It does not say ANYWHERE that Premadasa was president at the time, and, I'm sorry but been as civil as possible, either you need to get your eyes checked or go back to school and learn how to read. --snowolfD4( talk / @ ) 21:49, 21 May 2007 (UTC)[reply]

License tagging for Image:83n.jpg

[edit]

Thanks for uploading Image:83n.jpg. Wikipedia gets thousands of images uploaded every day, and in order to verify that the images can be legally used on Wikipedia, the source and copyright status must be indicated. Images need to have an image tag applied to the image description page indicating the copyright status of the image. This uniform and easy-to-understand method of indicating the license status allows potential re-users of the images to know what they are allowed to do with the images.

For more information on using images, see the following pages:

This is an automated notice by OrphanBot. If you need help on selecting a tag to use, or in adding the tag to the image description, feel free to post a message at Wikipedia:Media copyright questions. 23:05, 21 May 2007 (UTC)

Because there is no reason they shouldn't be included in both articles. --snowolfD4( talk / @ ) 19:47, 22 May 2007 (UTC)[reply]

Please stop. If you continue to blank out (or delete portions of) page content, templates or other materials from Wikipedia, as you did to List of notable attacks attributed to the LTTE, you will be blocked from editing. snowolfD4( talk / @ ) 13:11, 24 May 2007 (UTC)[reply]

State terrorism article

[edit]

Hello, you are adding incidents that qaulify as state tterrorism but you need to find RS sources calling them as state terrorism. We are here notto tell the truth but to document what others say about a subject matter. For example massacre of 50,000 people during JVP insurrection can be included because someone said it is state terrorism so is black july and burning of the jaffna library. Allaipiddy massacre is st because someone said so. Please keep in mind that adding other information only makes it weak. Thanks Taprobanus 15:58, 28 May 2007 (UTC)[reply]

Ur questions

[edit]

I undersatnd ur line of questions. Infact I was there about 1 year ago but with time I have come to understand how to write a wikipedia article. Today, if I want I can write that someone's mother is a prostitute in a neutral tone with reliable sources :))) But seriously in wikipedia we record what others say, we dont make up anything even if it so self evident to us. That is some one has to say that a black box is black box before you can record it as a black box here. If a color blind person says that it is grey then you include that too. In effect what you have to do is to read those two books that are listed as further reading. You can include every incident those books says as ST as ST. There should be other books like Only Man is Vile by McGovern etc. Also read all the web references that I have included in the article. Especially at the reaction end. Few of them list a lot of incidents as befitting ST than already listed, you can include them all. This article survived an AFD when I like you connected the dots about a year ago and wrote the article, of course I had a great lawyer working with me, who used to make great arguments on my behalf as well others who worked very had to keep these articles alive so that they can get better. But now it is pruned and better, it cannot get deleted that easy. Get the books, do your research and wikipedia is not going to go away any time soon. Also look at this project, we have a lot of grass roots editing to be done before we can write stable but controversal articles that survive us. Thanks and keep your focus on your studies, family, friends and then wikipedia, because this can be an addiction. I am coasting in my life so this doesnt effect me that much but those who are in the prime of life should never allow it to become an addiction. Good luck Taprobanus 22:44, 29 May 2007 (UTC)[reply]

Re: Notable assassinations (Sri Lanka)

[edit]

Hi. I'm glad to see that you did. Since you are back, I want to make a quick note: as you've probably noticed, some of your additions to the Notable assassinations of the Sri Lankan Civil War article were subsequently reverted by other editors because they cited TamilNet. Although TamilNet is considered to meet most standards of a reliable source, it is also considered biased toward the LTTE. As such, it should be used cautiously and only be used with explicit attribution (e.g., "According to the pro-LTTE TamilNet" or "The pro-LTTE TamilNet reports ..."). For more details, click here.

I've read some of the comments on this page and I think the best I can say is to follow Taprobanus' advice. As most Sri Lankan conflict-related articles are controversial, the advice he gives – to rely on reliable sources, to avoid any original claims, and to not take things too seriously – is probably all the more relevant. Cheers, Black Falcon (Talk) 00:07, 2 June 2007 (UTC)[reply]

I noticed that in a number of edit summaries you describe the edits of others as "vandalism" ... I'd recommend using that term sparingly in the context of content disputes. Even if you think that the label is appropriate, it usually only serves to unnecessarily escalate the situation and hinder productive discussion. I speak not so much from personal experience, but rather from having reviewed some of the edit wars that have taken place on Wikipedia. For some of the more ridiculous or amusing edit wars, you might like to take a look at Wikipedia:Lamest edit wars. I found rReading through some of the page histories both a source of valuable insights and a nice distraction. Cheers, Black Falcon (Talk) 00:14, 2 June 2007 (UTC)[reply]

