Hi. Thank you for your recent edits. An automated process has detected that when you recently edited List of Kurdish dynasties and countries, you added a link pointing to the disambiguation page PYD (check to confirm | fix with Dab solver). Such links are usually incorrect, since a disambiguation page is merely a list of unrelated topics with similar titles. (Read the FAQ • Join us at the DPL WikiProject.)

Thanks for uploading File:Russia-Syria-Iran-Iraq-Hezbollah logo.svg. The image description page currently specifies that the image is non-free and may only be used on Wikipedia under a claim of fair use. However, the image is currently not used in any articles on Wikipedia. If the image was previously in an article, please go to the article and see why it was removed. You may add it back if you think that that will be useful. However, please note that images for which a replacement could be created are not acceptable for use on Wikipedia (see our policy for non-free media).

Note that any non-free images not used in any articles will be deleted after seven days, as described in section F5 of the criteria for speedy deletion. Thank you. --B-bot (talk) 18:00, 23 October 2018 (UTC)[reply]

Hi, I'm RonBot, a script that checks new non-free file uploads. I have found that the subject image that you recently uploaded was more than 5% in excess of the Non-free content guideline size of 100,000 pixels. I have tagged the image for a standard reduction, which (for jpg/gif/png/svg files) normally happens within a day. Please check the reduced image, and make sure that the image is not excessively corrupted. Other files will be added to Category:Wikipedia non-free file size reduction requests for manual processing. There is a full seven-day period before the original oversized image will be hidden; during that time you might want to consider editing the original image yourself (perhaps an initial crop to allow a smaller reduction or none at all). A formula for calculation the desired size can be found at WP:Image resolution, along with instructions on how to tag the image in the rare cases that it requires an oversized image (typically about 0.2% of non-free uploads are tagged as necessarily oversized). Please contact the bot owner if you have any questions, or you can ask them at Wikipedia talk:Non-free content. RonBot (talk) 17:01, 24 October 2018 (UTC)[reply]

ArbCom 2018 election voter message

[edit]

Hello, Thespoondragon. Voting in the 2018 Arbitration Committee elections is now open until 23.59 on Sunday, 3 December. All users who registered an account before Sunday, 28 October 2018, made at least 150 mainspace edits before Thursday, 1 November 2018 and are not currently blocked are eligible to vote. Users with alternate accounts may only vote once.

The Arbitration Committee is the panel of editors responsible for conducting the Wikipedia arbitration process. It has the authority to impose binding solutions to disputes between editors, primarily for serious conduct disputes the community has been unable to resolve. This includes the authority to impose site bans, topic bans, editing restrictions, and other measures needed to maintain our editing environment. The arbitration policy describes the Committee's roles and responsibilities in greater detail.

If you wish to participate in the 2018 election, please review the candidates and submit your choices on the voting page. MediaWiki message delivery (talk) 18:42, 19 November 2018 (UTC)[reply]

Anarchism

[edit]

Hi Thespoondragon,

I saw your work on articles related to anarchism and wanted to say hello, as I work in the topic area too. If you haven't already, you might want to watch our noticeboard for Wikipedia's coverage of anarchism, which is a great place to ask questions, collaborate, discuss style/structure precedent, and stay informed about content related to anarchism. Take a look for yourself!

And if you're looking for other juicy places to edit, consider adopting a cleanup category or participating in one of our current formal discussions.

Feel free to say hi on my talk page and let me know if these links were helpful (or at least interesting). Hope to see you around. czar 02:21, 7 December 2018 (UTC)[reply]

Hello, Thespoondragon. It has been over six months since you last edited the Articles for Creation submission or Draft page you started, "Revolutionary Communard Party".

In accordance with our policy that Wikipedia is not for the indefinite hosting of material deemed unsuitable for the encyclopedia mainspace, the draft has been nominated for deletion. If you plan on working on it further, or editing it to address the issues raised if it was declined, simply edit the submission and remove the {{db-afc}}, {{db-draft}}, or {{db-g13}} code.

If your submission has already been deleted by the time you get there, and you wish to retrieve it, you can request its undeletion by following the instructions at this link. An administrator will, in most cases, restore the submission so you can continue to work on it.

Thanks for your submission to Wikipedia, and happy editing. Dolotta (talk) 18:00, 2 January 2019 (UTC)[reply]

Old coat of arms of the Republic of Cyprus

[edit]

Have You noticed, that almost every Wiki article (together approx. 220) - except the English one - has an old coat of arms of Cyprus SVG file, like the Chinese, German, Portuguese, Spanish and Swedish? --2001:999:41:76B8:4CA:CD74:5D20:C2EA (talk) 18:53, 27 March 2019 (UTC)[reply]

I have noticed this, essentually what happened was the current depiction of the Cypriot coat of arms was removed from Commons, as it was under the copyright of the government of Cyprus. Therefore wikipedias either chose to use the closest available on commmons, the former depiction, or to use the current depiction under fair use. It is understandable why other wikipedias use the former coat of arms, as reuploading a file and making the rationale is a bit of a hassle imho. Thespündragon 18:35, 28 March 2019 (UTC)[reply]

Hi there, I was wondering why you reverted/flagged the png and svg for the Reichspartei Logo. I understand why it would be copyrighted, but what makes the cutout of the poster legal in terms of copyright and mine illegal, since I created the svg myself? I'm still a beginner, so I'm just wondering. To clarify, what makes my vectorization any different than File:Logo of Socialist Reich Party.svg, since this is the same time frame and is also presumably an original work vectorization based on historical posters/banners? Thanks, Theodore Christopher (talk) 12:50, 24 May 2021 (UTC)[reply]

Non-free works have to be uploaded to Wikipedia under a claim of fair use, see the aforementioned File:Logo of Socialist Reich Party.svg as an example. Vectorizations of copyrighted works still fall under the copyright of the original work, and as such cannot be uploaded to Commons. -Thespündragon 16:41, 24 May 2021 (UTC)[reply]

Hello! Voting in the 2022 Arbitration Committee elections is now open until 23:59 (UTC) on Monday, 12 December 2022. All eligible users are allowed to vote.

If you wish to participate in the 2022 election, please review the candidates and submit your choices on the voting page. If you no longer wish to receive these messages, you may add {{NoACEMM}} to your user talk page. MediaWiki message delivery (talk) 01:40, 29 November 2022 (UTC)[reply]

Notice

The article SDF insurgency in northern Syria has been proposed for deletion because of the following concern:

Poorly sourced, and no update since a while.

While all constructive contributions to Wikipedia are appreciated, pages may be deleted for any of several reasons.

You may prevent the proposed deletion by removing the {{proposed deletion/dated}} notice, but please explain why in your edit summary or on the article's talk page.

Please consider improving the page to address the issues raised. Removing {{proposed deletion/dated}} will stop the proposed deletion process, but other deletion processes exist. In particular, the speedy deletion process can result in deletion without discussion, and articles for deletion allows discussion to reach consensus for deletion. Flag of PFLP

[edit]

I contact you as you are the uploader of File:Flag of PFLP.svg.

I noticed that this is a simplified version of the actual flag, that should be like this (with text in Arab at top and English at bottom around the central logo), like one of these flags.

Is this image too simple to be copyrighted and therefore qualify to be uploaded to Commons?

As it is written that File:PFLP Infobox Flag.svg should be used for flagicons, but it doesn't exist. Could it be created? I need it in it.wiki.

Bad news also this file may qualify for deletion. -- ZandDev 23:12, 23 March 2024 (UTC)[reply]
