Please stop adding flags to infoboxes[edit]

Please stop adding flags to players' infoboxes - it runs against the Manual of Style for player articles and clutters infoboxes unnecessarily. It may also be worth you reading Wikipedia:Manual of Style (flags) as a way of learning where flags can be appropriately added. Qwghlm (talk) 16:28, 20 December 2007 (UTC)[reply]

That's OK, no harm done, I've undone all your additions already. Don't be put off contributing to Wikipedia - there's plenty of things you can do to help out with player articles. You could check articles for neutral point of view, making sure things are factually correct and well cited, or just expanding articles that are short or need more coverage. I'm not sure which edits you are referring to that I 'deleted' - as far as I know I just removed the flags from infoboxes. As for your edit to Football League Championship, you removed entirely an existing table of season-by-season scorers and replaced it with an unsourced and unclear table of your own - I reverted that edit per WP:CITE and out of respect to the existing data. Be bold in expanding articles by all means, but please don't remove existing content without an explanation.
Further more I have deleted your page on Vincent van den Berg as it was nominated for deletion some months back and the situation has not changed - consensus is on Wikipedia that only first-team squad members should have articles about then and van den Berg is a long way off (having not even featured in League Cup games so far). Anyone with a squad number is fine to have an article about - so the likes of Merida, Barazite and Randall are fine. As for internationals, friendlies do count as caps are awarded for them. Bit inconsistent but there you go. Incidentally, if you want to get a feel for policies on football articles and what's agreed on, I'd suggest joining Wikipedia:WikiProject Football and keeping track of the discussions that go on there as it's a good way of getting a feel for the place. Euro 2008 qualifiers stats tables[edit]

I removed the stats tables you added because they are not commonly used stats on Wikipedia. The only stat we tend to focus on is goals scored, whereas you added a table for the number of times players were caught offside. Personally, I think that's a bit crufty. Anyway, don't get disheartened just because someone reverted your edit. It took me a while to figure out what was kosher on here too. You'll figure it out soon enough. P.S. I'm not a mod/admin (yet) ;-) – PeeJay 10:08, 24 December 2007 (UTC)[reply]

What do you mean by "expand the top scorers table"? If you mean adding more players to the table, I feel that the top 10 goalscorers is enough, and it doesn't need any more expansion. However, if you mean adding different stats to it, what stats would you add? Finally, you could always give Qwghlm a hand with his work on articles related to Arsenal F.C. Have a look at his his Arsenal FC watchlist, and see what players are missing biographical articles and see if you can fill in the blanks. – PeeJay 15:27, 24 December 2007 (UTC)[reply]
