be useful. However, please note that media for which a replacement could be created are not acceptable for use on Wikipedia (see our policy for non-free media).

If you have uploaded other unlicensed media, please check whether they're used in any articles or not. You can find a list of 'image' pages you have edited by clicking on the "my contributions" link (it is located at the very top of any Wikipedia page when you are logged in), and then selecting "Image" from the dropdown box. Note that all non-free media not used in any articles will be deleted after seven days, as described on criteria for speedy deletion. Thank you. BJBot (talk) 12:26, 8 April 2008 (UTC)[reply]

Help with Indiana Jones

[edit]

I'm writing up an article for minor Indy characters here, could you write up the section on his mum and maybe other major characters in the TV show? I reckon it would be unencyclopedic to cite the feature length re-edits of the show, because I understand important information was left out when they cut the old Indiana scenes. Alientraveller (talk) 15:37, 13 April 2008 (UTC)[reply]

And I learn something new each day! Could you fix the cite (no. 42) though? Alientraveller (talk) 19:15, 13 April 2008 (UTC)[reply]

You'll be pleased to hear IGN did some character analysis of the TV show, which I implemented into the character's article: disillusionment in WW1 making him go from "it belongs in a museum" to "fortune and glory". Alientraveller (talk) 15:58, 22 May 2008 (UTC)[reply]

I have nominated Category:Star Wars live-action television series (edit | talk | history | links | watch | logs) for deletion. Your opinions on the matter are welcome; please participate in the discussion by adding your comments at the discussion page. Thank you. Judgesurreal777 (talk) 21:14, 26 May 2008 (UTC)[reply]

The article on Soldier (film)

[edit]

An IP editor has removed some material you placed, two years ago, in the article, Soldier (film), based on lack of source. I did some searching and, of course, found your Wookieepedia page mentioning the removal of the Tannhauser Gate battle scene from the film. I've been unable to find reliable source for this, anything more than blog mentions or the like. If the scene was in the script, and if the original script is available somewhere, this may suffice. Anyway, I thought you might like to look at Soldier (film) and at Talk:Soldier (film). At this point, I'd be pushing WP:3RR to keep the material in.

The scene at the end of Blade Runner where the Tannhauser Gate is mentioned is one of my favorite movies scenes of all time. And I'm over three times your age.... --Abd (talk) 23:06, 3 June 2008 (UTC)[reply]

You've indicated that the image is being used under a claim of fair use, but you have not provided an adequate explanation for why it meets Wikipedia's requirements for such images. In particular, for each page the image is used on, the image must have an explanation linking to that page which explains why it needs to be used on that page. Can you please check

Request for Participation in Wikipedia Research

[edit]

The Wookieepedian,

Your Request for Adminship (RfA) process was reviewed and studied by our research team at Carnegie Mellon University early in our project to gain insights into the process. If this is the first article that you have created, you may want to read the guide to writing your first article.

You may want to consider using the Article Wizard to help you create articles.

A tag has been placed on Van Ling requesting that it be speedily deleted from Wikipedia. This has been done under section A7 of the criteria for speedy deletion, because the article appears to be about a person or group of people, but it does not indicate how or why the subject is important or significant: that is, why an article about that subject should be included in an encyclopedia. Under the criteria for speedy deletion, such articles may be deleted at any time. Please see the guidelines for what is generally accepted as notable.

If you think that this notice was placed here in error, you may contest the deletion by adding {{hang on}} to the top of the page that has been nominated for deletion (just below the existing speedy deletion, or "db", tag; if no such tag exists, then the page is no longer a speedy delete candidate and adding a hang-on tag is unnecessary), coupled with adding a note on the talk page explaining your position, but be aware that once tagged for speedy deletion, if the page meets the criterion, it may be deleted without delay. Please do not remove the speedy deletion tag yourself, but don't hesitate to add information to the page that would render it more in conformance with Wikipedia's policies and guidelines. If the page is deleted, you can contact one of these administrators to request that the administrator userfy the page or email a copy to you. Mhiji 01:37, 10 January 2011 (UTC)[reply]

The Band and Blonde on Blonde

[edit]

Hi, Wookieepedian! I noticed you added Blonde on Blonde to the Dylan-Band collaborations in The Band's article. This could be mis-leading, and I wasn't sure how to handle the clarification, other than possibly with a footnote. As you probably know, only one song on the album, "One of Us Must Know", involved members of The Band, but just Danko and Robertson. Once the sessions moved to Nashville, Robertson was the only Band member to continue in the recordings. Any suggestions? My inclination is to remove it, given that one or two band members doth not a full Band make. Allreet (talk) 18:06, 27 February 2012 (UTC)[reply]