Red cross workers article

[edit]

That's more like it. Stick to the facts and avoid bias, and we'll be saving each other a lot of time. --snowolfD4( talk / @ ) 22:44, 4 June 2007 (UTC)[reply]

Nah I meant the article was kindof POV a few minutes ago. And yeah agreed. Unbiased. Hope we can keep it that way amid all the nonsense going on :) --snowolfD4( talk / @ ) 22:53, 4 June 2007 (UTC)[reply]
Yeah true. And thanks, you too. --snowolfD4( talk / @ ) 23:20, 4 June 2007 (UTC)[reply]

Hello, this is a message from an automated bot. A tag has been placed on Image:Statue of miller sm.jpg, by another Wikipedia user, requesting that it be speedily deleted from Wikipedia. The tag claims that it should be speedily deleted because Image:Statue of miller sm.jpg is an image licensed as "for non-commercial use only" or "used with permission for use on Wikipedia only" which was either uploaded on or after 2005-05-19 or is not used in any articles (CSD I3).

If you created this media file and want to use it on Wikipedia, you may re-upload it (or amend the image description if it has not yet been deleted) and use the license {{GFDL-self}} to license it under the GFDL, or {{cc-by-sa-2.5}} to license it under the Creative Commons Attribution-ShareAlike license, or use {{PD-self}} to release it into the public domain.

If you did not create this media file but want to use it on Wikipedia, there are two ways to proceed. First, you may choose one of the fair use tags from this list if you believe one of those fair use rationales applies to this file. Second, you may want to contact the copyright holder and request that they make the media available under a free license.

If the article has already been deleted, see the advice and instructions at WP:WMD. This bot is only informing you of the nomination for speedy deletion, it did not nominate Image:Statue of miller sm.jpg itself. Feel free to leave a message on the bot operator's talk page if you have any questions about this or any problems with this bot. If you have any questions about what to do next or why your image was nominated for speedy deletion please ask at Wikipedia:Media copyright questions. Thanks. --Android Mouse Bot 2 01:36, 8 June 2007 (UTC)[reply]

WikiProject Sri Lanka Reconciliation

[edit]

There is some progress now in WP:SLR, please come and check it out! Because there's so much going on, I just created Wikipedia:WikiProject Sri Lanka Reconciliation/housekeeping to separate our internal housekeeping stuff from the current discussion about articles, which is of interest for more than just our members. Please add this page to your watchlist. I also wrote a new proposal on its talk page, WT:SLR/H#Proposed recipients for barnstars. Please let me know what you think of it! — Sebastian 11:33, 11 November 2007 (UTC)    (I may not be watching this page anymore. Disputed fair use rationale for Image:83n.jpg}

[edit]

Thank you for uploading Image:83n.jpg. However, there is a concern that the rationale provided for using this image under "fair use" may not meet the criteria required by Wikipedia:Non-free content. This can be corrected by going to the image description page and add or clarify the reason why the image qualifies for fair use. In particular, for each page the image is used on, the image must have an explanation linking to that page which explains why it needs to be used on that page. Can you please check:

  • That there is a non-free use rationale on the image's escription page for each article the image is used in.
  • That every article it is used on is linked to from its description page.

Please be aware that a fair use rationale is not the same as an image copyright tag; descriptions for images used under the fair use policy require both a copyright tag and a fair use rationale.

If it is determined that the image does not qualify under fair use, it might be deleted by adminstrator within a few days in accordance with our criteria for speedy deletion. If you have any questions, please ask them at the media copyright questions page. Thank you. NOTE: once you correct this, please remove the tag from the image's page. STBotI (talk) 16:22, 21 April 2008 (UTC)[reply]

An editor has nominated one or more articles which you have created or worked on, for deletion. The nominated article is Allegations of State terrorism by Sri Lanka. We appreciate your contributions, but the nominator doesn't believe that the article satisfies Wikipedia's criteria for inclusion and has explained why in his/her nomination (see also "What Wikipedia is not").

Your opinions on whether the article meets inclusion criteria and what should be done with the article are welcome; please participate in the discussion(s) by adding your comments to Wikipedia:Articles for deletion/Allegations of State terrorism by Sri Lanka. Please be sure to sign your comments with four tildes (~~~~).

You may also edit the article during the discussion to improve it but should not remove the articles for deletion template from the top of the article; such removal will not end the deletion debate.

Please note: This is an automatic notification by a bot. I have nothing to do with this article or the deletion nomination, and can't do anything about it. --Erwin85Bot (talk) 01:31, 29 July 2009 (UTC)[reply]
