Thanks for registering as a user, it has given you a talk page, which allows individual messages and discussions. You also have a User page which has many uses. When you make your first few edits, the monitoring team will try to assess you, before deleting, accepting etc. First check, is the user page a red-link- this is a warning. So writing a few words to describe your self turns that from a red-link to a blue link (first check passed) what you write is irrelevant. Our lead trainer gets his students to write.

I am interested in ..... then save. This is enough to put an entry in the edit log- so he can find his students later as he will have forgotten ther names!

When I am doing an Wiki-training session for new users I do it differently: I get them to write a bit about themselves, and the sentence

I am doing a wikicourse led by @ClemRutter:

This does four things.

  • It puts a mini-bio on the User page which will pacify the monitoring team.
  • It sends me a notification- this is my attendance list
  • It starts the user writing and saving text
  • It panlessly introduces the concept of templates

Onward to the eleven plus article. It needs a little tender loving care- and a lot of maths. You are obviously the one to write it. Take care that you don't publisher here any original research. Every fact needs a reference - but if you are researching a doctorate you will have the sources books in front of you- so please add references where you can. To me the sfn format (with efn) is the most useful.ClemRutter (talk) 11:46, 16 July 2017 (UTC)[reply]

Thanks for the very warm welcome. Wikipedia is still very strange so I'm working on a draft of what to write in Word which I'll share with colleagues before unleashing on the public! To respond to this do I just 'edit' the page/section? Thehampshirehog (talk) 12:09, 23 July 2017 (UTC)[reply]

Yes, now you have a little history, that will work fine. Make sure each paragraph is referenced, and then upload in smallish chunks. it is clever to explain what you are doing on the talk page first-if you include {{ping|ClemRutter}} then I will get an email to draw my attention to the post. Then I will reply immediately. ClemRutter (talk) 13:33, 24 August 2017 (UTC)[reply]