Thanks for the quick reply. Out of curiosity, I looked it up. Robertson appeared on all BoB tracks except "Sad-Eyed Lady" and "Stuck Inside of Mobile". And Kooper played on all of them except for Robertson's one other tune, "One of Us Must Know", which was Danko's only contribution. The source is Olof Bjorner (one of many of his links). I'm fairly certain other Dylan editors would reject this as a Band collaboration, so if you don't mind, I'll remove the reference. Allreet (talk) 05:10, 28 February 2012 (UTC)[reply]
Correction: Al Kooper also played organ on "One of Us Must Know". Allreet (talk) 05:58, 28 February 2012 (UTC)[reply]

The Band/Clapton

[edit]

Members of the Band collaborated with Clapton on No Reason to Cry, not the Band itself. As for The Last Waltz, Jubilation and their Hall of Fame induction, I don't believe those constitute collaborations. Red Tails

[edit]

Regarding Film Comment at Red Tails, if you endorse the use of that reference, then that is fine. I came across a few accounts that were basically only referencing Film Comment, like if a new issue comes out, they'll put the online articles in as many film articles as possible. These should not be included that way since it is a conflict of interest and solicitation to boot. Editors independent of this pattern can include and/or restore references to this periodical. • George is right. It's basically never right to unilaterally reverse the move of an RM. I understand in this case that only one editor's opinion was involved in said RM, but because the article had been the subject of an RM, it needs to be treated as "potentially controversial" per WP:RMT. Given the dearth of participation, opening a new RM to restore the "The" would be fine. --BDD (talk) 23:45, 22 August 2013 (UTC)[reply]

George Harrison template

[edit]

Hi The Wookieepedian. A few of your recent edits to Harrison album articles have come up on my watch list and I see they're related to changes you've made to the GH template. I'm a bit confused by these – for instance, in a WP:The Beatles talk discussion some time back, Evanh2008 established that Electronic Sound should be shown as Harrison's first studio album. Along with that, there's now misrepresentation on the template with Wonderwall Music removed from a soundtrack field to sit (with Elec Sound) under Related Articles/Albums. It's a misrepresentation because Wonderwall was indeed a purpose-made soundtrack album, whereas items included in Related Articles are (logically) projects that Harrison worked on with/for others, collaborations, extracurricular activities etc. In other words, Wonderwall and Electronic Sound were releases under his own name and so should be included among those uppermost fields in the template, surely.

I could be missing something, I admit, but that's the way I see the distinction. It might be an idea to raise this issue at the project's talk page, do you think? JG66 (talk) 06:36, 24 December 2013 (UTC)[reply]

Thanks for your reply. Thing is, your rationale isn't consistent with the Lennon temp, as far as I can see. Two Virgins, Life with the Lions etc appear under an "Experimental" field there – they're not buried away in "Related". That treatment on Temp:Lennon seems logical, I think, and Wonderwall and Elec Sound were full-fledged Harrison releases, just like those experimental works by Lennon. (In fact, more so than the latter, which were Lennon–Ono collaborations, of course.) If in doubt, I really think we ought to run this by the Beatles talk page, you know? Cheers, JG66 (talk) 12:29, 24 December 2013 (UTC)[reply]

re '74 tour

[edit]

Ah, you beat me to it with starting that article! In fact, I'd long been planning one, offline (it's only been in the planning stages for around, oh, two years now …) So much to say about that tour – it's definitely one I'd like to take to GA sometime. With a lot of work beforehand.

Thanks for your comment about retitling. Thing is, I'm totally ignorant of the process. The title should be George Harrison–Ravi Shankar 1974 North American Tour, as far as I can tell (with an en [or short dash] between their names, not a hyphen or minus sign) – but how do I change it to that wording, do you know? Cheers, JG66 (talk) 05:04, 29 December 2013 (UTC)[reply]

Back again. With that tour chronology you've added, what's really needed – because the info currently sits under the heading "George Harrison and Ravi Shankar" – is two separate chronologies. One for GH that gives the 1991 Japanese tour; another for Ravi, referring to the earlier Music Festival from India tour of Europe. Any idea how to go about that, to have two tour chronologies, but neither of them actually follow the wording of the infobox's artists for this specific tour? (More signs of my zero capability when it comes to formatting …) JG66 (talk) 05:53, 29 December 2013 (UTC)[reply]

You're under no obligation to say yes, but I just thought I'd ask! I'm sorry that this might seem super-weird or out of the blue!--Gen. Quon (Talk)

A tag has been placed on Category:Firefly (TV series) spin-offs indicating that it is currently empty, and is not a disambiguation category, a category redirect, a featured topics category, under discussion at Categories for discussion, or a project category that by its nature may become empty on occasion. If it remains empty for seven days or more, it may be deleted under section C1 of the criteria for speedy deletion.

If you think this page should not be deleted for this reason you may contest the nomination by visiting the page and clicking the button labelled "Contest this speedy deletion". This will give you the opportunity to explain why you believe the page should not be deleted. Please do not remove the speedy deletion tag from the page yourself. Liz Read!
