Arab cinema

[edit]

Hi there. I absolutely agree that an article on Arabic cinema is needed and I'm astonished that one doesn't exist. Unfortunately, the article that you have created doesn't keep to the usual requirements here at Wikipedia. It's not fact-based, whereas in an encyclopedia history should comes well ahead of analysis. It's not particularly chronologically ordered. And it seems to most people to violate WP:NPOV. I thought I'd write to you here as I have a suggestion. Would you like to work on the Arabic cinema article with me? If you create it in the first place on your front page then I would be happy to copy-edit and make suggestions for improvement. I wouldn't contribute any original content, but could point out if rules or conventions were being broken. Then when the article is more in shape you could create the proper Arabic Cinema article. Let me know here if interested. All the best. Vizjim 08:54, 1 June 2006 (UTC)[reply]

Hi, Vizjim. Glad there is someone out there who appreciated the piece. As you may have noticed it is actually an essay written for college that I quickly reworked and posted on Wikipedia. I am a great admirer of the Wikipedia project and have always wanted to submit to it and thought that this would be my chance, unfortunately I am an absolute newbie in terms of writing NPOV articles (actually I have qualms with the term itself and think it is an impossibility but that's beside the point). I would be glad to rework this piece properly with sage guidance. I think the first step is to ask if there is anything salvageable from the piece itself? --Thisisthepope 17:40, 2 June 2006 (UTC)[reply]

Hi, unfortunately Wikipedia does not accept non-neutral articles written from a specific point of view. Submissions of student essays not only tend to have a point of view, but also may comprise some original research. As a result, I have deleted the article in line with its AfD nomination. I have also moved the content to your userspace (User:Thisisthepope/Arabic Cinema); hopefully you will be able to rewrite it to conform with Wikipedia policy so we can finally have an article on Arab cinema. Thanks for editing, and keep it up. :) Johnleemk | Talk 11:49, 9 June 2006 (UTC)[reply]
