AfD nomination of Sergeant Cheerleader[edit]

I have nominated Sergeant Cheerleader, an article that you created, for deletion. I do not think that this article satisfies Wikipedia's criteria for inclusion, and have explained why at Wikipedia:Articles for deletion/Sergeant Cheerleader (2nd nomination). Your opinions on the matter are welcome at that same discussion page; also, you are welcome to edit the article to address these concerns. Thank you for your time. I was going to leave this on the AFD page, but figured I'd note you directly, as it creates less clutter. From WP:NF, the notability guidelines for films, and why this film does not meet those guidelines:

  1. The film is widely distributed and has received full length reviews by two or more nationally known critics. Can you provide published distribution numbers, and reviews as outlined?
  2. The film is historically notable, as evidenced by one or more of the following. Well, given this is a recent student film, I don't see this applying.
  3. The film has received a major award for excellence in some aspect of filmmaking. Can you provide references for the awards this film has won?
  4. The film was selected for preservation in a national archive. As #2 above
  5. The film is "taught" as a subject at an accredited university or college with a notable film program. Can you provide full syllabi from colleges which use this film to teach courses?

If you think you can meet any of those guidelines, please feel free to update the article in question supplying the references. IMDB as a sole source is not considered reliable Yngvarr (t) (c) 22:57, 13 December 2008 (UTC)[reply]

I made it prettier per the Wikipedia film Manual of Style, but the article still fails WP:NF. I did some deep searching and could not find sources independent of the subject. IMDB can confirm a film has been made and that it has a certain cast and crew, but cannot by itself, per Wiki guidelines, confer notability. When this film goes to festivals, it may well receive some decent press, and then it might be welcomed back... but for now, the various write-ups in the two College of William and Mary school papers, just don't do it. Sorry. In the meanwhile, I have copied to improved article to your sandbox here: User:Themensaguy2001/sandbox Sergeant Cheerleader Keep tweakling the article and keep including and sourcing more news at it occurs. Feel free to ask my opinion at such future point when it might come back. I will be honest as possible. In the meantime, study WP:N, WP:NF, and WP:RS.
