The article David Mathews (Australian politician) has been proposed for deletion because of the following concern:

No significant coverage in independent reliable sources as required by WP:GNG and unelected candidates don't meet the WP:POLITICIAN notability standard

While all contributions to Wikipedia are appreciated, content or articles may be deleted for any of several reasons.

You may prevent the proposed deletion by removing the {{proposed deletion/dated}} notice, but please explain why in your edit summary or on the article's talk page.

Please consider improving the article to address the issues raised. Removing {{proposed deletion/dated}} will stop the proposed deletion process, but other deletion processes exist. In particular, the speedy deletion process can result in deletion without discussion, and articles for deletion allows discussion to reach consensus for deletion. are you going to provide a reason why you think this person is notable according to our guidelines, as you haven't explained anything on the talk page yet. If you don't supply a good enough reason I will nominate it for deletion again (at WP:AFD). The-Pope (talk) 23:58, 4 April 2012 (UTC)[reply]

Hi, yeah I am sorry I was at work yesterday so didn't have time to update. I'll be updating the talk page on David Mathews now. Thmcmahon (talk) 00:35, 6 April 2012 (UTC)[reply]

Nomination of David Mathews (Australian politician) for deletion

[edit]

A discussion is taking place as to whether the article David Mathews (Australian politician) is suitable for inclusion in Wikipedia according to Wikipedia's policies and guidelines or whether it should be deleted.

The article will be discussed at Wikipedia:Articles for deletion/David Mathews (Australian politician) until a consensus is reached, and anyone is welcome to contribute to the discussion. The nomination will explain the policies and guidelines which are of concern. The discussion focuses on high-quality evidence and our policies and guidelines.

Users may edit the article during the discussion, including to improve the article to address concerns raised in the discussion. However, do not remove the article-for-deletion template from the top of the article. The-Pope (talk) 10:22, 5 April 2012 (UTC)[reply]

Conflict of interest

[edit]

Hi there, although this may seem like an adversarial conflict, I am open to your views, however, Wikipedia isn't like most other websites. There are fairly detailed rules as to what qualifies for inclusion or not. That decision is now not up to you or me, but to other experienced editors/administrators, based on our (and anyone else who is interested) arguments and the wikipedia policies (we can still have our say at the deletion discussion page, and I have copied your talk page comments onto that page. Feel free to modify or add to them if you want - they are your words after all, although it may be best to only change them before anyone else comments, if others have commented, then adding to your comments is better than changing them). Personally, I still believe that the "significant" coverage of the WP:GNG is lacking - the coverage in the Canberra Times is generally trivial in nature, not covering Mathews in detail. But like I said, that decision is now for others to determine.

Thank you for your disclosure on your potential, and in this case, likely, conflict of interest. Please read the policy and restrict yourself to editing in accordance with it. As I read it, you can "keep an eye" on the article and correct definite errors or vandalism, but you shouldn't try to hide alternate (appropriately referenced) points of view or skew the article in any way - and creating articles is almost certainly not appropriate. If you have any questions about this, the WP:AFD process, please read all of the blue links here or above, or reply below here and I'll try to help.
