Your username[edit]

Welcome to Wikipedia. I noticed that your username, "Theclubfive", may not comply with our username policy. Please note that you may not use a username that represents the name of a company, group, organization, product, service, or website. Examples of usernames that are not allowed include "XYZ Company", "MyWidgetsUSA.com", and "Foobar Museum of Art". However, you are permitted to use a username that contains such a name if it identifies you individually, such as "Sara Smith at XYZ Company", "Mark at WidgetsUSA", or "FoobarFan87".

Please also note that Wikipedia does not allow accounts to be shared by multiple people, and that you may not advocate for or promote any company, group, organization, product, service, or website, regardless of your username. Please also read our paid editing policy and our conflict of interest guideline. If you are a single individual and are willing to contribute to Wikipedia in an unbiased manner, please request a change of username, by completing the form at Special:GlobalRenameRequest, choosing a username that complies with our username policy. If you believe that your username does not violate our policy, please leave a note here explaining why. Thank you. 331dot (talk) 16:44, 28 May 2020 (UTC)[reply]

May 2020[edit]

There have been two problems with this account: the account has been used for advertising or promotion, which is contrary to the purpose of Wikipedia, and your username indicates that the account represents a business or other organisation or group or a web site, which is also against policy, as an account must be for just one person. Because of those problems, the account has been blocked indefinitely from editing. Additionally, if you receive, or expect to receive, compensation for your contributions to Wikipedia, you must disclose who is paying you to edit.

If you intend to make useful contributions other than promoting your business or organisation, you may request an unblock. To do so, post the text {{unblock-spamun|Your proposed new username|Your reason here}} at the bottom of your talk page. Replace the text "Your proposed new username" with a new username you are willing to use. See Special:CentralAuth to search for available usernames. Your new username will need to meet our username policy. Replace the text "Your reason here" with your reason to be unblocked. In that reason, you must:

  • Convince us that you understand the reason for your block and that you will not repeat the kind of edits for which you were blocked.
  • Describe in general terms the contributions that you intend to make if you are unblocked.
If you believe this block was made in error, you may appeal this block. To do so, please read the guide to appealing blocks, then add the text {{unblock|Your reason here}} at the bottom of your talk page, replace the text "Your reason here" with your reason for thinking that the block was an error, and publish the page. Hello. This account name is not associated with a business and is just my favorite playing card, the five of clubs. I am also not promoting any business. Theclubfive (talk) 20:08, 28 May 2020 (UTC)

Already unblocked by DragonflySixtyseven (talk · contribs · blocks · protections · deletions · page moves · rights · RfA) -- Amanda (aka DQ) 07:38, 13 June 2020 (UTC)[reply]

You stated that you were here to change your boss' image. This means you must declare as a paid editor(a Terms of Use requirement) as well as review conflict of interest. Please describe any other topics you might edit about other than your boss or anything else you have a COI with. 331dot (talk) 20:11, 28 May 2020 (UTC)[reply]

I understand. I have reviewed the COI and can confirm that I am a paid editor for Joe Pera. I am only hoping to change the photo associated with his page and no other information on his page or any other page. There are no other COI issues. I hope this is the necessary information you're looking for and I can comment with more information as is necessary. Thank you.

  • Orangemike This user did declare that they wanted to change the image of their boss even before they were blocked, and has explained their username, but before doing anything I wanted to know if you had any additional comment or information. Thanks 331dot (talk) 22:23, 28 May 2020 (UTC)[reply]

Thank you. It can be a little confusing trying to do this the correct way. I'm happy to follow all instructions given to me and will comply with any site regulations. I own the rights to the photo I attempted to change and had direct permission from the person the Wiki is about to change it. If there is anything else I should do to comply with site rules I am happy to do so.

1. You are promoting a business: Pena's.
2. No permission is asked or needed from the subject of an article, to changed the illustrations that accompany said article.
3. 331dot has already asked, but you have not answered: Please describe any other topics you might edit about other than your boss or anything else you have a COI with.
4. Please remember to sign your edits on talk pages using the signature button above the edit window. --Orange Mike | Talk 23:18, 28 May 2020 (UTC)[reply]

Also, once you get unblocked, the page Wikipedia:A picture of you might be helpful. And if you're working for Joe, you're probably an OK person. :) Trivialist (talk) 02:47, 29 May 2020 (UTC)[reply]

Sorry, I had answered that question on another page. I will not be editing or changing anything else, even on the page. Only the photo. Theclubfive (talk) 14:03, 29 May 2020 (UTC)Theclubfive[reply]

Request reason:

I have chosen another username, but any username that complies with the site regulations will be ok with me. I have also answered all other questions and have no intention to edit any page or information. I believe I followed all site rules when changing the Joe Pera photo, but if there is something I missed I am happy to update that information. Please let me know what else I can do.

Decline reason:

If your only purpose here is to change the photo - which it appears has been deleted from Commons as it is a copyright violation, and so cannot be used on Wikipedia in any case - then there is no reason to unblock this account as there are no edits that you wish to perform. Yunshui  08:41, 4 June 2020 (UTC)[reply]

I was originally blocked for being a business account, which was unfounded. I have only tried to comply with the site rules and regulations as well. I would still like to change the photo to something else as the current photo is borderline problematic but that shouldn't be a cause for an account ban. And if it is then I would implore a moderator to find a better picture to use and upload it for me so that both the photo in dispute can be changed and my account remain blocked.
