Presidency Navigation Templates vs. Biography Navigation Templates discussion

[edit]

Hello, Thebirdlover! Since you are listed as an active member of the United States Presidents WikiProject, would you mind leaving a comment at a project talk page discussion about a series of templates that I created for the presidencies of Lyndon B. Johnson, Richard Nixon, Gerald Ford, Jimmy Carter, Ronald Reagan, George H. W. Bush, and George W. Bush? Another editor and myself disagree about whether there should be a separate navigation template for each Presidency apart from the biographical navigation template. Thanks! -- CommonKnowledgeCreator (talk) 22:07, 9 July 2024 (UTC)[reply]

Need Help with CSDing an Image on Commons

[edit]

User:Laufeytubbies is using an obviously doctored image of Loki with the Teletubbies to cause vandalism on various pages relevant to the two subjects. I am trying to nominate the image they are using for speedy deletion, but I do not know how to properly do it on Commons. Commons is not cross-compatible with Twinkle, which I rely too heavily on now after 14 years of being here so sometimes it is tough to do things the manual way anymore. The image is located here. --Thebirdlover (talk) 04:19, 28 July 2024 (UTC)[reply]

Hey there! I believe the right Commons template here is Copyvio since this is such a clear copyright violation. If this were less obvious but still a derivative work combining likely non-free files, you'd want subst:Dw-nsd. I've tagged the file as a copyright violation on Commons and reverted their edits here where the image was used. Let me know if you have any other questions! Appreciate your help, thank you for that. --Thebirdlover (talk) 13:37, 28 July 2024 (UTC)[reply]

Wondering if this can be changed to a soft-block or I can have IP Block Exemption

[edit]
This blocked user's request to have autoblock on their IP address lifted has been reviewed by an administrator, who declined the request.

Decline reason: IPBE is normally only granted in cases where it is difficult for people to access Wikipedia at all- like countries where accessing Wikipedia is restricted by the government, or someone who has no other means of internet access. As you have access via your computer, there is no need to grant you IPBE, especially where you say "it's not a big deal". 331dot (talk) 08:43, 19 August 2024 (UTC)[reply]

This is my cell phone's IP address, currently the system will not let me edit on my phone even if I am logged into my account. I was wondering if this could be changed to a soft block or I could get IP block exemption so I can edit on my phone if need be. To even make this request, I had to log onto Wikipedia using my computer--it is not a big deal but it is unfortunate if I see something I want to fix and cannot easily get to my computer. --Thebirdlover (talk) 07:17, 19 August 2024 (UTC)[reply]

User Claiming They Are Banned When They Are Not; Not Sure How to Address

[edit]

User:Justcgi is claiming that they were community banned and banned by the WMF on their user page even though they don’t seem to be (unless they are some sort of sock puppet). I did not want to put a warning template, modify the userpage, and/or post to AN/I without checking because even though I am assuming it is against the rules, I cannot find a policy that explicitly forbids falsely claiming you are banned on your user page. Thebirdlover (talk) 20:48, 24 August 2024 (UTC)[reply]

I think I found a template on Twinkle that addresses this and feel comfortable modifying the user page and putting a warning on their talk page now; please correct after looking at their user/talk page if I end up messing this up. --Thebirdlover (talk) 20:54, 24 August 2024 (UTC)[reply]
I'm not quite sure what help you are requesting, so I've removed that template. The warning you've posted on Justcgi's talk page is fine - RichT|C|E-Mail 15:04, 25 August 2024 (UTC)[reply]
Sorry if it was unclear what I was asking for, but I wanted to verify there was a policy that forbade users from claiming they were banned when they were not so I could address that situation appropriately--which it sounds like I did end up doing on my own. I was nervous if the user pressed me about it, I would not have a concrete policy that I could use to justify on why I took their fake "ban notice" away. Thanks for the info you were able to provide. --Thebirdlover (talk) 23:08, 25 August 2024 (UTC)[reply]
